Abyssal Awakening

Chapter 1154: Awkward First Meeting

  • Next Chapter

Allura wasn’t the only one to notice Alice’s state along with the rude words of the other Elves. Solana, who had been following silently pulled her lips into a deep frown.

Even Yuna who only heard what had happened briefly turned to her fellow elves with a look of disbelief in her eyes.

While the situation was indeed dire, it wasn’t to the point where they needed to complain about the survival of a person in front of their friend of all things!

In fact, during the moment where Alice revealed her killing intent, Yuna realised how dangerous this tiny thing on Allura’s palm was and cold sweat filled her back.

There was something... different about her. And she wasn’t talking about the size of her body.

No, it was something on a deeper scale.

Something had fundamentally changed. And it was that exact change that convinced her of the truth of the situation.

If Allura hadn’t stopped Alice, a bloodbath would’ve occurred.

Yuna didn’t need to fight Alice in order to understand her danger.

As Lords, their senses and instincts have been refined time and time again.

While most people may dismiss these instincts, including a few Lords, Yuna was not someone to do so.

Cold sweat filled her back as she wanted to stay something to pacify Alice yet the old lady acted first. She reached out with her hand and...

*BANG!!!

She struck against the head of one of the researchers with her hand in a chopping motion. He had been one of the first and loudest to voice his thoughts about the survival of Feris.

Thus the old lady deemed it necessary to turn him into an example.

Without being able to fight back, his body was driven into the ground like a nail.

His head tilted back, revealing the whites of his eyes as he had been knocked out cleanly.

"I do apologise on the behalf of my employees. While I won’t make excuses for the rude comments they have uttered in a state of panic, I sincerely hope you can understand their far." The Old Lady smiled bitterly.

"They had mentally prepared themselves for the survival or death of Feris. But had not expected the third option being the survival of Feris but having no authority. This has essentially opened a new route for the enemy to invade our territory. Something must be done in order to avoid such a catastrophic reality."

Allura understood. But whether or not Alice shared this sentiment has yet to be seen.

"Forget it. If mom doesn’t want me to kill then so be it. Plus... I guess if Renna was around she wouldn’t want such a thing to happen." Alice spoke slowly as her eyelashes trembled at the mention of Renna’s name.

"However...." Alice narrowed her eyes. "One chance. That’s all you get. If you insult my efforts and Feris’s name, not even Renna can save you." She warned, her voice dripping with a cold fury that couldn’t be dismissed as a possibility.

No took her words lightly and nodded their heads.

What else could they do with such an open threat above their heads? With the way Alice and the others were acting, specially Yuna and the Old lady, the researchers realised that even if the King’s Guard was here, they won’t be able save them.

Not wanting things to spiral further down a path of no return, Yuna quickly took the lead as she led the group out of the research bas with Solana in tow. Naturally, Yuna noticed the Old Lady’s silhouette growing larger after they left.

Like them, she was not happy about the reaction of the researchers.

A bit of re-education was needed to put them back on the right path.

"I know the old lady has already apologised but again, sorry for what happened. They’re only really good with research. Their social IQ leaves much to be desired." Yuna let out a brief sigh as Alice opened one eye, nodded and closed her eyes again.

Her killing intent was a little strong right now so sh had to calm herself.

Though if anyone within the party heard this, they would’ve let out a collective sigh.

Her killing intent hadn’t been just a ’little’ strong. It was downright oppressive as though she had just met her mortal enemy.

Once calm, Alice floated into the air and gave her body a good stretch.

Now that they were away from the researchers, she wanted to direct her attention elsewhere. An idea appeared in her mind but that happiness was soon replaced by a deep sense of loss.

What she wanted to do was now out of her reach since she was simply here in soul form.

Noticing her look of pain as though she had just lost a precious family member, Allura tilted her head in confusion before realising what might’ve happened.

An amused smile appeared on her face as she looked at Alice helplessly.

"Are you sad that you can’t drink mead?"

Upon hearing this, Alice jumped up like a cat caught by surprise as her eyes widened, wondering if Allura could read her mind.

