Chapter 541: Primary Excellence Resources

An hour later.

Lu Chao temporarily suppressed his superfluous speculations and led the group deep into the pit.

No further obstacles appeared along the way, save for a few mutated biochemical monsters. They finally stopped their advance, arriving at a central command room. Incandescent lights flickered incessantly, illuminating a room filled with massive, dark-screened equipment and an array of complex cables and circuits.

The floor of the command room was actually made of some kind of explosion-proof fiberglass. It was incredibly sturdy. Looking down, there was a bottomless pitch-black void; the beams from their lighting equipment could only reveal the blurry outlines of lifeless objects below.

“What’s down there?” a Superpower Member asked in a low voice, a hint of unease in his tone.

No one could answer. Raccoon Cat and Penelope both looked bewildered; due to the threat of the Magic Alchemy Puppets earlier, they hadn’t managed to find this place.

Lu Chao glanced at the darkness below and amplified his Life Sensing, but he didn’t detect anything unusual. He then looked at Ghost Element. The beast’s eyes flashed as it let out a low growl, similarly failing to sense any anomalies. Seeing this, Lu Chao pondered for a moment before ordering everyone to search the nearby ruins for any valuable items.

“Awoo~”

Soon, Ghost Element made a discovery in a corner of the command room. It was a dust-covered suitcase. Lu Chao stepped forward to take it, waved his hand to brush off the dust, and opened the case.

CLICK!

As the lid popped open, his gaze sharpened. Inside, three sealed syringes were neatly arranged. The vials were filled with a pale blue liquid that emitted a faint fluorescence under the lights.

As his intuitive sense surfaced, Lu Chao’s eyes lit up slightly. His speculation had indeed been verified; there really were Superpower Potions here. He thought that this trip had not been in vain and smoothly snapped the suitcase shut.

“Sir.” On the other side, a Superpower Member had also found something. “Sir, look at this.”

He held a palm-sized metal token that was mottled with rust, bearing the heavy marks of time. However, upon closer inspection, a black flame pattern could be seen carved into it.

Lu Chao took the token and turned it over and over in his hands to examine it. His intuitive sense provided no information; it was merely a lifeless object. However…

“Such sturdy material.” Lu Chao frowned slightly. He was already exerting a considerable amount of force—enough to crush even manganese steel alloy. Yet, this token remained completely unscathed. In terms of hardness alone, it was at least on par with Kade alloy. With this in mind, Lu Chao stowed it away as well.

Looking around, he saw Penelope and Raccoon Cat standing in a corner of the command room, occasionally scanning the experimental base. Both of their complexions looked rather poor. Clearly, their previous exploration experience here had cast a considerable shadow over them.

“It’s hard to imagine that the Moray Country of the past would be destroyed because of a base like this,” Penelope said, turning to look at Lu Chao with a bitter tone. “Perhaps, they brought it entirely upon themselves.”

She had already roughly pieced together the history of this place. In all likelihood, those non-human monsters were the mutated products of biochemical experiments. Combining this with Xiao Chen’s diary, the annihilation of Moray Country was undoubtedly inextricably linked to the biochemical experiments conducted here.

Lu Chao remained silent at her words. He subconsciously thought of the three Magic Alchemy Puppets he had slain earlier, as well as the Superpower Magic Crystal Stone that did not belong to Earth Star. Faintly, he felt that the destruction of this base wasn’t that simple.

The strange noises grew louder. Penelope and the others quickly snapped back to attention, all looking down together. The beams from their lighting equipment barely dispelled a fraction of the gloom, while every Superpower Member wore a grave expression and tightly gripped their firearms.

And very soon, upon clearly seeing the scene in the darkness beneath them, everyone’s expressions subtly shifted. In the pitch-black void beneath the fiberglass floor, a pair of blood-red eyes had actually appeared!

This scene acted like a signal, for more pairs of blood-red eyes soon followed.

Five, ten, a hundred… A dense cluster of blood-red eyes gazed upward from the depths of the darkness. Without exception, all were a stark scarlet, brimming with tyranny and cruelty.

“This…” a Superpower Member gulped, his voice trembling.

Even the likes of Penelope and Yue Zhenhong paled slightly, cold sweat beading on their foreheads.

“Inspector Chen…”

Lu Chao did not speak. He simply stood perfectly still, frowning as he looked down and met the gaze of those countless blood-red eyes. His Life Sensing hadn’t detected any fluctuations of a Life Magnetic Field? Could it be…

BOOM!

A muffled explosion suddenly erupted from deep underground. Before anyone could react, the command room began to shake violently.

Everyone clearly felt the fiberglass layer beneath their feet trembling and vibrating. They even heard crisp CRACK noises as the walls on both sides and the floor beneath them began to splinter, as if a massive earthquake had struck. This place was clearly on the verge of an unstoppable collapse.

“Go!” Lu Chao instantly made his judgment and ordered everyone to evacuate.

Before his voice even faded, he had grabbed the collars of two Superpower Members. Pushing off the ground with his toes, he shot outward like a loosed arrow. Yue Zhenhong and Raccoon Cat snapped back to their senses and nodded in unison. Erupting with their respective Qi Flames, they grabbed the other Superpower Members and sped away.

RUMBLE!

A deafening crash echoed from the command room and metal corridors behind them.
