Chapter 626 - 385: Level 9 Observer

Chapter 626: Chapter 385: Level 9 Observer

Strange things were everywhere.

Passing shadows, eyes peering from the Fallen Abyss, and the ruins hiding the Original Forbidden Magic.

The Empty Valley had far too many mysteries.

The emotion coming from that eye was full of curiosity, yet it stopped right at the exit, not moving an inch further.

Lu Cang thought for a moment.

BANG!

He vanished from the spot in a flash of light.

A moment later, he arrived in the wilderness outside Dark City, where he lived.

This was also the place where Lu Luwei and the others farmed the Abyss.

Besides Lu Luwei’s group, other Adventurer’s Guilds were also grouped up in the nearby open areas, farming the Abyss.

The Empty Valley was a place for farming the Abyss.

Most people came here to open Abyss Rifts.

Either that, or to buy Abyssal Equipment.

Lu Cang’s Perception scanned the rifts being farmed by the other Adventurer’s Guilds. He discovered that in every single rift, an eyeball was pressed against the exit, looking out.

So it wasn’t unique to Lu Luwei’s group.

’I thought something else had taken an interest in Lu Luwei...’

If that were the case, Lu Cang couldn’t help but wonder if Lu Luwei had some kind of constitution that attracted monsters, always bringing trouble upon herself.

Since it wasn’t targeting them, he probably didn’t need to worry for the time being.

However, it was a bit strange. These Abyss Rifts should open into different locations within the Fallen Abyss.

Why was an eye looking out of every single one?

Lu Cang turned his gaze to another Adventurer’s Guild. Under the supervision of the Kingdom Guards, they had just arrived at their designated hunting ground.

He saw them take out a key, and a rift appeared.

At first, Abyss Creatures fell out continuously, just like before. Then, an eye gradually came into view, wobbling slowly as it descended from the Fallen Abyss.

’It doesn’t appear at the same time as the rift...’

’It’s more like a creature drawn to the light, like a curious moth.’

The moment he deactivated the effect of the Tower of True Sight,

he couldn’t see anything at all—only a pitch-black void.

’So it’s a creature that can hide its own existence.’

"An Su, do you know what’s inside the Fallen Abyss?"

"Something like an eye, for example."

An Su: "Oh? You saw it?"

"That is the Eye of the Fall."

"It lives at the highest point of the Fallen Abyss, which is where ordinary people first enter..."

"The highest point?"

An Su: "Yes. It’s like a tree growing upside down, rooted at the top of the Fallen Abyss. Its branches grow countless eyeballs, which continuously fall downward due to the nature of the Fallen Abyss. It should also be the only Reincarnator at the top layer of the Fallen Abyss capable of influencing the entire dimension."

Lu Cang: "You said... a Reincarnator?"

"That’s right... Did you really think the creatures of the Abyss don’t have professions?"

"It’s just that the vast majority of Abyss Creatures are hybrids, half-’human’ and half-demon."

"A few intelligent Abyss Creatures can change Professions, just like us."

"Moreover, the Abyss Creatures that can change Professions are often stronger than the Reincarnators of our world... Heh, after all, in such a harsh environment, the weak have all been eliminated."

"This Eye of the Abyss is one of them."

"The last time I saw it, it was still a Level 8 Observer, about to reach Level 9..."

"After all this time, I wonder if it has truly reached the Level 9 realm."

"These Half-human, Half-demon creatures are truly blessed. Unlike you humans, who still have to worry about lifespan even after reaching Level 9."

"However, you don’t need to worry too much."

"That thing has always been one to look but not touch. Besides, it can’t leave the Fallen Abyss, so it poses no threat to you."

’Oh...’

’No threat to me, huh.’

’Then I don’t need to bother...’

BANG!

But just as Lu Cang had that thought, he saw the eyeball in one of the Abyss Rifts break free of the Fallen Abyss and drop out.

When it landed on the ground, a long tether was still attached to the back of the eyeball.

It connected back to a location in the Abyss.

When this eyeball emerged, the Adventurer’s Guild didn’t notice it at all.

Only Lu Cang, using the Tower of True Sight, could see its existence.

The eyeball, trailing its long tether, ignored the Adventurers hunting the Abyss Creatures and drifted off into the distance.

"An Su."

"Have you ever seen the Eye of the Abyss come out of the Abyss?"

An Su: "Come out of the Abyss?"

"I’ve never heard of such a thing. It has always stayed within the Fallen Abyss."

But soon, An Su saw what Lu Cang was seeing through their synchronized Perception.

It saw an eyeball with a tether, swimming toward the distance...

An Su was stunned. "This..."

Lu Cang: "What’s going to happen?"

An Su: "I don’t know either. I haven’t seen it in thousands of years. How would I know what it’s trying to do?"

Lu Cang paused.

He slowly closed his eyes.

’Sigh...’

’So much trouble... If I hadn’t scanned the area with the Tower of True Sight, I wouldn’t have had to get involved.’

’But leaving it alone makes me feel uneasy.’

Lu Cang activated his pre-enactment again.

Coincidentally, this was his first pre-enactment of the day. Crafting that piece of clothing had taken up quite a bit of his time.

BZZZT!

He entered the pre-enactment state.

Lu Cang chased right after it and grabbed the eyeball with one hand.

BANG!

As Lu Cang gave chase, the eyeball noticed his presence... A wave of observation that felt like it was penetrating his very soul slammed into him.

HUMMM—

In that instant, Lu Cang felt as if his very soul had been seen through completely.

’This is definitely not just a Level 8 Observer...’

’This is absolutely a Level 9 being!’

Lu Cang felt his "Unsolvable Mystery" waver. Everything he had hidden was being deconstructed, layer by layer.

BANG!

But he was also moving at an extreme speed!

Lu Cang caught up to the eyeball and snatched it in his hand!

"Divine Level Hidden Origin."

It wanted to probe his information, but Lu Cang also wanted to know what on earth this thing was.

WHOOSH—

The instant he made contact,

Lu Cang’s vision was immediately filled with the sight of the distant Fallen Abyss!

At the top of the Fallen Abyss was an inverted, gargantuan black tree made of countless eyeballs!

The tree’s innumerable branches drooped with trillions of eyeballs, which fell into the endless Abyss!

Not just in the Empty Valley.

All throughout the Fallen Abyss, rifts were constantly opening and closing.

Its eyeballs extended toward these rifts, and when the rifts closed, their connection to the main body was severed.

This creature.

It was observing the outside world through this method.

[Eye of the Abyss]

[Profession—Observer (Level 9)]

[Talent: Divine Level·Thousand Eyes]

...

Because this eyeball was a part of the Eye of the Abyss’s body, an extension of itself, Lu Cang obtained information about the Eye of the Abyss the moment he touched it.

A strange thought suddenly occurred to Lu Cang...

SLICE—

Lu Cang chopped down with his hand as if it were a blade!

Instantly severing the tether behind it...

’The eyeball of a Level 9 Observer... I wonder if this thing can be used as an alchemical ingredient?’
