Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Face-Slap! The Downfall of Shannon Everett
Mason Everett glanced at Shannon Everett. Seeing her resolute and unyielding expression, he felt his confidence swell. "Evan Shelby, stop running your mouth! If you have proof, show it to everyone!"
Evan Shelby’s azure eyes were as cold as ice. He looked at Mason Everett as if he were watching a clown.
After a two-second pause, Evan unhurriedly began, "I’m sure many of you know that Kian has a particular habit when designing clothes. They leave their signature ’Qian’ logo on their work."
As soon as he said this, the designers watching from the sidelines all began to nod.
"That’s right. I’m a huge admirer of Kian, and I’ve studied her designs extensively. She does have this habit of leaving a unique ’Qian’ logo on all her creations."
Many famous designers like to leave a personal mark on their work, but Kian’s ’Qian’ logo is exceptionally unique. It’s also a registered trademark, making it Kian’s representative symbol, which only Kian themselves can use freely.
"So, does that mean we just need to check if Shannon Everett’s mermaid dress has the ’Qian’ logo to determine if Kian designed it?"
"If Shannon Everett’s dress has the ’Qian’ logo, and it’s identical to Kian’s, that would pretty much settle it, right? After all, when Shannon designs her own clothes, she wouldn’t put someone else’s logo on them, would she?"
As they spoke, everyone’s gaze shifted to Shannon Everett.
Hearing what Evan claimed was proof, Shannon sneered inwardly with contempt.
’Does he take me for an idiot?’
’Before putting this dress on, I checked it meticulously three times!’
’There are no logos on it whatsoever, let alone some so-called ’Qian’ logo!’
’Besides, I stole Sienna Everett’s design draft. What does that have to do with Kian?’
Shannon grew even more brazen.
But no matter how smug she felt inside, her face wore the aggrieved expression of someone on the verge of tears, falsely accused and oppressed. She even managed to project an air of dignified resilience.
"Mr. Shelby, you’ve baselessly accused me of stealing Kian’s design, but my conscience is clear. I can swear that there is absolutely no ’Qian’ logo on my dress!"
"If you still don’t believe me, I’m willing to cooperate and let you inspect this blue velvet mermaid dress I’m wearing!"
Mason’s heart ached at the sight. ’Shannon is suffering such a terrible injustice, yet she remains so poised and proper. She truly is the high-society lady the Everett Family raised her to be.’
Growing even more protective of Shannon, Mason turned to Evan, his expression as cold as frost.
"Mr. Shelby, with so many people here in this banquet hall, allow me to be perfectly clear. Even if you’re the founder of G.Y., and even if our Everett Family can’t compete with you right now, I’m telling you this: if it’s proven that Shannon has been slandered, I will get justice for her!"
Hearing this, Evan’s blue eyes narrowed dangerously.
’This idiot, Mason, is certainly protective of his fake sister, Shannon. So how could he have been so ruthless to his real sister, Sienna Everett?’
If Evan had initially only wanted to expose Shannon’s plagiarism, now he wanted to take down Mason right along with her.
"Get justice? Hah..." Evan stared coldly at Mason, his voice as sharp as floating ice in winter. "You’d need the ability to do so first."
Mason’s expression instantly darkened.
Anyone would be humiliated to be spoken to like that in public, and Mason, who had always been proud, felt his irritation multiply. But Shannon’s innocence was the top priority right now. Forcing himself to endure it, Mason said, "Evan Shelby, hurry up and start inspecting the dress!"
Evan wasn’t in a rush. Instead, he called over a member of the banquet staff and whispered a few words to them.
The staff member then departed.
Taking advantage of the moment, Evan glanced in Sienna Everett’s direction.
Sienna walked over at a calm, unhurried pace.
As she approached, the surrounding crowd subconsciously parted to make way for her.
In her Iris Night Tale gown, Sienna was simply too magnificent and icily beautiful, like a God standing above all living things, compelling people to clear a path for her instinctively.
When he saw Sienna approaching, an undisguisable look of awe flashed in Mason’s eyes. The next second, however, realizing he was having a positive thought about Sienna, he was overcome with conflict and evasively averted his gaze, looking instead at Shannon beside him.
Seeing Sienna approach, Shannon’s vicious thoughts grew even more twisted.
’Is that bitch Sienna here to laugh at me?’
’Hah. She’s in for a disappointment.’
’This dress has no logo on it whatsoever! Evan can’t prove a thing!’
A short while later, the staff member returned with what Evan had requested.
Everyone immediately craned their necks to see. It was a precision instrument that looked like a magnifying glass.
Evan took the magnifying instrument and glanced at Sienna.
Sienna gestured toward the elbow of Shannon’s right arm—
Shannon was wearing blue velvet gloves that matched her dress, reaching up to her elbows.
Evan took the hint. A faint, cold smirk touched his lips as he strode toward Shannon. "Give me your right hand."
When Shannon saw the magnifying tool in Evan’s hand, a sudden panic seized her heart. ’Could it be...?’
At the thought of a certain possibility, a cold sweat broke out on her back. She stood frozen in place, unable to move.
Evan urged her sharply, "Your right hand. Hold it out."
Shannon remained motionless, her face turning visibly pale.
The onlookers were bewildered. ’What’s wrong with her? Why is she just standing there? Hurry up and hold out your hand to prove your innocence!’
Mason looked at Shannon in confusion. "Shannon..."
Evan’s patience ran out. He grabbed Shannon’s right glove and yanked it off, then aimed the magnifying instrument at the glove’s cuff.
After looking for two seconds, a sarcastic smile curled on Evan’s lips. "Shannon Everett, open your damn eyes and take a good look at what this is!"
Before Shannon could respond, the other designers in the hall couldn’t hold back and crowded closer.
Through the magnifying instrument, they could clearly see a small wave embroidered in silver thread at the cuff of the glove. And in the center of the wave was a tiny, unique ’Qian’ logo!
"I see it! There really is a ’Qian’ logo! It’s not just a random character for ’qian’—it’s identical to Master Kian’s exclusive ’Qian’ logo!"
"No wonder he needed a magnifying tool! It’s almost impossible to see with the naked eye!"
"Everyone knows that ’Qian’ logo is exclusive to Kian and is a registered trademark that others can’t just use. But now it’s appeared on Shannon Everett’s mermaid dress. That must mean..."
"Holy crap, Shannon Everett really did steal Kian’s design draft! No wonder the moment I saw this mermaid dress, I thought it looked just like Kian’s design style!"
