The time is almost right; it’s about time to prepare for dinner.

Lou Xi called the guests to the dining room, while Qin Mobai went into the garden, took out his phone, and dialed Fu Sinian.

“What’s up?” Fu Sinian’s voice sounded hoarse, as if he had smoked too much, leaving him uncomfortable.

“Today, the Lu Family came to propose,” Qin Mobai said lightly, “Lu Jin and Mo Xi.”

After he finished speaking, the person on the other end seemed to fall silent, and Qin Mobai gave Fu Sinian enough time to consider this reality.

After a long while, Fu Sinian finally spoke, “That’s great. I’ve met Lu Jin a few times; he’s a good guy. If he can really be with Mo Xi, they should make a very happy couple.”

Listening to Fu Sinian’s voice, Qin Mobai felt it was even more hoarse than before. Apparently, the proposal from the Lu Family had dealt a significant blow to Fu Sinian.

Qin Mobai continued, “I also think Lu Jin is good. Uncle and Aunt are very satisfied with him. If it’s confirmed today, an engagement ceremony will be held soon, and once Mo Xi finishes school, they can get married.”

This is a very real problem. If Qin Moxi and Lu Jin do end up together, then engagement and marriage are just a matter of time, and inevitable.

So Qin Mobai had to tell Fu Sinian about these things in advance, to prevent him from regretting it later on.

“Then congratulations to the both of them in advance.”

“Fu Sinian, we’ve been friends for so many years; don’t keep things from me. What is your true attitude towards Mo Xi? If you want to wait for her, I can hold off Uncle on this end for you. But I can only help you for one or two years at most.” Being friends with Qin Mobai at this level is already quite commendable.

What more could he do?

“No need. Mo Xi has her own choices, and no matter who she’s with, I wish her the best.”

However, Fu Sinian’s attitude left Qin Mobai unsure of how to proceed, what more could he do?

“Then suit yourself; just don’t regret it when Mo Xi and Lu Jin finally get married.” After saying this, Qin Mobai hung up the phone, unsure of what Fu Sinian was really thinking.

Turning around, he saw Lu Xingchen standing in the garden, though he didn’t know when she had arrived.

He was unsure how much of the call’s content Lu Xingchen had overheard.

“Let’s go in for dinner; it’s almost time,” Qin Mobai said calmly. As a married man, he was adept at maintaining a distance from other single women.

“Mr. Qin, could I have a word with you?” Lu Xingchen seemed genuinely eager to have a conversation with Qin Mobai.

Qin Mobai hesitated for a moment, then said, “Alright.”

“I’ve actually heard Sinian mention you many times; you’re a very important friend to him,” Lu Xingchen started, focusing on things related to Fu Sinian.

Qin Mobai guessed what Lu Xingchen was trying to convey. Was she asking him not to interfere with the matters concerning Qin Moxi, Fu Sinian, and her and Lu Jin?

“If we can become relatives in the future, it would indeed be a joyous occasion.”

So, that was what she meant.

“Whether we become relatives depends on how things progress between Mo Xi and Lu Jin. It’s not just about our families getting along well; Mo Xi doesn’t have to marry Lu Jin unless she truly likes him,” Qin Mobai understood that in high society, marriages had become a common affair, but deep down, he still hoped Qin Moxi could be with someone she genuinely liked.

Listening to Qin Mobai’s words, Lu Xingchen’s expression flickered, perhaps not expecting him to speak that way.
