Chapter 390 -385: The New Daughter-in-law Is Going to Meet Her Mother-in-law~

“Ah Ming, are you two dating?”

Wang Ming was a little flustered. After his mom exposed his biggest secret, he was so embarrassed he felt like his whole body was itching.

“Mom, you… you already knew?”

“With acting skills like yours? Every thought you have is written all over your face, and you still thought you could fool your mom?” Li Weiya teased with a chuckle.

She smiled lightly and asked casually, “Did you two start going out during the New Year?”

Hearing this, Wang Ming’s eyes widened. ‘Mom even knows that?’ He thought he’d been so careful hiding it for so long, but it turned out his mom had seen right through his little act.

Since she already knew, there was no point in denying it anymore.

“Yeah…” Wang Ming lowered his head and took a sip of water, his ears having already turned bright red.

Li Weiya glanced at him. “You’re a grown man, and you’re still embarrassed about being in a relationship? Look at Ah Xia and Yanwan. They were open about their relationship, met each other’s parents in high school, and now they’re engaged. Besides, it’s not like I forbid you from dating. Life is short. When you meet a good girl, you should hold on tight. Don’t wait until you’ve lost her to have regrets.”

Wang Ming blinked.

“So, Shen Ying…”

“Don’t you know whether she’s a good girl or not?”

Wang Ming nodded emphatically. “The absolute best!”

“Well, there you have it,” Li Weiya said in a light tone. “Yingying, she… she really is a wonderful girl.”

Hearing his mom’s approval, Wang Ming’s face broke into a huge grin.

“So, where did you get a room for Yingying?”

“At the same hotel you stayed at when you first arrived in the Imperial Capital.”

“Oh, that’s not too far.” Li Weiya walked to the window and looked in the direction of the hotel, her view blocked by a few buildings.

“So what’s your plan for spending time with her these next few days?”

She had already heard from Jiang Xia that her son had taken five days off. It seemed he was planning to make up for the time they were forced to spend apart in their long-distance relationship.

“I don’t really have any special plans. We’ll just wander around, eat, and explore,” Wang Ming said honestly.

“Hmm…”

Li Weiya nodded slightly. ‘A couple’s time together doesn’t necessarily require a particularly romantic setting. What’s important are the little moments spent with the one you love—sharing a single skewer of tanghulu, watching the same movie, holding hands while walking through the old alleys of the Imperial Capital, taking happy photos together in front of various attractions…’

“My camera is in the drawer in my room. Take it if you need it. And if you’re short on money, don’t hesitate to tell me.”

“Mom, it’s okay. My phone is fine for photos, and my salary is more than enough for daily expenses,” Wang Ming said.

“By the way, last summer vacation, you were really down for a while. Was the girl who rejected you Yingying?” Li Weiya asked suddenly.

Wang Ming looked baffled. ‘How does Mom even know about that? Was I that obvious back then?’

“Don’t look at me like that. It wasn’t Ah Xia who told me. Generally speaking, people don’t have such big emotional swings unless they’ve had their heart broken.”

Li Weiya looked at him and asked, “So what exactly happened?”

To be honest, Li Weiya had always wanted to understand what had happened—who had hurt her son so deeply.

“It wasn’t really a big deal, just…”

Wang Ming pursed his lips. Now that he and Shen Ying were together, that past he once found hard to talk about had become like a cup of coffee—bitter, yet with a rich, mellow aroma.

“I had a crush on her in high school, but then I got into the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and she had to stay in Yu Du. She didn’t think we could have a future together, so she decisively nipped any chance of a relationship in the bud.”

Hearing this, Li Weiya nodded in approval. “I can see that. Yingying is very level-headed.”

‘Unlike other young girls who get swept up in romance and love blindly, only to have the long-distance relationship end in a breakup anyway.’

“Alright, that’s settled then. I’m going to bed. You should get some sleep too.”

With her questions answered, Li Weiya gave a soft yawn and headed to her bedroom.

Back in his room, Wang Ming lay on his bed, took out his phone, and continued chatting with Shen Ying.

“Ying, my mom already knows.”

“Huh? Auntie knows I’m in the Imperial Capital?” Shen Ying quickly replied.

“No, she knows that we’re dating.”

“!!!!”

Shen Ying was stunned. “When did she find out?”

“Probably around the New Year. It seems like she’s known for a while but just never called me out on it.” Wang Ming was filled with emotion. ‘As expected of Mom. Experience really does count for everything.’

‘So stupid of me to think I was being so careful hiding it for this long.’

Shen Ying held her breath, her heart pounding as she typed one key at a time, “So… did Auntie say anything?”

“Hehe, guess?”

“Guess my ass! Hurry up and tell me!!!”

Shen Ying was on edge. If Wang Ming were in front of her right now, she would’ve smacked him on the head.

“My mom said…”

Wang Ming paused slightly, deliberately keeping her in suspense.

“Said what!?”

“I think I suddenly forgot. Let me think…”

Shen Ying: “? How could you forget something so important? You actually forgot?”

She could tell at a glance that Wang Ming was just teasing her, but she was still so mad!

“Dummy! Are you asking for a beating? Spill it!”

“Hehehe, alright, alright, I’ll stop teasing you. My mom said you’re a good girl, that I should spend lots of time with you these next few days, and that she doesn’t object to us dating.”

Shen Ying was stunned for a moment. “Auntie… she really said that?”

“What else?” Wang Ming laughed foolishly. ‘If I’d known my mom was so open-minded, I wouldn’t have been so secretive.’

“She also said you’re practically her apprentice, that she thinks you’re excellent in every way… basically, she’s approved of you as her daughter-in-law!”

Seeing the words “daughter-in-law,” Shen Ying blushed reflexively.

“Pfft, I haven’t agreed to that yet~” Her voice inadvertently took on a playful, pouting tone.

“I don’t care. If you don’t agree, you can go tell my mom that.” Wang Ming decided to be as shameless as possible.

“Hmph!”

Shen Ying sent a pouting emoji. This guy actually dared to threaten her now.

“Ying, want to have dinner with my mom tomorrow night? Of course, Old Jiang and his wife will be there too.”

“Okay…”

The thought of meeting Li Weiya officially as his girlfriend made Shen Ying feel uncontrollably nervous.

“Hehehe, don’t tell me you’re already getting shy?” Wang Ming snickered to himself.

Shen Ying put on a brave face and said defensively, “What are you talking about? You said it yourself, Auntie is practically my teacher. Why would I be shy about meeting my teacher?”

“The past is the past, and now is now. Your status is different. In other words, the new bride is about to meet her mother-in-law~”

Shen Ying was mortified. “Hey, you say that again! Believe it or not, I’ll bite you tomorrow!”

“Ooh, you can bite my neck, my lips, my hands…”

“Hmph! I’m ignoring you.”

Wang Ming let out a soft breath with a silly grin. “Ying, get some rest. See you tomorrow.”

“Dummy. See you tomorrow.”
