Chapter 163: Chapter 163: Apologizing to Sienna Everett

Unlike his usual composure, Miles Everett was visibly nervous as he faced Julian Forrester.

Morgan Everett was so excited his face was one big smile, the creases deepening as he bowed and scraped. "Mr. Forrester, a pleasure! I’m Sienna’s father. I had no idea you held my daughter in such high regard. This is a tremendous honor!"

Sienna Everett’s expression instantly turned cold.

’Sienna?’

’My daughter?’

’Hah, how ridiculous. Back when she lived with the Everett family, Morgan Everett had never once addressed her so affectionately.’

’But now, just because Julian Forrester mentioned he admired her, he was putting on this obsequious, groveling act.’

The sight of Morgan Everett’s face made Sienna feel sick to her stomach.

Julian Forrester, who had been watching Sienna’s every expression, saw her displeasure. His gaze instantly turned frigid. As he looked at Morgan Everett, a chill spread from his eyes like a vast, frozen wasteland.

Morgan Everett shivered for no apparent reason. When Julian Forrester ignored him, he put on another fawning, bootlicking smile. "Mr. Forrester, I truly never imagined you thought so highly of my daughter. For her to receive your favor... she is fortunate beyond belief!"

After speaking, Morgan Everett turned to Sienna, his sycophantic expression immediately hardening. He reprimanded her in a low voice, "Aren’t you going to thank Mr. Forrester?"

A mocking smile touched Sienna’s lips. "Chairman Everett, I think your eyesight is failing in your old age. You must have me confused with someone else. Who are you calling your daughter?"

"Sienna...!" Morgan Everett was so angry he almost used her full name, but he caught himself. Julian Forrester was still standing right there, and he clearly treated Sienna differently.

’He had to coax Sienna. If she could convince Julian Forrester to invest in the Everett Family, it would solve their immediate crisis. Not only that, but it would also allow them to latch onto the massive ship that was the Forresterer Group. It would kill two birds with one stone.’

Morgan Everett suppressed his anger and said, "Sienna, how can you say that? Family shouldn’t hold grudges. Even if there are disagreements, we should resolve them quickly. Don’t be so willful in public!"

Sienna easily picked up on his underlying meaning. "Don’t be willful in public? Chairman Everett, are you afraid I’ll make a scene and embarrass you in front of outsiders? I’m quite curious, though. The Everetts lost all face long ago. What’s left to lose?"

"You!" Morgan Everett’s face went crimson with rage. He raised a hand to point at Sienna, but a glance at Julian Forrester’s frosty expression forced him to restrain himself.

With every word Sienna spoke, her gaze grew colder. "Morgan Everett, I cut ties with the Everett Family long ago. I have no affection left for you. Stop trying to claim me as your daughter!"

This time, Morgan Everett was so furious his fingers trembled.

’This biological daughter of his truly was his bane. Sooner or later, this unfilial, rebellious child was going to be the death of him!’

’Why can’t she be sensible like Shannon?!’

If he weren’t still counting on Sienna to persuade Julian Forrester to invest in the Everett Family, Morgan Everett would have slapped her across the face right then and there.

For now, Morgan Everett could only swallow his anger. He adopted the grave and earnest tone of an elder making concessions to a junior.

"Sienna, let’s not talk about cutting ties anymore. You’ll always be my daughter. As your father, how could I not care for you?"

"Perhaps there were some misunderstandings in the past. Let’s let all of that go. Sienna, come home. From now on, we can be a family again and live happily together, alright?"

Sienna felt like she was going to be sick. "Go home? Stop making me nauseous!"

Miles Everett started to speak, but after a glance at Julian Forrester, his lips moved silently, and he ultimately swallowed his words.

Morgan Everett took two deep breaths, deciding to go all in. "Even if your mother and I did some things wrong, what parents haven’t made mistakes? Your mother and I can reflect on our actions. Just come home!"

Just then, Julian Forrester, who had been silent the entire time, finally spoke.

Morgan Everett’s heart pounded when he saw that Julian had finally deigned to speak. This was a man he could normally never even get an audience with. Today, he had not only met him but was now speaking with him. How could he not be overwhelmed by the honor?

But just as Morgan’s excitement peaked, he heard the man’s low, cold voice. "Since you know you were wrong, why haven’t you apologized to Sienna?"

Morgan Everett froze, standing there like a stunned clown.

’Apologize to Sienna?’

’Julian Forrester actually wants *me* to apologize to *Sienna*?’

Morgan had never been so flabbergasted. But then a thought struck him: ’Julian Forrester values Sienna this much? He even wants to get justice for her.’

’If Sienna asks Julian Forrester to invest in the Everett Family, he’s very likely to agree!’

After weighing his options, Morgan Everett immediately forced a dry, awkward smile onto his face.

"Sienna, your mother and I were indeed thoughtless in the past. So today, in front of Mr. Forrester, I want to properly apologize to you and admit my faults! We’re family. Let bygones be bygones. Please, just forgive your father this once!"

Sienna felt like she was about to bring up last night’s dinner. She shot a look at Julian Forrester, giving him a slight nod, then turned and walked away.

Morgan Everett’s eyebrows shot up. ’That little brat! How dare she just walk off like that, with no manners at all!’

’I’ve already groveled and apologized. What more does she want?’

No matter how viciously Morgan cursed her in his mind, he kept an apologetic smile plastered on his face for Julian Forrester. "Mr. Forrester, my apologies for the scene. We’ve been terribly rude!"

With that, Morgan and Miles Everett hurried after Sienna.

Sienna had expected Morgan to follow. Before he could open his mouth, she shot him a look as sharp as an ice pick. "Don’t think I don’t know what you’re planning. You’re only acting this way because you suddenly think I’m useful. Let me tell you, you’re barking up the wrong tree."

"Sienna Everett!" Now that they were away from Julian Forrester, Morgan dropped the pretense completely. "You can say you’ve cut ties with the Everett Family all you want," he snarled, "but their blood still runs through your veins! I gave you life! After everything you’ve done to harm this family, you should be doing whatever it takes to help us!"

Miles frowned slightly. "Father, keep your voice down. Sienna will understand."

Just then, Isabelle Sutton came out of the restroom. She scanned the banquet hall, and when she saw Sienna with the Everett family members, she immediately ran over in a panic.

"Sienna!" Isabelle ran to her side. "Are you okay?"

A warmth spread through Sienna’s chest, and she shook her head.

Then, Sienna looked back at Morgan Everett. A mocking sneer twisted her cherry-red lips, and her gaze was so bone-chilling it held not a single trace of warmth.

"Morgan Everett, you said the blood of the Everett Family runs through my veins. Fine. Then I will help the Everett Family... become more... and more... pathetic, until there is no hope of a comeback!"

Sienna enunciated each word with cold precision.

Enraged, Morgan Everett clutched his chest as a sharp pain seized his heart. He nearly fainted on the spot.

Miles was quick enough to catch him and hold him steady.

Having said her piece, Sienna took Isabelle and left the area.

In her beautiful navy-blue gown, her posture was ramrod straight and proud, her retreating figure radiating an air of finality, of never looking back. Her delicate, fair face was a mask of cold beauty.

Sienna was once again overcome with disgust.

’Why does the blood of the people she despises most, the Everetts, have to run through her veins?’

A heavy, oppressive feeling settled in Sienna’s chest. Her long, thick lashes trembled. In a daze, she saw Ian Prescott standing not far away, and he began walking toward her...
