A Warm Marriage After Rebirth
Chapter 372: Indirect Kiss (4)
Chapter 372: Chapter 372: Indirect Kiss (4)
"Are you trying to get me to invest less? Any other investment company would be pushing for more capital, but you seem to be actively trying to get me to reduce my funds. How are you supposed to make money that way?"
Leo Fenton’s remark had been nothing more than a casual joke. He had experienced firsthand how difficult it was to get this woman to make a move. He had pestered her for nearly a week before she finally agreed to manage his investments. Although he was a bit annoyed about being manipulated into attending the opening ceremony, he didn’t dare use the commission as a bargaining chip. He just never expected her to take him seriously, let alone consider his words so carefully. She even offered a suggestion!
"As long as our clients are making money, why would I worry about our company not making money?" Nadia Chapman was brimming with confidence, and that confidence was a major asset to the company.
The opening ceremony couldn’t have been simpler. It was over in less than twenty minutes. Few people attended, but everyone who needed to be there was. On its very first day, Apex Wealth Management Inc. took in two hundred million from only five clients. A situation like this was a true anomaly in the investment management industry.
Of that two hundred million, Leo Fenton’s capital accounted for only twenty million—a figure well within Nadia Chapman and Seraphina Sterling’s expectations. With two hundred million, Seraphina Sterling could make significant moves in the stock market.
After leaving Apex Wealth Management Inc., Leo Fenton looked at the commission waiver in his hand, and a question suddenly surfaced in his mind. ’During the opening ceremony, did Nadia Chapman deliberately say she would waive the commission for smaller investment amounts? Could she have guessed beforehand that my initial investment wouldn’t be very large, and that’s why she said it?’
He was the only one who knew that his attendance at the Apex Wealth Management opening ceremony was a personal affair and had nothing to do with Fenton Bank. The other attendees, however, were unaware. In their eyes, his presence signified that Fenton Bank supported and had faith in Apex Wealth Management.
But if Fenton Bank had so much faith in Apex Wealth Management, yet invested so little, wouldn’t that be a blatant contradiction? Although client investment amounts were confidential, there was no guarantee that someone with the right skills and resources wouldn’t investigate each client’s contribution. With Nadia Chapman’s announcement, however, the situation was completely different. Everyone would simply assume that Fenton Bank must have invested such a small amount to save on the commission fee. They wouldn’t think to look for any other reason.
Leo Fenton was stunned. ’This Nadia Chapman is truly extraordinary; she even calculated this far ahead.’ ’Then again,’ he mused, ’how could someone who made so much money in the volatile stock market be an ordinary person?’
The opening ceremony was over and clients had already invested, which meant Nadia Chapman’s mission was a success. Just as she was about to leave for the day, a big shot she couldn’t afford to offend came knocking.
"Miss Chapman, you truly are impressive. Keystone Technologies wasn’t enough for you, so now you’ve launched an investment management company. To achieve so much at such a young age... you’re more capable than most men!" Martin Quinn strode directly into Nadia Chapman’s office, sat down without asking, and made himself at home as if he owned the place.
"You flatter me, Mr. Quinn." Resigned, Nadia Chapman turned back and re-entered her office. "Surely you didn’t come all the way to my humble establishment just to sing my praises, Mr. Quinn?" She poured him a glass of water herself. She couldn’t help it; she only drank plain water, and on the first day of business, the office wasn’t fully stocked. Plain water was all she had.
