After the Divorce, I Unlocked a Perfect Life
Chapter 384 - 238: Fight the Landlord (2)
"I... I’m not going to eat. I have class this morning, so I have to go."
Shen Qingqiu hurriedly put on her shoes, as flustered as a student caught cheating.
"Then I won’t keep you."
"Y-You... wait for my call. I’ll treat you to a meal when I have time."
"Okay."
Shen Qingqiu left. ’Watching her get so flustered she could barely speak was pretty amusing,’ he thought.
After quickly washing up, Lin Jiang was about to head to the office when his phone rang. It was a call from Feng Qi.
"Brother Jiang, are you home?"
"I am. What’s up?"
"I’m right here at Century Triumph. Can I come over for a bit?"
"Of course you can."
"Have you eaten breakfast? I can grab something and bring it over."
"Sure. Just get whatever looks good."
"Okay."
About twenty minutes later, the doorbell rang. Lin Jiang buzzed Feng Qi up.
She was wearing a gray bodycon dress that stretched tautly over her ample chest.
"Coming over so early in the morning... something must be up, right?"
The moment she saw Lin Jiang, Feng Qi threw her arms around him.
"Does missing you count as ’something being up’?"
"Are you missing me, or are you just hungry?"
"Hungry."
"Which mouth is hungry?"
"Both of them," Feng Qi said, looking at Lin Jiang.
"Today, I can finally taste what it’s like to have you all to myself."
With that, Feng Qi slid down from Lin Jiang’s embrace, already ravenous.
"Let me eat breakfast first."
"You eat yours, and I’ll eat mine. We won’t get in each other’s way," Feng Qi mumbled indistinctly.
"I can’t very well eat standing up, can I?"
"Good point. Let’s go to the kitchen."
And so, the two relocated to the kitchen. Lin Jiang sat in a chair while Feng Qi knelt under the table.
After a quick breakfast, Feng Qi finished her appetizer and draped herself over the edge of the dining table.
After more than an hour of "riding the bicycle," Feng Qi collapsed onto the sofa, utterly exhausted. Her hair was a mess, and she lay there like a puddle of mud.
Feng Qi was starting to have some regrets.
She could barely handle a second round; the first one alone had nearly been the death of her.
But as deadly as it was, it was still better than not getting enough to eat.
"So, what was so important that you had to come over this morning?"
After resting for a while, Feng Qi recovered some of her strength.
"Yesterday, Fangfei and I were having dinner at home, and she talked to me for a while. I got the feeling she was trying to tell me something."
"What did you talk about?"
"She asked me to share my thoughts on you, and she kept asking over and over. I feel like she might know what happened that night."
"The night we had dinner at your place?"
"Mhm," Feng Qi said with a nod.
"I just get the feeling she was testing me, trying to trap me with my own words."
Lin Jiang thought back to that night. "As I recall, you weren’t that loud, and she was pretty drunk. She probably couldn’t have heard anything."
Feng Qi’s face flushed red. "I wasn’t that loud at first, but I lost control later on. I’d been drinking that day, too, and with the alcohol in my system, I just let go."
"If that’s the case, then it’s possible. Her intuition is pretty sharp."
"It’s not just possible. I think she definitely knows. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have said those things to me. It was too weird."
"And? Was she angry? Did she say she’s cutting you off?"
Feng Qi suddenly perked up, her eyes shining.
"Not only was she not angry, but from the way she was talking, it seemed like she had other ideas... like she wanted to do something... exciting, together."
"Something exciting, together?"
"Yeah. Like the three of us playing ’Fight the Landlord’ together."
"She’d really be into something like that? Now *I’m* getting excited."
Feng Qi chuckled. "Well, women are all proper on the surface, but in private, we talk about everything. Before we met you, the two of us had already talked about this kind of thing. We both thought it sounded pretty exciting."
Lin Jiang’s interest was piqued. He felt an itch that was hard to scratch.
He’d had this idea for a long time, but he never thought it would be with the two of them that it first became a possibility.
"So, what did you say?"
"What could I say? I just had to play dumb. After all, I wasn’t entirely sure what she was getting at," Feng Qi said with a shrug.
