Chapter 180: Chapter 179: I’m Losing Asher’s and My Child

"Fuck..."

As the car was sent flying, I could still hear Zeke Shaw cursing...

Something warm trickled down my face. I looked up and saw his face.

He was shielding me, holding me tight. Blood from his forehead dripped down his chin onto my face.

"Asher..."

His consciousness was hazy, probably because of the drugs.

"Zeke... they have more men!" The voice sounded distant. I heard the panic in Lucas Grant’s voice.

A dozen or so men got out of the truck that had hit us. They were clearly... after Sebastian Lancaster and me.

"Asher..." I panicked, crying out his name.

BANG! The twisted car door was wrenched open. Lucas Grant and Zeke Shaw were trapped, unable to get out.

"What do you think you’re doing? Police!" Lucas Grant yelled furiously, but our attackers obviously weren’t intimidated.

Asher and I were dragged out of the car. Blood blurred my vision.

"Asher..."

Suddenly, someone behind me struck my head with a club. The ringing in my ears grew louder, and my consciousness began to fade.

...

"Asher..."

When I came to, my head was throbbing.

I called Asher’s name, but I couldn’t see anything in the dim light.

CLICK... Suddenly, the factory lights flickered on.

I saw the person who walked in.

It was Brandon Lancaster.

’Heh... So he’s out?’

’It seems Master Lancaster pulled some strings.’

Brandon Lancaster was known for always getting his revenge. He was probably simmering with pent-up rage, just waiting to let it out.

My head ached terribly as I nervously scanned my surroundings.

’That bastard tied my hands and feet. There’s no escaping...’

"Bring him in," Brandon Lancaster ordered in a low voice, gripping my chin.

The men behind him dragged a blood-soaked Asher out from another room and threw him to the side.

The effects of the drug probably hadn’t worn off yet; he was still unconscious.

"Brandon Lancaster!" I screamed, losing control, trying to see how Asher was doing.

"What a pity..." Brandon Lancaster yanked my hair, a crazed laugh escaping him. "Such a shame, ending up with a lunatic."

"Brandon Lancaster! This is kidnapping..."

Brandon Lancaster slapped me. I crashed hard to the ground, my vision went black, and my ears started ringing again.

"Cece..." Asher cried out my name as they splashed him awake with cold water.

They probably knew he’d been drugged and was too badly injured to put up a fight. They didn’t tie him up, just pinned his head to the ground.

"Let him go..." I yelled in a panic, praying that Zeke Shaw and Lucas Grant would find us soon.

’No matter how insane Brandon Lancaster is, he wouldn’t dare attack the police. Zeke and Lucas will definitely find us...’

"Sebastian Lancaster, you’ve been playing dumb for a long time, haven’t you?" Brandon Lancaster sneered, picking up a club from the floor and bringing it down hard on Asher’s back. "You’ve been colluding with Owen Foster all along, right? Hollowing out the Lancaster Family, trying to get the Lancaster Group into your hands... You even fucking planted a mole by my side to betray me!"

Brandon Lancaster struck Asher viciously with the club again.

"Let me tell you, if you push me over the edge, I’m not going down alone!" Brandon was clearly unhinged.

"Let him go! Stop hitting him..." I sobbed uncontrollably, pinned to the ground.

Asher was already injured. If they kept beating him like this, he would die.

Asher spat out a mouthful of blood, his eyes fixed on Brandon Lancaster with an icy gaze.

"Asher..." I cried his name.

Asher struggled, but he hadn’t recovered his strength yet.

He looked at me with a pained expression, clenching his fists desperately, trying to regain his stamina as quickly as possible.

"You think you’re so tough, huh? Why don’t you try acting arrogant with me now? Let’s see what you’ve got, hmm?" Brandon Lancaster threw his cigarette to the ground and kicked Asher hard.

I shook my head, crying, my heart aching as I watched Asher.

"Do you know... why Master Lancaster bailed you out but won’t let you anywhere near the Lancaster Group?" Asher laughed, a cold, chilling sound.

His arms were pinned, the blood on the corner of his mouth a stark contrast to his pale face.

"Because... besides you, he has another son—an illegitimate one. A top student from the finance department at Meridia University. A truly... clean, spotless heir." Asher’s smile was bloodthirsty.

Brandon Lancaster had been nothing more than a disposable pawn for Master Lancaster from the very beginning.

I didn’t know the full situation with the Lancaster Family, but for Brandon to suddenly go crazy and come after Asher and me, he must have been provoked by something.

’If this was Master Lancaster’s doing, they probably would have just killed Asher and me in the car crash. There would’ve been no need to capture us.’

"That old bastard is sacrificing a pawn to save the king, huh... He wants me to take all the blame?" Brandon Lancaster laughed.

Clearly, he already knew he was the pawn being sacrificed.

"This was all... part of your plan, wasn’t it? You deliberately escalated the conflicts within the Lancaster Family, getting us to eliminate Dylan Lancaster and the old man for you... Then you watched as father and son turned on each other... watched the Lancaster Family shatter like ice." It all suddenly clicked for Brandon Lancaster. He laughed and took a step back, staring at Asher as if he were a madman, a flicker of fear in his eyes.

’He’s afraid of Asher?’

’How is that possible... Asher was a drifter before this...’

"You really are a fucking lunatic..." The fear in Brandon Lancaster’s eyes intensified. He tightened his grip on the club. "As long as I kill you, this will all be over."

I stared at Brandon in terror, struggling with all my might, secretly trying to untie the ropes behind my back. "Brandon Lancaster! What are you talking about? He was a drifter before! What ability could he possibly have to plot against you? You Lancasters have done so much evil, you’re just reaping what you sow! Why are you blaming it on Asher? Don’t you touch him!"

Brandon Lancaster sneered, glanced at me, and walked over to grab my hair. "Since he’s a lunatic... I’m curious to see if he has any weaknesses."

A flash of panic crossed Asher’s eyes. He struggled violently. "Brandon Lancaster! I’m the one who plotted against you, against the Lancaster Family! Come after me!"

Brandon Lancaster’s laugh was crazed. He probably knew he’d been backed into a corner. Unable to inherit the Lancaster Group and clean up his image, he would forever be Master Lancaster’s pawn in the shadows, forced to serve the illegitimate son.

Was he supposed to live on a knife’s edge every day just so the illegitimate son could live a glorious life? On what grounds!

"You care a lot about the child in her belly, don’t you?" Brandon Lancaster’s club rested on my stomach.

My breath caught in my throat. I stared at Brandon Lancaster in horror.

Asher thrashed like a caged animal that had been pushed too far. "Brandon Lancaster... if you dare touch her, I swear, I swear I will make you wish for a fate worse than death..."

Brandon Lancaster raised an eyebrow. "Let’s see what you’ve got."

Brandon Lancaster raised the club and brought it down hard on my stomach.

"Brandon Lancaster!"

Asher went berserk. The men holding him lost their grip. With a blood-streaked, pale face, he threw a punch at the man beside him, like a beast breaking free from its cage.

"Impossible..." Disbelief was written all over Brandon Lancaster’s face as Asher’s fist connected with it.

Asher had been drugged. He shouldn’t have had the strength to fight back.

I was in too much pain to even make a sound. I curled into a ball, my forehead drenched in a cold sweat.

Unconsciously, tears had soaked my face. I gasped for breath, trying desperately to calm myself down.

I knew... I wasn’t going to be able to keep this child.
