Achieving Demon Godhood from Unlocking Talents
Chapter 417 - 81: Unstoppable
BEEP BEEP!
The roads in the bustling district were congested.
Cars of various colors drove along the road, their horns blaring from time to time.
"How are you even driving? You managed to run into me."
"Sorry, sorry. I just zoned out for a second."
There was a rear-end collision at the intersection.
Ink Green Rattan, wearing a long-sleeved T-shirt and jeans, watched this from the back seat, looking through the rear window of the black sedan.
Although she was wearing a human-skin mask with the face of a young woman, she still felt uneasy. She frequently scanned the view outside her window, feeling as if someone was tracking her every move from every corner.
"Third Brother, are you sure we can get away?"
She couldn’t help but ask, looking at the middle-aged man in the driver’s seat.
He was wearing a gray hoodie, his arms corded with muscle and covered in tattoos of a minor gang’s insignia for camouflage.
"Don’t worry."
"The Tan family has already taken care of things at the high-wall passage. In a bit, we just need to pretend we’re going to the buffer zone to sell goods, and we’ll be able to leave the city."
His deep, resonant voice was somewhat reassuring.
Only then did Ink Green Rattan feel some of the chill in her heart dissipate. She then asked curiously, "What about the Superpower Bureau?"
"If we didn’t draw them away, how could the high-wall checkpoint possibly let us through so easily?"
The middle-aged man in the hoodie glanced at her in the rearview mirror, understanding her anxiety. His next question was tinged with impatience.
"Have you forgotten Legos?"
As his words registered, Ink Green Rattan’s expression hardened.
"So that’s how it is."
Legos could disguise himself as anyone, including her, a woman.
With him providing cover, they could naturally draw the Superpower Bureau’s agents away.
"Good, good, good. Third Brother, you’re still the reliable one."
As the worries in her heart gradually faded, Ink Green Rattan finally relaxed a little. She smiled, nodded, and said, "You have no idea. I’ve been hiding everywhere, and I’ve had to change locations every few days."
"That guy Ma Biao died a horrible death—the Superpower Bureau’s agents literally chopped off his head. But it’s a good thing, in a way. The Iron Sand Army has always been aggressive, and now that they’ve lost a good number of people, it’s about time our Black Thorn gained the upper hand."
She spoke in a torrent of words, her emotions clearly a bit unstable.
As a fellow Superpower Commander of Black Thorn, the man in gray knew she was still feeling uneasy.
He didn’t hold it against her. Gripping the steering wheel firmly, he comforted her in a low voice,
"Don’t worry. The leader sent me to pick you up, so of course, we’re fully prepared."
"As long as we get past this high wall, there are people in the buffer zone who will pick us up."
Driving the car through the intersection and past the traffic light, he continued, "You don’t have to worry about the Beast Tide either. After all, no one is more familiar with the wilderness than we are."
"On this mission, we’ll definitely make it back together."
His confident voice made Ink Green Rattan nod repeatedly.
Brother Kui San’s strength was no less than her own, maybe even a cut above. He had once clashed with an Exploration Level expert for several moves and escaped unscathed.
As long as they could reach the city gate, even if something unexpected happened, they could join forces to break through the checkpoint and fight their way out of the city perimeter.
’When I get back this time, I’m going to develop my psychokinetic abilities even further, no matter what.’
’The next time we make a move, I’ll make those people from the Superpower Bureau pay the price.’
she thought to herself, gritting her teeth.
The black sedan drove on, its journey smooth and unobstructed.
The districts on either side transitioned from bustling to ordinary. The skyscrapers and holographic projections disappeared, replaced by concrete apartment buildings and old roads.
Before they knew it, the high wall of the city perimeter loomed closer. In the distance, they could see the established roadblock and checkpoint, as well as the City Guard Army soldiers in camouflage uniforms, fully armed and constantly patrolling.
Quietly suppressing her power and aura, Ink Green Rattan’s eyes filled with anticipation. She said no more. The man in the driver’s seat, known as Brother Kui San, also held his breath and focused, pretending to be an ordinary merchant.
"Get ready,"
he said finally, reminding her to act according to their plan to deal with the City Guard Army’s inspection and questioning.
Ink Green Rattan nodded.
The black sedan then crossed the crosswalk. It only needed to pass this final intersection and the last traffic light to enter the city gate checkpoint.
Subconsciously, she glanced back at the city buildings behind them.
Red Maple City...
A flicker of hatred and relief passed through her eyes.
’As long as I can escape from here.’
’With my strength at the Peak of Limit-Breaking, I’ll have plenty of chances for revenge in the future.’
’When that time comes, whether it’s the City Lord’s Mansion or the Superpower Bureau...’
VROOOM!!
Suddenly, an engine roared.
Several black SUVs sped in from the right side of the intersection.
The deafening sound echoed through the district, like the roar of a Mutant Beast, forcefully interrupting her thoughts.
Pedestrians by the concrete buildings on both sides stopped to stare. In the city gate area, the City Guard Army soldiers also frowned, turning to look with guns in hand.
"It’s the Superpower Bureau."
Ink Green Rattan’s eyes widened. She looked out the right-side window and recognized the identity of the convoy.
The man in the hoodie in the driver’s seat also had his expression darken.
’Did something go wrong somewhere?’
The thought flashed through his mind, and just as he was about to slam the accelerator, force his way through the checkpoint, and fight his way out of the city perimeter—
VROOOM!!
Another engine roared from the left side of the intersection—this time, a single black SUV.
It was moving even faster, as if the driver had the accelerator floored.
Before the two could react, the black vehicle spewed exhaust, leaving a trail of afterimages as it charged straight for them.
BOOM!!!
A massive crash shook the street, reverberating in everyone’s ears.
Shards of glass flew everywhere. The black SUV was still accelerating, its brutal charge ramming the black sedan and shoving it toward an empty area by a concrete building on the roadside.
Two long, black skid marks were dragged across the concrete, and a lamppost along the way was snapped in two by the impact.
