Chapter 174: Chapter 174: Crisis of a Blown Cover

Lucas Everett had been the favorite to win the race, but an uncharacteristically poor performance landed him in fifth place. This drew the attention of the crowd, who were all trying to figure out what had gone wrong.

So when Lucas Everett went to find Sienna Everett in the stands, all the surrounding spectators craned their necks to see.

As a result, they all heard her say, "Zephyr’s not dead," and the crowd instantly erupted.

"Zephyr’s not dead? For real? Don’t mess with me!"

"The young woman with the long hair said it herself! She said Zephyr’s not dead—that he’s alive and well! Lucas Everett heard her and is questioning her about it!"

"No way. How would a girl like her know anything about that? She must be making it up, right?"

"Wait a minute... isn’t that Kian?!" a young foreign man nearby suddenly recognized Sienna Everett. "Oh my God! The woman who said Zephyr isn’t dead is Kian, the chief designer for G.Y.!"

This was Meridia, Yesteria. Although there were many Chinese people in the crowd, everyone had been so focused on the race that no one had recognized Sienna Everett at first.

Now that the young man had shouted, people started recognizing her one after another.

"Oh my god, it really is Kian!"

"Look, she’s so beautiful and has such an elegant air about her!"

"I can’t believe she’s interested in car racing, too. She came all the way to Meridia just to watch a race."

Seeing how famous and popular Sienna Everett was, Lucas Everett frowned and let out a disdainful scoff.

’She just designs clothes. Is that really worth all this hype?’

It wasn’t just the Chinese fans; even some of the foreigners were itching to get a photo with Sienna Everett. ’Seriously?’

The disdain in Lucas Everett’s eyes deepened.

He stood in the aisle with his arms crossed, looking down on the seated Sienna Everett. His voice reeked of arrogance. "Sienna Everett, you just said Zephyr isn’t dead. Do you have any idea how ridiculous you sound telling a lie like that?"

The surrounding crowd immediately fell silent, their gazes fixed eagerly on Sienna Everett.

Did she really have news about Zephyr?

Sienna Everett remained in her seat, lifting her gaze to the standing Lucas Everett.

Though he towered over her and she was in the physically disadvantaged position, she exuded an air of unruffled, commanding authority.

"You say I’m lying? Fine. Then how are you so certain Zephyr is dead?"

Lucas Everett sneered, his expression mocking. "Since Zephyr announced his retirement two years ago, he hasn’t participated in a single race, and his social media accounts have gone silent. Someone said they saw him get into a car crash and lie in a pool of his own blood. Every racing fan knows this."

Hearing this, the racing fans in the crowd nodded in agreement.

It was true. They had even spontaneously organized an online memorial service for him on the forums.

Sienna Everett found it laughable. She looked at Lucas Everett. "Someone said they saw Zephyr in a car crash? So what you’re saying is based on hearsay, with no actual proof. If I say Zephyr isn’t dead, on what grounds can you call me a liar?"

"You!" Lucas Everett choked on his words, stunned by Sienna Everett’s sharp tongue. He pointed a finger at her angrily. "I’ve never seen you show any interest in racing before. You’re a total outsider! Now you’re just casually claiming Zephyr isn’t dead to use his name for attention! Let me tell you, Sienna Everett, that is incredibly disrespectful to the deceased!"

Sitting beside her, Ian Prescott’s eyelid twitched violently when he heard that last sentence.

’Disrespectful to the deceased?’

’This Lucas Everett is a complete and utter moron.’

Keith Sterling’s expression turned icy as he watched Lucas Everett with wary eyes.

Although he was bewildered as to why Sienna Everett would claim Zephyr wasn’t dead, he would support her unconditionally, no matter the situation.

Isabelle Sutton stared at Lucas Everett in utter disbelief, completely repulsed by his arrogant and domineering attitude.

’Sienna is his sister. Why is he targeting her like this?’

Lucas Everett naturally sensed Isabelle Sutton’s disapproval. His heart sank, and he vented all his frustration on Sienna Everett. "Sienna Everett, how do you know Zephyr isn’t dead? If you’re going to disrespect the deceased Zephyr—"

Before he could finish, Sienna Everett let out a sneer and slowly rose to her feet.

Her delicate features held a sharp, cold sarcasm as she said nonchalantly, "I just saw Zephyr today. Of course, I know she isn’t dead."

Today...

She had just seen Zephyr?!

Her words were like a spark landing on dry tinder. The surrounding racing fans exploded into a frenzy.

"Did I hear that right? Sienna Everett said she’s seen Zephyr—and that she just saw her today!"

"Holy shit, Sienna Everett knows Zephyr?"

"Sienna Everett, did you really see Zephyr? Was it really her? Are you friends with Zephyr?"

It wasn’t just the fans; Keith Sterling, Evan Shelby, and Orion Hawthorne were also utterly astonished.

’Sienna... saw Zephyr today?’

’How did they not know about this?’

Lucas Everett was just as shocked by Sienna Everett’s words. His brows knitted tightly, his gaze sharp. "Sienna Everett, Zephyr has never made a public appearance. You claim you’ve seen him—that you just saw him today—but who knows if you’re telling the truth?"

Hearing this, the crowd calmed down a bit.

It was true. No one here had ever seen Zephyr in person, so there was no way to know if Sienna Everett’s words were true or false.

Just then, two men in security uniforms hurried toward the stadium entrance. One held a walkie-talkie and spoke respectfully into it, "Roger that! Mr. Lawrence is here. We’re on our way out to greet him now!"

Hearing Mr. Lawrence’s name, the racing fans in the stands erupted once more.

"Mr. Lawrence? As in, the Mr. Lawrence who’s the only person to have ever seen Zephyr’s real face?"

"It has to be! Didn’t you see the security guards rushing out to meet him? Mr. Lawrence is Zephyr’s friend—he’s the only one who knows what Zephyr actually looks like. Why would he suddenly show up at the track?"

"Mr. Lawrence is also a big racing enthusiast. He and Zephyr started a team together—Lawrence was the manager, and Zephyr was the ace driver. It’s a shame Zephyr suddenly announced his retirement two years ago. After that, the team disbanded, and Mr. Lawrence stopped following the racing scene. So why is he suddenly here at a race today?"

"Could it be because he heard someone say Zephyr wasn’t dead, so he made a special trip?"

"Could be!"

Lucas Everett, of course, knew that Lawrence and Zephyr were good friends.

Hearing that Lawrence had suddenly arrived, Lucas Everett’s first reaction was surprise.

However, the surprise lasted only a few seconds before it dawned on him. His gaze, filled with ridicule, turned back to Sienna Everett.

’After all, Lawrence is the only person who has seen Zephyr’s true face.’

’Now, Lawrence himself was here, and it was obviously because of Zephyr.’

’Let’s see how Sienna Everett gets out of this lie about having just seen Zephyr today!’
