Chapter 530 - 293: Pure White Descent Ritual
Chapter 530: Chapter 293: Pure White Descent Ritual
The ominous premonition in Lu Cang’s heart intensified as he watched the churning sea.
His Prophet’s intuition for Seeking Fortune and Avoiding Misfortune continuously sent out warnings.
Yet, he couldn’t sense any way to escape.
It was as if the entire world had become an omen of disaster.
"Kid... you don’t look too happy," An Su said in Lu Cang’s mind.
’I’d be a fool to be happy right now.’
’The whole reason I fled to the Moon Sea was because I knew the Secret Sea was about to be destroyed.’
’So what’s the meaning of ending up right back where I started after all that?’
"Little Lu Cang."
Kumironi’s brow furrowed slightly as she looked over at Lu Cang.
With a single step, she appeared at Lu Cang’s side.
Lu Cang’s Qi had changed again. His Unsolvable Mystery did little to conceal it from Kumironi, and she could clearly sense how much stronger he’d become.
"This place... it seems to be the Secret Sea."
Lu Cang nodded slightly. "Yes."
Then, Lu Cang asked, "Sister Kumironi, what were the circumstances when you left the Secret Sea?"
Kumironi shook her head. "That person named Roya escaped."
"We didn’t give chase, because he had vanished without a trace. Then Iz started setting up the teleportation Magic."
"Everything was calm when we left. We didn’t see any signs of strange things to come."
Kumironi gazed at the surrounding waters, her expression just as worried. "Lu Cang, I remember your prophecy... you said the Secret Sea would be destroyed on April 1st."
Lu Cang nodded. "Yes."
"That should be today."
Lu Cang recalled what Aigemisa had said not long ago.
"A not-so-minor matter, of which you may have heard whispers. It is a tragedy that has yet to occur."
Considering what happened during the second trial...
Lu Cang could vaguely guess what Aigemisa meant.
’It wants us to save something from a tragedy that hasn’t happened yet.’
’And now we’ve appeared in the Secret Sea.’
’So, does Aigemisa want us to save the Secret Sea?’
Save it?
Heh.
Lu Cang sneered inwardly.
’I’m not nearly that powerful.’
Lu Cang bit his thumb, his brow furrowed deeply. "Kumironi."
"Do you... trust me?"
Kumironi tilted her head slightly, her smile as gentle as a spring breeze.
"Why ask something like that all of a sudden?"
"Little Lu Cang, we’ve seen everything you do and say... I’ve always thought you were someone worthy of trust."
Lu Cang paused. Kumironi’s genuine sincerity was both touching and bittersweet.
"Even though I’m a Death Priest?" Lu Cang asked.
Kumironi was still smiling. "Doesn’t Iz always say that? Power itself isn’t frightening; what’s frightening is the one who wields it."
"I’ve never cared that you’re a Death Priest, or any other Profession."
Lu Cang sighed inwardly. ’If I can help it, I really don’t want to disappoint her.’
Still, he said, "Sister Kumironi."
"If I said... that I can use the Pure White Descent Ritual..."
"What would you think?"
’Hey! Are you really telling the High Priest of the Life Church you can use the Pure White Descent Ritual? Are you trying to end your friendship with her?’ An Su chimed in.
’Shut up,’ Lu Cang shot back at An Su in his mind.
An Su clicked his tongue. ’Tsk, tsk. Just trying to give you some friendly advice. But I guess you just won’t listen to your elders.’
Kumironi froze for a moment.
"Little Lu Cang... Why are you telling me this?"
Lu Cang said, "Sister Kumironi, I’m worried about what’s coming. A terror capable of destroying the Secret Sea... I’m not sure we can handle it."
"Master Iz and the others aren’t here, and I don’t know what else I can rely on."
"This Pure White Descent Ritual is the only trump card I have that might... just might... be able to stand against a Divine Spirit."
"It’s my final trump card."
Lu Cang paused, then added, "If it really becomes necessary, I may have to use this Ritual to protect myself."
