The transparent elevator car offered a panoramic view of the underground city, revealing a dozen or so similar exits that led to the world above.

Aged hovercars occasionally streaked through the air, and holographic projections floated amidst the urban sprawl.

Dense clusters of towering buildings, constructs of fused concrete and steel, each hundreds of meters tall and wide, occupied area after area like colossal beehives.

Their windows, some shut tight and others half-open, resembled countless eyes staring down at the city.

Neon signs flickered all around. Some had aging wiring that spit crackling sparks, while others were nailed directly to rust-colored pipes.

Roads of concrete and asphalt crisscrossed the entire Hive District. Perhaps due to the perpetual lack of sunlight, the roadsides were overgrown with moss, which people occasionally came to clear away.

Even deep underground, the district was ablaze with lights, teeming with endless streams of traffic and pedestrians.

CLACK! CLACK!

However, from within the crowd, someone cast a cold glance at the descending elevator carrying the Superpower Squad and the specialist from Yao Capital.

A figure dressed in black lowered his head slightly, adjusting the brim of his hat.

He launched no attack. Instead, right on schedule, he turned, strode into one of the hive-like buildings, and took an iron-frame lift to a level even deeper than the main thoroughfares.

He passed through numerous corridors and navigated a series of maze-like passages.

At last, he arrived at the rendezvous point: a secret chamber deep underground.

The door opened to reveal a rectangular metal table in the center of the room. Several figures were already waiting.

"Old Ghost, you’re late."

The figure on the right side of the table was the first to speak. He was shrouded in a black robe, and his voice was as hoarse and grating as scraping iron, enough to make one’s skin crawl.

The man in black—Old Ghost—let out a cold snort. He ignored the speaker, walked over to the left side of the table, found an empty seat, and sat down.

"Heh, it seems things didn’t go so smoothly for Old Ghost."

"If I’m not mistaken, you ran into some trouble at the Storm Club, didn’t you?"

The speaker was a woman in a red leather outfit, seated on the left. She offered a deliberately coquettish smile as she teased him.

Old Ghost’s movements froze. His gaze turned icy as he looked at her. "Zhu Yue, you should know better than anyone that I hate being followed."

"Heh, so you are angry."

The woman in red covered her lips and giggled. "I was just looking out for you, Old Ghost."

"If that Chen Xuanxing had been there and decided to attack you, I could have at least blocked a few of his moves for you, couldn’t I?"

"As if I need your help," Old Ghost scoffed, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

As they argued, the two figures at the head of the table watched with differing expressions, until one of them slapped the tabletop.

"That’s enough. Stop bickering."

His azure eyes swept over the group, finally landing on Old Ghost and the woman named Zhu Yue.

"If there’s something important, get to it. I have other matters to attend to shortly."

"Oh?"

Hearing this, the red-clad woman, Zhu Yue, shifted her gaze.

But she didn’t look at the speaker. Instead, her eyes fixed on the person beside him. "Legos... shouldn’t you properly introduce your new friend here?"

All eyes followed her gaze. Legos hesitated for a moment before turning to his companion.

The man was dressed in casual clothes and a blue jacket, his face hidden behind a featureless white mask.

His exposed eyes were unnervingly cold, and a blue Qi Flame occasionally flickered within them.

After a brief silence, facing the gazes of several Superpower Level experts, he finally spoke, his voice as cold as his introduction was simple.

"My name is... Wu Yuntao."
