Abandoned Woman Busy Farming
Chapter 2978 - 2979: Took the Bait
Chapter 2978: Chapter 2979: Took the Bait
Ju Si was speechless when he heard it, realizing it wasn’t his own idea, but an expert behind the scenes giving advice.
"Even with your toes, you could figure out that someone like him would willingly let his inner strength be sealed and be captured by us? Wasn’t it because the Duan Shi heirloom is in our hands? He worships his master so much, he must be stealing information for him." Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but roll her eyes again. Any normal person could think of this, couldn’t they? Yet the Eternal King needed a reminder, and even then asked why. Couldn’t he think of the reason himself?
"Toes can think now? Are you dumb?" The Eternal King retorted defiantly.
Bai Ruozhu was speechless, talking to this kind of person was mentally exhausting.
She looked towards Ju Si, "Do you have any other way to contact your master?"
Ju Si glanced at the messenger pigeon on the ground, "Just that, it’s dead."
Bai Ruozhu picked up the pigeon, glanced at it, and quietly stored it in her Space.
Actually, the messenger pigeon wasn’t dead; it had only been knocked out by the Eternal King and could still be useful.
"Keep a good watch on your people, don’t let them ruin our plans." Bai Ruozhu said, stretching lazily, "I’m going back to study the Mechanical Box."
Ju Si’s eyes lit up as he listened, but unfortunately, he couldn’t even touch it.
"Achun, you guessed correctly, Ju Si and Xue Zhi didn’t join forces, maybe Xue Zhi doesn’t even know Ju Si." Bai Ruozhu said to Jiang Yichun, her tone full of praise, which brought a smile to Jiang Yichun’s face.
Men, they most like to hear praises, especially when it comes from their own woman.
That night, someone broke into the Xue Residence, quietly sneaking into the guest room where Bai Ruozhu and her party were staying.
"Be careful, assassins!" Jianqi called out in a deep voice.
The assassin, seeing his cover blown, quickly turned and ran. Jiang Yichun dashed out, "Ruozhu, you stay here and guard, we’ll go after him."
"Okay."
On the other side of the marriage chamber, Wei Jiu got up upon hearing the commotion, "Something’s happening, I’ll go help, you hide well and don’t leave the room."
"Mm, you be careful too." Xue Zhi said sweetly, deliberately acting very scared.
Wei Jiu rushed out the door, his figure disappearing into the night.
Xue Zhi’s lips curled up; she could finally start her move.
She acted so convincingly and even married their guard, surely it wouldn’t arouse any suspicion, right?
If she had more time, she could certainly gain their trust, making it easier to act later. But unfortunately, they were planning to send Wei Jiu back to Capital City with her, and she couldn’t wait any longer.
She donned a black cloak, and from under the cabinet, she pulled out a wooden stick, upon close inspection, there were engraved symbols on it, and the top of the stick had a small peculiar head, looking like a bat’s head.
Meanwhile, Jiang Yichun and Gao Zhou quickly figured out who was leading them away.
"Why does this face look so strange?" Gao Zhou shivered, seeing something creepy at night.
"It’s a paper person, something similar to Puppet Technique." Jiang Yichun said.
"I knew she had help, turns out it’s this thing." Gao Zhou sighed, "So we have to keep following it, can’t touch it?"
Jiang Yichun nodded, "If we move it, she’ll notice, just wait for Ruozhu’s signal."
Bai Ruozhu put Little Dengdeng into her Space, letting him play with Snowball and Xiaohei. She wouldn’t underestimate any opponent; what if Xue Zhi’s Curse Technique was powerful and harmed Dengdeng?
Soon, she heard faint footsteps; although the other had practiced some light martial arts, the skill level was average, and it couldn’t escape her ears.
Xue Zhi hesitated outside the room, her face hidden in the hood of the cloak, adding to her sinister appearance.
She grabbed a handful of white powder from her body and scattered it; it was bone powder, mixed from animal and human bones in a certain ratio, used specially for curses.
Bai Ruozhu didn’t move, letting her continue so as to gather evidence of her crime.
The bone powder fell to the ground, forming a strange pattern, seemingly a magic array.
Xue Zhi then began to recite a low incantation, while Ao Song, hiding in the shadows, eyed her with anticipation, finally getting to take action after being restless for so long.
She quietly tossed a talisman which blended into Xue Zhi’s magic array on the ground.
Xue Zhi didn’t notice this, and a smile formed on her lips as the curse ended.
She stepped towards Bai Ruozhu’s room with a sleeping curse, which would make the victim fall into a deep sleep. No matter how strong Bai Ruozhu was, or how great her fortune, she’d sleep for a while, enough time for Xue Zhi to steal the Mechanical Box.
Thinking of this, she removed her hood and reached out to push open Bai Ruozhu’s room door.
Suddenly, a face appeared in front of her, startling her before she could dodge, she was struck on her acupoint and fixed in place.
"Yo, what brings you to see me at this hour?" Bai Ruozhu asked with a smile, holding the Mechanical Box and using one end to lift Xue Zhi’s chin.
Seeing the Duan Shi heirloom she longed for right in front of her but unable to move, Xue Zhi’s eyes were filled with red anger.
"I heard there were assassins, so I hurried over to see the master. Perhaps there’s been a misunderstanding?" Xue Zhi tried to continue her charade.
Bai Ruozhu laughed, "Alright, there’s no one else here, why bother pretending? Let me guess, you’re working for Young Master Ji, what did he promise you?"
At the mention of "Young Master Ji", a flash of surprise crossed Xue Zhi’s eyes; she evidently didn’t expect Bai Ruozhu to know who was behind her.
"Promised you wealth and honor? You seem not to need that. Promised you revenge? You seem to have avenged yourself, unless you still wish to kill your own father. Or promised you a Curse Technique manual or a noble position, like becoming the lady of the Ji family." Bai Ruozhu spoke slowly, observing Xue Zhi’s expression.
"But think about it, you’re just a pawn, a small piece in his large game. He has plenty of women he admires; do you think the position of lady of the manor will fall to you?" Bai Ruozhu looked her up and down with contempt, "Looking like you do, without figure or face, where does your confidence come from? Just from taking off clothes and showing some skin?"
This was undoubtedly a slap to Xue Zhi’s face; her face turned red with anger as she retorted, "It’s none of your business. If you’re capable, kill me! The master won’t let you off!"
Bai Ruozhu scoffed, "He only taught you some Curse Technique, which is just superficial. To stand by his side requires more than being an ordinary woman, you still have a long way to go."
"Nonsense! Once I get the Duan Shi heirloom, I can trade it for Yimen’s highest Curse Technique, I will be the best Curse Master, no one can compare to me!" Xue Zhi, provoked, lost her composure.
Bai Ruozhu burst into laughter, "The best Curse Master? With curses that backfire on you when cast on others?"
Xue Zhi’s face twisted with rage, "That old hag is someone with deep blessings, otherwise how would I have been backfired? If not for her, would my mother and I have been separated?"
