Chapter 450 - 226: Battle of Divine Spirits, The Purest Power
Chapter 450: Chapter 226: Battle of Divine Spirits, The Purest Power
"It’s the Spider Queen!"
The Red-haired Wizard’s expression turned grim.
The other three Wizards were the same.
The Spider Queen, Rose, had finally descended in her true form!
All the Wizards stared intently at the female Dark Elf on the screen, their expressions varied.
This included Pei Ze; it was his first time truly seeing the real body of a Divine Spirit.
Just then, something unexpected happened.
A silver glint appeared above the battlefield. It exploded like a firework, scattering into countless streams of silver light that shot out in all directions. In an instant, a faintly visible net of silver light enveloped the entire battlefield.
"It’s a Spatial Lock," the Red-haired Wizard said with an admiring expression. "Only the Silver Moon Maiden, with her profound mastery of the Rule of Space, could cast a Spatial Lock of such a massive scale. The Spider Queen can no longer leave this plane now, not even to return to her Divine Kingdom."
"But we can’t interfere either," another, bald Wizard added immediately.
"It doesn’t matter," Mo Weng said calmly. "It’s good to let the Silver Moon Maiden wear down some of the Spider Queen’s power first."
The Wizards all nodded.
Above the battlefield, Rose showed no surprise at the sudden turn of events. In fact, she seemed to have expected it.
Silvery moonlight poured down from the sky like molten silver a hundred meters away, and a graceful figure slowly walked out from within it.
It was a young woman of exquisite beauty.
She was very tall, nearly three meters, a giant by both elven and human standards. Yet, she didn’t seem clumsy at all; instead, she exuded a delicate and slender grace.
Her long, shimmering silver hair cascaded down like a waterfall to her ankles. A silver radiance swirled and flashed around her, enveloping her entire body like a transparent robe.
Rose’s gaze fell upon the maiden. A mocking smile appeared on her face, but her purple eyes were devoid of expression.
"Long time no see, Yicui."
"Yes, it has been a long time."
The Silver Moon Maiden stared intently into Rose’s eyes and drew a gleaming silver Longsword with a reverse grip. The tip of the sword vibrated in the air, emitting a crisp sound.
That was the Crescent Blade, the Divine Artifact for which the Silver Moon Maiden was famous throughout the Multiverse.
She raised her Moon Blade and pointed it at the Spider Goddess.
"Today is the day you fall, Rose."
Rose ignored the Silver Moon Maiden’s provocation. She was still smiling, her demeanor relaxed, as if she were on vacation.
"You’ve said similar things many times, Yicui, but the result is always the same. You are no match for me."
The Silver Moon Maiden’s face fell. With a cold snort, she said no more. The Moon Blade in her hand began to vibrate rapidly. A bright, full moon rose behind her, illuminating the night sky and pushing back the heavy, dark clouds slightly. Then, she thrust the sword straight at Rose’s chest.
Rose floated backward, and Yicui gave chase.
In the blink of an eye, the two goddesses were locked in a fierce battle in the air.
Yicui’s movements were light and beautiful, every gesture steeped in a refined and elegant grace. Though it was a life-and-death struggle, it looked as if she were performing a dance of Swordsmanship.
Rose, by comparison, was far more bizarre.
She was like a spider dangling from a thread. The entire sky was filled with her webs. She moved straight forward and backward, as swift as the wind. Her movements seemed stiff and inflexible, but they were actually the most efficient paths and attack methods, calculated with the utmost precision and devoid of any flair.
Although it was a head-on battle, she made every attack feel like a sneak attack—the standard style of an assassin.
The Crescent Blade and the Spider Dagger clashed, erupting in a brilliant flash of light. A mixture of crisp and muffled sounds rang out.
The two combatants seemed completely oblivious. Invisible shockwaves spread out like ripples, tearing and shattering the surrounding void. Everything within was reduced to dust, only to reassemble in an instant, repeating the cycle over and over.
Suddenly, a brilliant purple light flared in Rose’s eyes. Layers of dark clouds rolled in from the heavens, an endless, surging pressure pouring out from them that made it nearly impossible to remain conscious. Only when Yicui swung her Moon Blade, reflecting the clear light of the bright full moon behind her and scattering it in all directions, could the darkness be slightly pushed back.
