Chapter 128: Chapter 128: Crashing Mason Everett’s Party
Sienna Everett left the private room with Keith Sterling, just as Evan Shelby was returning from a phone call.
"Are we heading back now?" Evan Shelby asked casually, slipping his phone back into his pocket.
Sienna Everett shook her head. Just as she was about to speak, she caught a glimpse of Mason Everett’s figure appearing around the corner of the staircase. It looked like he had just come down from the third floor.
He came down alone.
It seemed Shannon Everett and Roger Shields were still in the private room on the third floor.
Mason Everett saw Sienna Everett and Keith Sterling, too.
Mason Everett was in a great mood. He walked over provocatively, his stern, handsome face radiating a supercilious pride and a desire to show off.
"Keith Sterling, I might as well tell you, Roger Shields has already agreed to sign with Everett Entertainment. The contract will be signed today. It’s useless for you to keep fawning over him."
There was an element of venting and gloating in Mason Everett’s words.
The Everett family had been in a slump recently. Signing Roger Shields, an old artist with a lifetime achievement award, was like a ray of sunshine after days of endless rain.
It also meant the Everett family was about to turn a corner and things were starting to look up.
But Keith Sterling just gave a cold smile, his devil-may-care attitude laced with arrogant disdain.
"Mason Everett, Mr. Shields tripped over a trash can just now, and I gave him a hand. In your eyes, that’s ’fawning’? It seems you’re the kind of heartless scumbag who’s worse than an animal."
Mason Everett’s expression turned cold in an instant. Normally, he would have been furious at Keith Sterling for saying such a thing.
But he was in a good mood today, so he simply dismissed Keith’s words as the impotent rage of a loser.
Mason Everett shifted his gaze to Sienna Everett, his eyes cold and harsh—not at all how one would look at their own sister.
"Sienna Everett, you poached the five-member boy band from Everett Entertainment, and just now, you refused my personal invitation to be the designer for the Everett family’s clothing brand. Do you just want to watch the Everett family fall further into ruin?"
"Heh, let me tell you, what you’re hoping for will never happen! The Everett family will only get better and better!"
Signing Roger Shields today was the first step in Everett Entertainment’s comeback.
Sienna Everett raised an eyebrow nonchalantly, her exquisitely beautiful face holding the leisurely expression of someone watching a play. "Mason Everett, are you so sure you can sign Roger Shields?"
Mason Everett smiled confidently. "Everett Entertainment is about to sign the contract with Roger Shields. What do you think?"
’Roger Shields would only refuse to sign with Everett Entertainment if Sienna Everett could somehow get her hands on the gown that Mrs. Shields dreamed of, the one designed by Kian.’
’But how could Sienna Everett possibly get that gown?’
’Even if Sienna Everett was friends with Evan Shelby, the founder of G.Y., and even if Evan wanted to sell the gown to her...’
’...the gown was personally designed by Kian. It could only be sold with Kian’s personal consent.’
Sienna Everett unhurriedly raised a hand to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear. She looked at Evan Shelby beside her, her voice clear and cool. "That G.Y. gown—the one-of-a-kind piece that’s for display only, not for sale—is it called ’Chinese Rose’?"
Evan Shelby nodded. "Yes. Why?"
Sienna Everett, the designer herself, had personally chosen the name "Chinese Rose" for that gown.
Sienna Everett pulled Keith Sterling over in front of Evan Shelby and said, "Keith Sterling needs this gown now. You’re the boss of G.Y., so just make the call and give it to him for free."
Evan Shelby’s eyes flew open at her words, his face a picture of disbelief. "What did you say?"
’Give it to him for free?’
’That dress was made with tons of high-end jewels and diamonds!’
’Even the fabric was the rarest silk in the world—it cost a fortune!’
Seeing the incredulous expression on Evan Shelby’s face, Mason Everett became even more certain he was right. ’Sienna Everett wanting to get that gown through Evan was nothing but a pipe dream!’
’Only Kian himself had the right to decide whether to sell that gown or not!’
’Does Sienna Everett really think she has that much pull, that Evan Shelby would just give it away because she said so?’
’Hah, what a fool’s dream!’
When Keith Sterling heard Sienna Everett say she would give it to him for free, his eyes instantly welled up with grateful tears. ’Sniffle... Sister-in-law is the best!’
’The best sister-in-law in the whole world!’
Evan Shelby, however, felt his heart bleeding. ’How could I bear to just give it away for free?!’
Evan Shelby glanced at the obnoxious Mason Everett, then anxiously pulled Sienna Everett a few steps away. He lowered his voice to a volume only the two of them could hear. "You personally designed and made that ’Chinese Rose’ gown. You can sell it to whomever you want, but... why are you giving it away for free?!"
"Is that Keith Sterling guy short on cash? Even if he needs it, you could just sell it to him at the original price, right? It’s just a few tens of millions. He can’t afford that?"
"He can afford it, but," Sienna Everett blinked her glistening eyes, "like you just said, it’s only a few tens of millions. I’m not short on that kind of money, so I might as well just give it to Keith Sterling for free."
Evan Shelby: "..."
’Giving away tens of millions just like that... Do you have to be so willful!’
Mason Everett couldn’t hear what Sienna Everett and Evan Shelby were saying, but from their expressions, he could tell that Evan refused to give the gown to Keith Sterling.
’Everything is going as expected.’
In a rather good mood, Mason Everett straightened his collar. ’Roger Shields is in the bag for The Everett Group.’
Just then, Shannon Everett and Roger Shields came down from the third floor.
Roger Shields was old and his legs were unsteady. He had to hold the handrail as he descended the stairs, moving very slowly.
The disdain on Shannon Everett’s face was almost impossible to hide. ’This dawdling is so annoying. Would it kill him to walk a little faster?’
Seeing Roger Shields hobbling along, Mason Everett remained unmoved and didn’t offer a hand to help. The contract was about to be signed anyway; there was no need to fawn over Roger Shields anymore.
"Brother, why are you just standing in the second-floor hallway?" Shannon Everett asked, confused.
After asking, she noticed Sienna Everett, Keith Sterling, and Evan Shelby standing nearby.
Mason Everett’s face was filled with the smug delight of a victor. "I’m here to admire The Everett Group’s defeated rivals."
Before, the five-member boy band was poached by Sienna Everett. And at the design symposium today, Sienna had once again shone brilliantly, defeating Eric.
But for their Everett family, nothing had been going right.
Today, the Everett family had finally succeeded in signing Roger Shields, finally winning a round against Sienna Everett and Sovereign Entertainment. Mason Everett felt an unprecedented sense of relief and satisfaction.
Mason Everett looked at Roger Shields, his tone laced with absolute certainty. "Mr. Shields, let’s go sign the contract right now."
In his heart, Roger Shields didn’t actually want to sign with Everett Entertainment. But Shannon Everett could supposedly design the gown his wife had been longing for.
To let his wife wear the gown she loved before she passed away, Roger Shields was willing to agree to anything.
The old man’s eyes trembled, shimmering with tears. "Alright. Once the contract is signed today, I’ll have to ask Miss Shannon Everett to make that gown as soon as possible. My wife, she..."
’She doesn’t have much time left.’
Shannon Everett pouted in disgust. ’Even though the design was stolen from Sienna Everett, giving such a beautiful gown to a dying person is such bad luck!’
Anxious to avoid any last-minute complications, Mason Everett started leading Roger Shields toward the exit. "Mr. Shields, let’s go sign the contract right now."
Just as Mason Everett finished speaking, he saw Sienna Everett walking toward them with a half-smile on her face.