"Did she say anything else?"
"She did. She said she wants to invite you over for dinner tonight and told me to come home early."
"In that case, does that mean there’s going to be a big battle tonight?"
"It’s possible. And Brother Jiang, let me tell you, Fangfei’s probably more open-minded than you think."
Feng Qi said mysteriously,
"I’ve seen some of the videos on her phone. There were definitely some of... that type."
"What about you?"
"I haven’t seen any... I’ve only heard about it. But if it’s with you, Brother Jiang, I think I could give it a try..."
’Well, there’s nothing more to say then. Time to get pedaling.’
"Do you know why I came here?" Feng Qi asked, looking at Lin Jiang.
Lin Jiang shook his head.
"Fangfei was the one who told me to come over. She said she’s on duty this morning but can leave at noon. She told me to come find her, and we’re supposed to meet at the coffee shop by the entrance later."
"So you came early to get a full meal."
"Hehe, I was craving it," Feng Qi said.
"I bet when she asked me to meet her, she’s going to bring this up again."
"Then just let things happen naturally."
"Mhm."
After their "exercise," the two left the apartment.
Lin Jiang went back to the office, and Feng Qi went to the coffee shop at the sales center.
She ordered two coffees and waited a short while before she saw Zhao Fangfei walk in, carrying her bag.
"Feifei, over here!"
Seeing Feng Qi, Zhao Fangfei quickened her pace.
"You lazy bum, this is the first time you’ve ever been early."
"Hehe, that’s not true. I can be diligent once in a while."
Having just eaten her fill at Lin Jiang’s place, Feng Qi felt a little guilty.
"What’s with today? Suddenly asking me out for coffee," Feng Qi said with mock seriousness.
"Miss Zhao, please cherish this opportunity. I’m a very busy woman, you know. The kind who makes hundreds of thousands a minute. Don’t waste my time."
"Oh, get out of here. Your time is even less valuable than mine," Zhao Fangfei said.
"I want to talk to you about Brother Jiang."
Feng Qi’s heart skipped a beat.
’I knew it,’ she thought. ’She’s going to lay her cards on the table.’
"What about Brother Jiang? Are you two about to tie the knot?"
"Tell me the truth. The night we had dinner together, did something happen between you and Brother Jiang?"
"What are you talking about? How could anything happen between me and Brother Jiang? He’s your boyfriend."
"Still denying it? I heard everything," Zhao Fangfei said with certainty.
"You were drunk that night. You must have been hearing things."
"Absolutely not! I would never touch my best friend’s man," Feng Qi flatly denied.
"Don’t get so worked up. Even if something did happen, I wouldn’t say anything."
"Uh... what are you trying to say?"
Feng Qi had a feeling that Zhao Fangfei was about to get to the point.
"How about... we do it together?"
"Together?"
"Don’t play innocent. You know exactly what I’m talking about."
"Of course I know what you mean. I just never thought you’d be the one to say it."
Feng Qi narrowed her eyes at Zhao Fangfei. "I saw movies about this stuff on your phone before. You’re a wild one, aren’t you?"
"Hey, don’t just point fingers at me. We’re two of a kind," Zhao Fangfei said.
"Just tell me if you want to try it or not."
"Wouldn’t that be stealing my best friend’s boyfriend? I can’t do that," Feng Qi said, feigning indignation.
"I studied dance, you know. I’m flexible, I can do the splits, and I know more tricks than you. What if Brother Jiang falls in love with me?"
"Not a chance. You think I have this body for nothing?" Zhao Fangfei said, puffing out her chest.
"Damn! Those two things of yours are a foul."
"Forget about fouls for a second. Just tell me if you want to try it."
"I’m not telling!"
"Still playing innocent with me, huh?" Zhao Fangfei said.
"I’m not going to waste any more words on you. I have the day off today, and I’ve invited Brother Jiang over for dinner tonight. If you’re in, have Brother Jiang pick you up and come back together. If you’re not, find somewhere else to be for a while. I’ll even cover the cost of a hotel room for you. Just don’t come home tonight."
