Alien Species Invasion? I Kill Them Back.
Chapter 287: Sang Yin
Chapter 287: Chapter 287: Sang Yin
Sang Yin gradually awoke from her unconscious state.
Her consciousness slowly returned, but her eyelids felt heavy. She couldn’t see where she was. It felt like she was lying on a cold, hard tile floor, making her want to shiver despite the sweltering summer heat.
The terror she felt before passing out was gone, but a lingering fear remained, her heart still pounding erratically.
Then she heard the innocent voice of a little girl, which sounded like it was complaining—
"You can’t blame Cat Owl. They’re just easily spooked. It’s normal defensive behavior for Cat Owl to use Spiritual Suppression when it sees suspicious people. Who would have thought someone would show up around here in the middle of the night?"
A man said, "Luckily, they just fainted from the scare. If they had a heart condition, they’d probably be stone-cold dead by now. Tsk, what a pain. I say we just call Old Su to come deal with this."
Sang Yin recognized the voice as Zhou Diao’s. She had interviewed the Qingjiang Supervisory Team and remembered his voice.
"Deputy... Zhou..."
Sang Yin managed to force out the words.
Huangfu Miaomiao was taken aback. "Oh, the woman’s awake."
Li Qing said, "Let’s get her onto the sofa first. It probably takes a few hours for a normal person to recover after experiencing Spiritual Intimidation for the first time."
"Can’t you be a little more vigilant?" Huangfu Miaomiao said unhappily. "Even if they’re just ordinary people, we can’t rule out the possibility that they were sent by the Star Association."
"They are pretty suspicious," Zhou Diao said, frowning as he sized up Sang Yin on the floor.
"I’m not... not a suspicious person..." Sang Yin tried to get up, but she had no strength. She barely managed to prop her head up to defend herself. "I’m a reporter for Jiangliu News Weekly... My name is Sang Yin. Deputy Zhou, we met last month..."
Huangfu Miaomiao asked Zhou Diao, "So you two know each other?"
Zhou Diao rubbed his chin, studying Sang Yin more seriously. "I don’t have any memory of that..."
Huangfu Miaomiao turned her head and tattled to Feng Ling, "This woman is a liar!"
A cold sweat broke out on Sang Yin’s skin. She pushed herself up with more force, tilting her head back to explain, "I’m not, I’m not a liar! If you don’t believe me, you can check my credentials..."
Only then did Feng Ling come into focus. On the sofa before her sat a very young woman, barely in her early twenties, dressed in a loose, oversized T-shirt and short pajama bottoms. Her long hair hung freely, disheveled as if she had just woken up, and she seemed to have no intention of tidying it. She just sat there on the sofa, languid and calm.
Sang Yin’s heart pounded.
A moment ago, her heart had been racing from fear and nervousness. Now, it was from excitement!
She was finally seeing Feng Ling in the flesh! The strongest Hunter currently taking the country by storm!
Compared to the brief appearance on the livestream, the Feng Ling before her was so real it was almost unbelievable. Sang Yin was so thrilled that even her fingertips were tingling.
Feng Ling glanced down at the time on her phone. "Three-thirty in the morning... Even the patrol teams should be asleep by now. Are all reporters this dedicated these days?"
Zhou Diao sighed, complaining to Sang Yin, "Can’t you reporters be a bit more reasonable? If you want an interview, you can just call to arrange it. Coming out here in the middle of the night... what if something had actually happened to you? Who would be responsible then?"
’If calling actually worked, would I have bothered coming out here in the middle of the night?’ Sang Yin thought.
Just then, a pained groan came from beside her. Her colleague who had been with her was also slowly coming to.
Sang Yin formally introduced herself again. "I’m Sang Yin from Jiangliu News Weekly, and this is my colleague, Douzi. We aren’t suspicious people. We just drove over tonight to take a few photos for a news story and ended up in a car accident."
"I know. I’ll compensate you for the car repairs," Feng Ling replied lightly.
She had already learned some details about the cause of the accident from Old Three.
Old Three didn’t usually mess with humans intentionally. It was probably because it was nighttime and the reporter’s car got too close to the building that Old Three decided to test if they were a threat.
It hadn’t expected that a small test would cause the two reporters to crash their car.
’Next time, I’ll have Su Yuqing change the warning sign,’ Feng Ling thought. ’Instead of "Construction Ahead," it should say "Pollution Bodies Ahead. Trespassers Enter at Their Own Risk."’
’Yes, that’s right.’
’That’s what I’ll have it say.’
Feng Ling stood up and said to Zhou Diao, "Call Su Yuqing and have him come get them. I’m going up to bed."
Zhou Diao took out his phone with one hand and scratched his hair with the other. "I guess that’s the only way. It’s so late... if we let them leave on their own and something happens on the road, it’ll be a whole mess..."
Seeing Feng Ling turn to leave, Sang Yin shouted in a panic, "Feng Ling! Can I please ask you a few questions?!"
Feng Ling stopped in her tracks.
Sang Yin spoke in a rapid-fire torrent: "Why did you enter the Maze? What were you thinking when you faced the Maze Master? Why did you, who never appears before the media, show up on a livestream? What kind of feelings were behind you saying, ’I will find you’? Do you hate Alien Species? What’s your grudge with Xing Guang? Will you continue to challenge Mazes in the future? When is the next time? How will you decide on your partners? Do you care more about Card characteristics or a person’s character? What did you do before becoming a Hunter? How do you feel about the huge changes in your life? Do you know how famous you are right now? Is there anything you want to say to your fans?..."
Feng Ling turned back around and re-examined the woman before her.
She was taken aback by this reporter named Sang Yin.
"You said your name was Sang Yin, correct?" Feng Ling asked.
Sang Yin nodded hesitantly. "Yes... I’m a reporter with Jiangliu News Weekly. If it’s possible, I’d like to... I’d like to schedule an exclusive interview with you."
Feng Ling took a few steps closer, her hands stuffed in her pajama short pockets, and tilted her head to study Sang Yin carefully.
After a moment, she asked, "Do you know how to publish fake news?"
Sang Yin was stunned. She immediately stiffened her neck and answered seriously, "We have professional ethics! We would never publish fake news!"
Feng Ling was speechless.
’Professional ethics?’
’Your "professional ethics" involve driving over here in the middle of the night to secretly photograph me and nearly smashing through my courtyard wall?’
The astonishment on Feng Ling’s face was so obvious that Sang Yin felt awkward. She asked sheepishly, "...Do I have to publish fake news to get an exclusive interview?"
Feng Ling couldn’t answer her. In truth, her plan to feign weakness to lure out the Star Association was still just a vague idea. She needed to think more about how to execute it.
"Leave your contact information," Feng Ling said. "I’ll contact you when I need you."
Sang Yin recited her phone number.
Feng Ling memorized it and added it to her contacts.
Regardless, this reporter was worth keeping an eye on. At the very least, she had guts.
Beside them, Zhou Diao held up his phone. "Yo~ Just got off the phone. Old Su says he’ll be here any minute."
’Am I really leaving just like that?’ Sang Yin thought. ’But I asked so many questions, and Feng Ling didn’t answer a single one!’
’No!’
’I can’t!’
’I can’t leave with nothing!’
"Can I please take a picture?" Sang Yin asked anxiously. "Just one!"
"Sure," Feng Ling nodded.
Sang Yin was overjoyed. She hadn’t expected it to be so easy.
The next second, a giant monster that looked like a cross between a flood dragon and a python appeared before her eyes!
Sang Yin’s vision went black, and she fainted dead away.
Feng Ling: "..."
She took back her earlier assessment of the reporter.