Kumironi asked, "Will it... really be that dangerous?"
Lu Cang shook his head. "I can’t be sure. I won’t use it unless I absolutely have to... I just wanted to tell you my theory and what I might have to do beforehand."
As he told Kumironi all this, Lu Cang also took out his Destiny Card Set.
This Destiny Card Set was just like the one Pari had used for her Divination.
The cards were illustrated with the images of different Divine Spirits, each with their own form, symbolizing a unique divination result.
By interpreting these results in the context of the current situation, one could learn what Destiny the Future held.
However.
Divination this month felt completely and utterly unreliable.
"Sister Kumironi, I’m going to try and divine what happens next... I have a very bad feeling about this."
’When I try to divine my own fate, all I see is a vast, murky expanse of deep sea.’
’I can’t see a thing.’
Lu Cang decided to combine it with other Divination techniques to try and get a glimpse.
Kumironi said, "Okay."
He drew three cards in a row.
"White of Death and Destruction—Smiling"
"White of Death and Destruction—Hanged"
"White of Death and Destruction—Approaching"
A white figure with a faint smile. A young woman in white, hanging upside-down in midair. And a pale, illusory face, so close it filled the entire card.
Three Destiny Cards, and all of them were of the White of Death and Destruction.
Even Kumironi, who knew nothing of Divination, was stunned when she saw the three cards Lu Cang had drawn...
"Little Lu Cang..."
"Is your whole Divination set themed around death and destruction?"
A cold sweat broke out on Lu Cang’s skin as he stared at the results of the Divination.
"Sister Kumironi."
Lu Cang gestured with an open hand, and the entire deck fanned out before them.
Kumironi saw the cards hovering in the air. The deck depicted the likenesses of many gods... Lu Cang had just "happened" to draw those three.
Kumironi said, "We still have Sophia’s Divine Authority."
"We’re still in the third trial of Aigemisa’s event. We won’t die..." Kumironi added.
At her reminder, Lu Cang abruptly turned his senses inward.
He found that the effect of the Divine Authority was, indeed, still active.
’If I die, I should just return to the ruins...’
’If I can’t die, then how am I supposed to interpret these three cards?’
Lu Cang looked at the others around them, but they were just as clueless.
Lu Cang thought for a moment. "I’m going to get out of here. Sister Kumironi, are you coming with me?"
Kumironi nodded. Since Lu Cang was here, it was best to stick with him.
As for the others...
Kumironi didn’t know them, and this was hardly the time to make new friends.
WHOOSH!
The two of them transformed into a streak of light and shot off into the distance in an instant.
Lu Cang spotted what looked like an island to the southwest... He had no idea when the destruction of the Secret Sea would begin.
But Aigemisa had to have a reason for dropping them all in the Secret Sea.
Kumironi was amazed at Lu Cang’s current speed.
Lu Cang’s current speed was in no way inferior to Iz’s or Chi Cheng’s.
The way his form flowed, he truly looked like a bolt of light in flight.
He was still incredibly nimble, even while carrying Kumironi.
In just two minutes, they landed on the small island they had spotted.
Lu Cang was holding Kumironi’s hand, and she felt a surprising sense of security... It seemed Lu Cang was no longer the weak boy who needed their protection.
In fact, Kumironi felt as if Lu Cang was the one protecting her.
The moment they landed.
Lu Cang immediately raised a hand. Countless bones and corpses flew out, and a cold glint flashed as he sliced his own wrist.
A stream of Lu Cang’s blood spilled onto the ground.
He expertly drew the complex ritual, as if he had practiced it a thousand times.
"Pure White Descent Ritual"
Kumironi stood with Lu Cang in the very center of the circle. Even though the Ritual wasn’t active yet, she could feel Death gathering, an aura of Destruction building around them.
Seeing the ritual that could summon the Pure White Descent being laid out with her own eyes...
Kumironi’s heart was a storm of complicated emotions.
