Liuxian’s phone vibrated against the folder in his hand as he stood at the edge of the construction site, and when he glanced down, Guiying’s statement was the first thing he saw.

He read it once before opening the full post.

The statement was exactly what he had expected from Guiying after their conversation that morning. There was no attempt to defend himself against every accusation or explain his private life to strangers, only a brief acknowledgment that false information had been deliberately circulated and that legal action would follow.

Liuxian’s gaze lingered on the final paragraph before he locked his phone.

A voice came from beside him, drawing his attention back to the meeting.

"The eastern section is still behind schedule. If we approve the revised layout today, construction can begin on the guest villas once the foundation work is finished."

Liuxian raised his head and looked across the resort site.

The project had already taken shape around them. The main structure was rising beyond the temporary fencing. At the same time, workers moved between the marked sections of the property, and engineers stood around the architectural plans spread across a large folding table.

This was why he had come to HWI in the first place. The resort was one of the company’s major projects, and there were still plenty of decisions that required his on-site presence.

He placed his phone back into his pocket.

"Show me the revised plan."

One of the architects immediately unfolded the updated drawings, and Liuxian bent over the table with the rest of the team. He listened as they explained the changes to the guest villas, the access roads, and the placement of the main facilities, occasionally stopping them to ask about costs or timelines whenever something didn’t make sense.

His attention was where it needed to be.

Yet when the discussion paused, his thoughts returned briefly to the statement.

He knew Guiying wouldn’t ask him to stay away if he truly needed him. That was what made Liuxian agree to remain in HWI. Guiying had never been the type to make an empty request, and when he’d asked him to trust him, Liuxian had understood exactly what he meant.

Still, there was one part of the statement he couldn’t simply read as a husband.

The allegations involving Xue Peng.

Liuxian’s expression hardened for a moment.

He knew enough about Guiying’s past to understand that whoever had written those accusations hadn’t simply invented random gossip. They had taken something painful and twisted it into something that could be used against him.

That meant the person behind the rumors knew something.

Perhaps not everything. But enough.

"Mr. Liu?"

Liuxian looked up. The project manager was waiting for his answer.

He glanced down at the plans again before pointing towards one of the marked sections. "Move the service access further east. If we leave it here, it’ll interfere with the guest traffic once the resort opens."

The manager immediately made a note.

Liuxian didn’t ask anyone to investigate the scandal. Guiying had chosen Bai Feng for the legal side and Fu Pei for everything that needed to be uncovered. Interfering would only undermine the trust Guiying had specifically asked him to give.

When the meeting finally broke for a short inspection of the eastern section, Liuxian stepped away from the group and checked his phone again.

The number of reports had increased.

So had the comments.

He didn’t open them.

Instead, he sent Guiying a message.

[Have you eaten?]

The reply came quickly.

Liuxian stared at the screen for a second before smiling. At least one of them was listening.

He slipped the phone back into his pocket and looked towards the unfinished resort stretching across the property.

There was still a great deal of work waiting for him here.

So he would finish it. As for what was happening back home, he would trust Guiying to handle it.

For now.

Xue Peng noticed the strange looks as soon as he stepped into the employee dormitory.

The corridor was usually noisy in the morning, filled with trainees rushing to their schedules and complaining about instructors.

Today, the conversations seemed to die whenever he passed by. Several people stared at him openly before lowering their voices. Others looked away with undisguised contempt.

Xue Peng frowned.

He had already been miserable enough since Yang Entertainment recalled him. He had kept his head down, hoping that staying quiet would allow the previous incident to fade into the background. Instead, whatever had happened overnight seemed to have made things even worse.

His phone vibrated as he reached the stairs.

He pulled it out, expecting another message about his training schedule, only to find a notification from Yang Entertainment.

The company had sent him a Weibo link with a brief instruction to read it immediately.

Xue Peng opened the link. His footsteps slowed.

The color drained from his face as his eyes raced across the post.

Guiying??

The allegations were already spreading across the platform, and when Xue Peng reached the section concerning himself, his fingers tightened around the phone.

How did they know about this?

His first thought was Guiying. It couldn’t be.

If Guiying had exposed him, why would the post portray Guiying as the guilty party? The entire story had been twisted until Xue Peng appeared to be another victim of Guiying’s supposed behavior.

His teeth caught his lower lip.

This was bad. His reputation had already suffered enough. If people believed this story, whatever chance he had of recovering at Yang Entertainment would disappear completely.

He locked his phone and hurried towards his room. He needed somewhere private to think.

He had barely reached the end of the corridor when several alphas stepped into his path.

Xue Peng stopped. Their expressions made his stomach drop.

One of them looked him over with open disgust. "So you’re the type to get down and dirty with his cousin. Was your cousin’s pussy that sweet you had to shove your dick inside?"

The man stared at him for several seconds before giving a cold laugh.