"You were already so readable when you were in your physical form. Your face gave everything away. Now that you’re like this, it’s only gotten easier to notice things." Allura chuckled, giving Alice’s head a slight flick.

Clutching her forehead, Alice pursed her lips while looking at Allura with indignation in her eyes.

Though to her surprise...

"There’s actually a type of alcohol you can drink here. I’m not sure if it’ll work for you but even in a soul state, you should be able to enjoy it."

Allura’s news was like a rainbow after rain. The light to her world.

Her eyes shimmered with excitement as her previous gloom faded away in an instant.

The flip was so fast one might’ve even thought her previous lash out was all an act in order to get this desired outcome.

"Are you sure we can even do that? Aren’t elven royalty waiting for us?" Karya raised an eyebrow.

Wondering why this mother and daughter duo was thinking about drinking in a time like this.

However, Alyss was the one who answered that question.

"Sister can’t hold herself back from Mead usually. What makes you think her soul form would care for anything other than mead if it’s brought up? Not to mention, she can’t exactly drink in her current state. But mom had just given her a lifeline." Alyss sighed.

The sight of a mother supporting her daughter’s unhealthy alcoholism was quite a sight to behold.

Kayra thought about it for a moment before nodding her head.

Indeed, Alice was already a carefree spirit before the change. Now that there was no filter, what else did she expect?

Solana thought about something for a moment before a cheeky grin appeared on her face.

"If you wouldn’t mind, I know a bar that might sell the alcohol you want. It’s a pretty quiet place with a couple of fun regulars. While I don’t drink often, I make it a goal to go there when I get the chance."

Yuna furrowed her brows before her eyes widened.

Before she could spoil things, Solana quickly covered her mouth with eyes that warned for her not to ruin things.

Unfortunately for Yuna, the moment drinks are mentioned, Alice’s focus was now 100% on visiting the bar.

Unable to change their minds, she could only helplessly act as a guide for the group.

Honestly, if they don’t want to visit the Elders and the Queen, what could she even do about it? She might’ve though about it at the start but now? Such thoughts had long disappeared. All that remained was simply the will to do whatever was required of her for the simple task of guidance.

###

The bar that Solana wanted to introduce the group to was nestled in an inconspicuous side of the realm.

A tiny bubble hidden behind large bubbles situated near the Royal Court.

Naturally, this meant that there was a slight risk of being seen by the guards, wondering why a group of Lords and a couple that were close to the realm of Lord was exploring such a small bubble.

To avoid that kind of awkward situation, Solana had them travel a route that she was suspiciously familiar with.

A route that somehow perfectly avoided all of the guards and their patrol route.

There was a complicated expression on Yuna’s face but she refrained from saying anything.

Now that things had reached this stage, all she could do was simply shut up and follow.

Forget Alice, not even Solana was going to change her mind

And soon, they finally reached the bar.

The signage outside the building was written in what Alice could only assume to be Elvish as she couldn’t recognise the words at all.

Not even a little but that doesn’t really matter when Solana was taking the lead.

She seemed to hover around the front of the building, looking for a certain sign or hint.

Alice didn’t know what she was looking for but soon, Solana found exactly what she needed and her eyes sparkled.

"Follow me."

Solana didn’t hesitated to enter the building as a couple of eyes turned towards them.

They were curious about the new comers but once their gaze land on Solana and Yuna, they started to ignore their group.

If those two are tagging along then that meant whatever they were going to do might be more trouble than what it was worth.

There was a person by the bar that didn’t avert their gaze however.

A woman who’s eyes brightened like Solana the moment she saw her.

"Lana!" She called out in surprise as Solana gave her a wave.

"I knew you’d be here. I got a couple of friends-"

"Who’s this kid? Why are they drinking juice and milk at a bar?" Alice’s voice echoed out as she hovered near the table.

"!!!" Yuna’s eyes widened, her pupils constricted.

Even Solana’s expression froze as the woman started to turn red from had to toe.

She thought they could potentially find a bit of common ground at a place they shared in common.

But in hindsight, that might’ve been a mistake as the first words out of Alice’s mouth was exactly what touched her sore spots....

The... Queen hated being called a kid...
