After the Divorce, I Unlocked a Perfect Life
Chapter 511: Come Home With Me for the New Year (Part 2)
After replying to a few messages, Lin Jiang opened the box office rankings.
A total of 14 movies were released during the entire New Year’s Day period.
Xia Luote’s Troubles was ranked fourth, with a box office of 6 million.
From midnight last night until now, only a little over seven hours had passed, and that was mostly from midnight showings. To have achieved this result was pretty decent.
The one in first place was a film by the great director Zhang Mou.
The one in second place was a Hollywood movie.
The third was a major animated feature film, also a big IP that had been developed for many years.
Lin Jiang had nothing to complain about with these three films temporarily ranked ahead of his.
And in fifth place was *Goodbye, Clarity*, a film funded and shot by Zhou Jin, with a box office of 5.4 million, only 600,000 less than *Xia Luote’s Troubles*.
‘They didn’t beat me on the first day, so it’ll be impossible for them to catch up.’
This was also the best proof that box office success doesn’t rely on online popularity; Liu Wenwen had failed to carry the movie.
It also showed that the audience’s eyes were sharp; relying solely on fan consumption couldn’t prop up the box office.
Closing the real-time box office, Lin Jiang opened Douban. The scores weren’t out yet, but he estimated they would probably be up this afternoon.
After getting dressed, Lin Jiang went to the bathroom to wash up. Qin Youyou had thoughtfully prepared a towel for him and had even squeezed the toothpaste onto his toothbrush.
After finishing breakfast at the Qin Family’s home, Lin Jiang prepared to take his leave.
But from the time he woke up to after breakfast, Lin Jiang hadn’t seen Qin Yangyang, though he didn’t ask about her.
‘In Qin Zhengqing and Jiang Rongmin’s eyes, I’m a couple with Qin Youyou. It wouldn’t be right to ask about Qin Yangyang for no reason.’
“Xiaojiang.”
Jiang Rongmin called out and brought out the gifts that were placed by the sofa.
“I don’t know what your mother likes, so I just bought a few things. Take them with you when you go home today.”
Lin Jiang glanced down.
He saw ginseng and sea cucumber—they looked like nutritional supplements.
“You’re too kind, Aunt Jiang. I can’t take these. You should keep them.”
“We’re not strangers. If I tell you to take them, just take them. Say hello to your mother for me when you get back.”
“I will.”
After one polite refusal, Lin Jiang didn’t insist. He accepted the gifts and said his goodbyes.
Down in the garage, he put the gifts in the car, and Lin Jiang called Yang Tao.
“Did you deliver the car?”
“I’m on my way there now. I’ll be there soon.”
“Once the car is delivered, you’re free. You’ve been busy for over half a year, so go home and stay for a few extra days. No need to rush back.”
“Thanks, Brother Jiang.”
After hanging up on Yang Tao, Lin Jiang started to drive out.
BEEP BEEP BEEP—
Before he was even out of the garage, he heard a horn honk. He turned his head and saw Qin Yangyang’s BMW 7 Series.
‘Didn’t she leave already?’
Qin Yangyang drove her car over and rolled down the window.
“Follow me.”
With that, Qin Yangyang drove off, and Lin Jiang followed behind.
The garage was huge. After a series of turns, they arrived at a very secluded corner where no other cars were parked.
“You never left?” Lin Jiang asked.
“It wouldn’t be good for them to see us leaving together, so I left first.”
Qin Yangyang opened her trunk and took out a small red bag.
“This is a gift I bought for Auntie. Take it back with you.”
Lin Jiang took it out for a look. It was a gold bracelet. He weighed it in his hand; from the weight, it must have cost at least tens of thousands.
“I didn’t know what to buy. You think Auntie will like it?”
“She’d love it even if you bought her a blade of grass, let alone a gold bracelet.”
“That may be true, but you still have to put in some effort.”
“Qin Lu certainly knows how to win over a future mother-in-law. Now I don’t have to worry about any mother-in-law problems.”
“Of course. I’m very good at making my mother-in-law happy, hmph.”
Lin Jiang wrapped one arm around Qin Yangyang’s waist and gave her a kiss on the lips.
“It must be tough on you, Qin Lu, having to buy a gift for your mother-in-law and deliver it so secretly.”
“As long as you know,” Qin Yangyang pouted, a hint of grievance on her face.
He was clearly her man, but now her younger sister was about to steal him away. Her feeling of grievance was understandable.
Dotingly, he stroked her head, then gave her another kiss on the cheek.
“I’m leaving now. I’ll make it up to you when I get back.”
“Hey, wait a second…”
“What’s wrong?”
“Are you in a hurry to get back?”
Lin Jiang checked his watch. It was just after eight in the morning; there was still plenty of time.
“Not really. Why?”
Qin Yangyang glanced around and whispered secretively:
“There’s no one here…”
Lin Jiang’s eyes lit up. He instantly understood what Qin Yangyang meant and also noticed her little scheme.
‘She chose this spot for its seclusion, not to hide from the Qin Family, but from any passersby. A corner this remote… probably no one would pass by even by the time we’re finished. And her outfit was meticulously planned, too. She usually wears bodycon or wrap dresses, but today, she’s just wearing a loose maxi dress. This way, all I have to do is lift her dress… So the gift was just a pretense; what she really wanted was to ‘play cards’.’
“This dress is nice, very convenient…”
Seeing that Lin Jiang had discovered her little scheme, Qin Yangyang stomped her foot in embarrassment.
“Get in the car, quick.”
Qin Yangyang knew the drill. She knew her own car wouldn’t work, so she went to Lin Jiang’s.
The two armrests in the middle were also put to use on Qin Yangyang for the first time…
This “round,” there wasn’t much foreplay. A few knocks on the door, and then a sliding tackle straight through the entrance.
It was obvious Qin Yangyang had been holding back for a long time. Even without foreplay, it didn’t hinder the entrance.
By the time they finished, it was nearly ten o’clock. When they parted, both were refreshed and in high spirits.