In the grand hall, the observing Wizards were mesmerized, their expressions dazed.
"So this is the power of a Divine Spirit..."
Lu Yan’s eyes were filled with awe.
Pei Ze stared intently at the battle on the screen, his heart pounding with a similar sense of shock.
The battle between the two goddesses involved no complex Magic, no roaring thunder or howling gales. There was only the most direct close-quarters combat and the clash of weapons. Yet, with every move, each strike contained the most profound Rule Power. Even space itself could not withstand the aftershocks of their fight.
’The greatest truths are the simplest!’
The thought suddenly surfaced in Pei Ze’s mind.
’When power reaches a certain level, all external forms are cast aside. The only thing pursued is the essence of power itself.’
’It’s the same for battles between the strong. In the end, it’s just a contest of the purest form of power.’
A look of longing flashed in Pei Ze’s eyes.
’One day, I’ll reach that level too.’
High in the sky, Yicui withstood Rose’s surprise attacks one after another, but her every counterattack was also cleverly dodged or parried.
And as time went on, the evenly matched battle gradually began to shift.
The Silver Moon Maiden was only a lesser deity, no match for Rose, who was a Middle-tier Deity.
After another clash, a jade-green light suddenly shot out from Rose’s dagger, striking toward Yicui like a meteor.
Yicui only had time to turn slightly to the side before the green light hit her. Instantly, a series of SIZZLES could be heard, as if she were being corroded by strong acid. Dozens of wounds suddenly appeared on her body, and they were visibly widening and deepening, as if someone were continuously pouring sulfuric acid on them.
Rose’s low chuckle cut through the din of the battlefield, reaching everyone’s ears clearly. It was immediately followed by a crisp ringing sound.
CLANG!
The Spider Dagger crossed the battlefield in an instant and struck the Crescent Blade. Yicui couldn’t hold on, and the weapon flew from her grasp.
Immediately after, a massive spiderweb that blotted out the sky fell from above, enveloping Yicui and wrapping her tightly like a cocoon.
"You’ve lost,"
Rose declared.
However, there was no fear or panic on Yicui’s face from within the web. Instead, a smile touched her lips.
Rose’s eyes narrowed. She immediately sensed something was wrong. Glancing back out of the corner of her eye, she saw that the Moon Blade Yicui had lost had turned into a streak of light and was now rushing at her from behind.
In the nick of time, Rose spun around to block, deflecting the Crescent Blade with her Spider Dagger with a loud CLANG.
But in the next moment, the Crescent Blade suddenly shattered into dozens of pieces that shot past the Spider Dagger like throwing knives and struck Rose.
In an instant, dozens of garish blossoms of blood bloomed on the Spider Goddess’s body.
Rose let out a muffled grunt. Purple Demon Fire ignited on her body as if to repair her wounds, but a silver light shone from within the cuts, constantly neutralizing the Demon Fire’s healing effect.
SHREEEED!
Seizing the opportunity, Yicui tore through the spiderweb and broke free, once again hovering high in the sky.
Rose stared at her with a cold expression. "To think you’d damage your Divine Artifact just to injure me," she said icily. "You’re really willing to pay any price."
Yicui said coldly, "I told you. Today is the day you fall."
"What can you possibly do in your current state?" Rose’s gaze swept over the wounds on Yicui’s body.
Although she was injured, Yicui’s injuries were more severe. She had also lost her Divine Artifact. Her situation was far worse than Rose’s.
But upon hearing this, Yicui gave a strange smile.
"My objective has been accomplished."
As she spoke, a brilliant silver light flared up on Yicui’s body. The next moment, she shattered completely, dissolving into motes of light that vanished into the air, leaving only a faint, lingering echo.
"Wizards of the Star Realm Alliance, now it’s your turn!"
The corner of Rose’s eye twitched. She raised her head and looked into the distance.
From within the distorted void, dozens of Wizard Towers emerged, flying toward her at high speed.
Back in the grand hall, on the stone platform.
The four Sixth-level Wizards rose to their feet. The Red-haired Wizard at their head spoke in a deep voice.
"Everyone, let the battle begin."
