After the Divorce, My Wife and I Were Both Reborn
Chapter 399 - 394: A Reluctant Farewell
Chapter 399: Chapter 394: A Reluctant Farewell
「September 1st.」
Jiang Xia drove Wang Ming and Shen Ying to the airport. Li Weiya had wanted to come see her daughter-in-law off too, but after some thought, she decided to give the young couple a chance to say goodbye in private.
But before Shen Ying left the house, she took out a red envelope she had prepared long ago and secretly slipped it into her backpack.
According to custom, a daughter-in-law should receive a gift on her first visit. And after spending the last two months together, Li Weiya had grown increasingly fond of Shen Ying.
Shen Ying was reluctant to leave the home where she had stayed for two months in the Imperial Capital. No matter what, Aunt Li had taken great care of her in every way. ’If this is a preview of what my relationship with my mother-in-law will be like after marrying Wang Ming, then I’m surprisingly looking forward to it a little.’
Snapping back to reality, Shen Ying glanced at the long line for the security check, then turned to Wang Ming and the others. "It’s about time. I should go in."
"Alright. Remember to send a message after you land safely," Jiang Xia said with a nod.
Lin Yanwan, feeling emotional, hugged her good friend. The next time they’d see each other would probably be during winter break. She was losing a close friend she could talk to about anything.
"Yingying, I’ll miss you."
"SOB, SOB, Yanwan, I’ll miss you too..."
"By the way, is there anything you need me to help with?"
Shen Ying thought for a moment. "Keep an eye on that guy for me?"
Lin Yanwan couldn’t help but chuckle. "Don’t worry, Wang Ming would never even think of fooling around. In that respect, he’s even more reliable than Jiang Xia."
"That’s not true. The boss is the one who’s good to you. You have no idea how many women envy you."
Lin Yanwan simply smiled without a word. Her relationship with Jiang Xia couldn’t be described as a simple romance. Their love, spanning two lifetimes, had surpassed the understanding of ordinary people. Their names were deeply engraved in each other’s souls.
"Alright, I won’t waste any more of your time. Go say a proper goodbye to your blockhead," she teased.
Shen Ying’s face reddened as she gave a small nod.
Lin Yanwan walked over to Jiang Xia, leaving the remaining time to the couple, who were deeply in love but about to be separated.
Shen Ying looked up at her boyfriend, who had been a bit quiet the whole way, and took his hand.
"Blockhead, I’m leaving now," she whispered. "I’ll miss you. I’ll miss you so, so much. I’ll even dream about you every night."
Wang Ming pulled her into a hug, his nose twitching slightly. "Ying, I’ll miss you too."
"Hey, after I’m gone, you have to eat your meals on time, don’t stay up late, drink lots of water every day, listen to Auntie, and call me when you miss me, okay?"
"Mhm!" Wang Ming nodded emphatically. "You too. Take good care of yourself in Yu Du. Take medicine if you don’t feel well, and tell me if anything is bothering you. Don’t keep it bottled up. When the New Year comes, I’ll go home with you to see your parents."
The thought of bringing her boyfriend home to meet her parents for the New Year made Shen Ying a little shy.
"Okay."
The two of them hugged outside the airport for a while, whispering sweet nothings to each other. More than ten minutes passed without them noticing before the young couple finally, reluctantly, separated.
"Blockhead, I’m really going now." Shen Ying tilted her head up slightly to look into his eyes, her own gaze gentle.
Wang Ming pressed his lips together. As reluctant as he was, he had no choice but to nod. "Be careful on your way. You have to call me the moment you get off the plane."
"Mhm, I know."
"If anyone at school tries to pursue you, you better ignore them," Old Wang said seriously.
Shen Ying giggled. "I’ll tell them I have a boyfriend who’s an executive at Qitian Animation, and that should make them back off. Are you satisfied now?"
Wang Ming blinked. That was the perfect answer.
"You really are a blockhead. I won’t like anyone but you. Even though I’ll be at school, my heart is here with you. So just wait for me in the Imperial Capital, and take good care of Auntie."
She stood on her tiptoes and, in front of everyone, gently kissed her beloved’s lips.
A few seconds later, her soft, delicate lips parted from his, and Shen Ying’s face was flushed red.
"I’m going now, for real. Miss you. And don’t you be sad, okay?~"
"I know."
Their clasped hands reluctantly separated. Shen Ying walked toward the security gate, looking back every few steps, until she disappeared completely into the terminal.
Wang Ming felt a sting in his nose. His heart felt empty, and a look of dejection filled his eyes.
He already couldn’t live without Shen Ying.
Just then, Jiang Xia walked over and patted his shoulder. "Old Wang, you know what they say: absence makes the heart grow fonder. The next time you two meet, your relationship will be even stronger."
"I know. It just hurts a bit right now. I’ll be fine in a few days." Wang Ming took a deep breath and reined in his emotions.
"Good, I’m glad you see it that way. Alright, let’s head back."
"Yeah, okay."
The three of them started walking toward the parking lot when they were suddenly recognized by three people who looked like students, probably flying to another province for school.
"Are... are you President Jiang?"
"No, you have the wrong person," Jiang Xia denied flatly.
"No, no, no, it is you! I’ve seen you on TV! And you—you’re Teacher Lin! Wow, you’re so much prettier in person than in your videos. Teacher Lin, I’m a huge fan! I watch every single one of your videos on D Station!" Having run into them at the airport, the fan was incredibly excited.
Jiang Xia felt a little helpless. ’Who would have thought we’d be recognized even in the bustling Imperial City Airport, with so many people coming and going?’
"Thank you," Lin Yanwan said with a smile.
"Can... can I ask for an autograph?" the fan asked, a hopeful look in their eyes.
"Of course," said Lin Yanwan.
They hurriedly rummaged through their bags to find a pen and a valuable postcard. Jiang Xia scribbled his name in a few strokes, and Lin Yanwan wrote hers next to it. After a moment’s thought, she drew a small heart between their names.
"Thank you, thank you~"
The fans also asked for a photo together. At this request, the two of them exchanged a glance, showing just a hint of resignation, but they nodded in agreement.
A few minutes later, the fans left, satisfied with their photo. The three of them quickly returned to the car, afraid of being recognized again.
"Is this what they call the troubles of being famous?" Wang Ming couldn’t help but laugh.
"Looks like we’ll have to start wearing masks when we go out from now on," Jiang Xia said seriously.
Dili Dili was now widely beloved by young people, and as the owner of D Station, his handsome face had likely been seen by anyone who used the site. Plus, he had gained a lot of fans at the Golden Dragon Award ceremony for animation. In a way, there wasn’t much difference between him and a celebrity now, not to mention that both he and Lin Yanwan had the faces of movie stars to begin with.
The three drove back to the company. Meanwhile, the fans from earlier immediately used a laptop to post about their encounter with President Jiang on D Station. The title was: "Ran into President Jiang at the airport! Teacher Lin is even prettier in person than in her videos!"
