Reluctant to engage, but the notifications kept coming in, so she had to pause washing the dishes, dry her hands, and pick up her phone to check.

As expected, most of the messages were from Guo Mengyao, as well as from Liu Ying, and Jin Xinyan, all inquiring about the progress of her plans and whether she had contacted Tang Jierui.

This inevitably made her head ache again. After some thought, she could only send a message to the group: [It's the weekend, and I'm at home with Mengting. She's right next to me; I'll contact you guys later.]

She quickly finished washing the dishes, tidied up the kitchen, greeted Wu Mengting, who was watching TV, and went upstairs.

This reckless plan that injures oneself to hurt the enemy was met with opposition from the others, who worried it might invite a new rival.

Sun Xiaorui also thought Hong Xiaodan's plan might end up like throwing buns to a dog — they'd be gone for good. In the end, it might not infuriate Wu Mengting but instead bring a new "good sister" to their group.

Wu Mengting's tolerance for Chen Feng was clearly beyond their expectations.

Startled by this message, Sun Xiaorui was about to type a defense for herself but quickly decided to stay calm and see how things played out.

Guo Mengyao replied: [She likely hasn't. She should be more anxious than us because Wu Mengting wants to kick her out of the villa and stop her from living with Chen Feng.]

Jin Xinyan added: [Yeah, if you think about it, she's a much bigger threat to Wu Mengting than we are. She's been with Chen Feng longer than any woman since his divorce. Wu Mengting, now Chen Feng's girlfriend, would first try to get rid of her.]

Hong Xiaodan said: [Aren't you afraid she'll see this? She's still in our group, you know.]

Liu Ying responded: [That's the point. Little Rui, don't you think? You've seen it, and you should understand that our common enemy has always been Wu Mengting. If you sympathize with her or side with her because of her small favors, it would be very unwise.]

No one's a fool, and some of these allies in the group had already noticed her anomalies, leaving Sun Xiaorui feeling helpless. After thinking it through, she finally typed: [I just got here. I'm working on the Tang Jierui matter. I plan to take Mengting out for shopping and coffee tomorrow, having him happen upon us — it's the best way. However, I still need someone to take photos secretly. Hiring a professional paparazzo is possible but might leave evidence and get us discovered.]

Sun Xiaorui ultimately decided to continue with the original plan but definitely wouldn't act too aggressively, mainly to avoid the wrath of these allies. Besides, if things did succeed, it wouldn't necessarily be bad for her.

But she knew there was a ten-to-one chance this wouldn't work.

Jin Xinyan: [What time tomorrow? Where? I can find someone to follow and shoot without getting caught.]

Guo Mengyao quickly transferred 8888 to each of them. Jin Xinyan accepted it without hesitation and immediately expressed her thanks in the group chat.

Sun Xiaorui hesitated slightly before clicking accept and following up with her thanks in the group.

This bit of money, of course, was nothing for Guo Mengyao, who generously stated: [Once again, if you need financial support, just let me know. Don't save money on my account. I'd willingly spend millions to see them break up.]

Praising comments poured in, filling the group with cheerful air.

In the afternoon, Sun Xiaorui hesitated about how to invite Wu Mengting to go shopping the next day but still hadn't figured it out.

When the three of them had dinner together, Wu Mengting spoke first, "There's an event at Yida Square tomorrow. How about we go take a look? Let's invite Qianru along."

Sun Xiaorui was overjoyed and quickly agreed, "Sure, sure, it's been a while since I've been to Yida Square. The clothes in some of those boutiques are quite stylish, though a bit pricey."

"There's a reason for the price. Besides, it's not like you can't afford them now. Check them out tomorrow, and if you like something, buy it. Don't be hesitant like you were this morning. It's almost time for a new season; you should get a new outfit."

"Yeah, I'll take a look tomorrow, and if it really suits me, I'll buy it. Pricey or not."

And so the plan was set. Wu Mengting proceeded to invite Chen Feng to join, who, of course, refused as usual. Unless he felt overly bored or had to, he really didn't want to go shopping with them.

The next day, around nine in the morning, the two of them set off, with Wu Mengting driving as usual. They went to pick up the arranged Zhou Qianru and headed to Yida Square.

Zhou Qianru initially didn't want to go since she feared running into acquaintances again, but after Wu Mengting's persistent persuasion, she reluctantly agreed.

Around 9:30, they arrived at Yida Square.

The event was an 18th-anniversary celebration featuring discounts, cash-back offers, raffles, and stage performances. It was lively with a large crowd.

The three women, driven by the bustling atmosphere, their natural shopping instinct, and the allure of discounts, were full of energy.

In less than an hour, each had gained their rewards, each carrying at least two shopping bags.

Two hours later, each had at least four bags. Most notably, Wu Mengting, having achieved financial freedom, bought quite a lot. Aside from what she got for herself, she bought two sets of clothes, a pair of shoes, and a belt for Chen Feng, carrying several bags. Fortunately, Sun Xiaorui and Zhou Qianru helped her carry a few, or she wouldn't have managed on her own.
