Adventure: My Skills Evolve Infinitely
Chapter 424 - 217: Slaying the Commander, 150 Skill Level
Chapter 424: Chapter 217: Slaying the Commander, 150 Skill Level
With Lin Mo’s Agility Attribute at 124, the calculation changed from 6+8 to 8+10, instantly creating four more streams of Sword Qi!
And every additional stream of Sword Qi increased the damage of the final, Guaranteed Hit stream, so the actual improvement was even greater than what was described on paper.
As for Evolutionary Path 2, which enhanced the Guaranteed Hit effect of the Sword Qi, it would be more useful against highly agile enemies, raising the skill’s baseline effectiveness against such opponents.
But from Lin Mo’s experience with this skill, he mostly used it against Warriors, Knights, or Mage Class Professionals. If he were actually facing an Assassin or a Ranger, he wouldn’t use such a clumsy skill. He’d just switch to [Blood Qi Blade] or the Skills of another Profession... like an Assassin or a Mage.
In short, for someone like him who possessed all Professions, the goal for each Profession’s specialized path was not to shore up weaknesses, but to build upon existing strengths.
Therefore, Lin Mo chose Evolutionary Path 1, continuing to enhance the skill’s power.
After making his choice, Lin Mo looked up at the battlefield before him.
Based on his previous experience fighting the Goblin Army, the Goblins would typically fall into disarray after losing their Commander-in-Chief. By that logic, the battle was already half-won.
But...
Lin Mo observed for a moment, his brow quickly furrowing.
These Goblins didn’t look like a leaderless horde at all.
He immediately recalled the information he had learned earlier: the creation of a Golden Egg required, at a minimum, a Quasi-Golden Level Goblin.
By common logic, if a Quasi-Golden Level Goblin existed, the Goblin Race would normally have far more than just three Silver Goblins. However, considering these Goblins in Loran Forest were "cultivated" by Lawrence through various means, and there might still be hidden Silver Level Goblins, this special situation was entirely understandable.
’If the Quasi-Golden Level Goblin is really here, then things could get rather tricky...’
Within the Goblin Race, both Silver Goblins and Golden Goblins belong to the Middle Tier Lord rank, but Golden Goblins are far stronger than their Silver counterparts.
The lowest Level for a Silver Goblin is only Level 6, and the highest is just Level 14. In contrast, the starting Level for Gold Level Goblins is 16.
A Quasi-Golden Level Goblin, then, would be Level 15.
’That Level is definitely not something I can fight. Even Flora probably couldn’t guarantee a win against it.’
’The good news, however, is that it hasn’t shown its face at all, not even leaving a trace of its presence. That creature is extremely cautious. It might not choose to personally intervene and fight us to the death.’
’That being said, I still need to take precautions.’
To be on the safe side, Lin Mo chose to pull back, no longer remaining deep within the Goblin Army but returning to the area near the front lines.
’Anyway, my Magic Power is running low, so I can’t really use large-scale Magic anymore. I might as well practice my Warrior Profession Skills in a safer place...’
[Continuous Thrust]!
[Jump Slash]!
[Whip Kick]!
And so, Lin Mo happily began grinding his Skill Level again.
The Skill Proficiency of several of his Warrior Profession skills continued to rise. At the same time, the battle seemed to be heading in a rather bizarre direction...
The Goblins’ assault was still ongoing, but compared to before, something seemed off.
Lin Mo couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but he felt that their offensive wasn’t as intense. ’Are they just going through the motions?’
He paid closer attention and noticed that although the number of High Level Goblins on the battlefield hadn’t seemed to decrease, they were no longer advancing to the front lines as frequently as before to trouble the defenders with their superior individual strength.
Most of them kept their distance, in an ambiguous position, neither retreating nor advancing.
’It looked more and more like an act.’
’But what was the purpose?’
Lin Mo’s brow was tightly furrowed; for the moment, he had no clue.
At that moment, high on the walls of Lania City, Viscountess Caroline Lawrence watched the battle gradually die down, and the tension on her face eased considerably.
’It looks like the capital city can be defended after all.’
"Excellent. This way, My Lady won’t have to worry about shouldering the blame for the capital being breached by Goblins..."
Just then, accompanied by the sound of clapping, a voice suddenly spoke from behind her.
Lord Caroline froze. She whipped her head around, her face twisting into a snarl. "You bastard! You dare come back!"
"No need to get so worked up, My Lady."
Cres gave a perfectly elegant bow. "A lady as graceful as yourself doesn’t look her best when her face is all wrinkled with anger."
Caroline clenched her jaw, but in the end, she didn’t dare to make a move.
For one, she was not skilled in combat and was certainly no match for this Necromancer. For another, if she were discovered conversing with a Necromancer—or worse, if this man deliberately let certain things slip—the consequences would be many times more severe than the capital being breached.
She could only demand with a dark expression, "So, what is a traitor who abandoned our agreement doing back here?"
"A traitor?"
Cres chuckled. "No, no, no... I have always been one to honor my agreements. It’s just that, at times, the agreement I choose to honor is not the one I made with you."
