Chapter 633: Chapter 392: Revisiting

’Why would they throw me a lifeline right at this moment...’

’I had already decided to leave and give up on this Original Forbidden Magic.’

’Even though it meant I’d be unable to unlock two wishes for a long time, it was still better than facing an unknown danger.’

’But why, of all times, would I get this information now?’

’It was as if an unseen fate was pushing me to act.’

But if these ruins really weren’t that dangerous, Lu Cang genuinely felt the desire to give it a try.

’Ordinary methods probably won’t be enough to solve the predicament I’m in.’

’What I need to seek are unconventional means.’

’Besides continuing to Upgrade and obtain more Divine Talents, the Original Forbidden Magic fell into that category.’

’Besides, if I could unlock the two wishes...’

’I could use them to wish away the hidden dangers plaguing me.’

"Hm... In that case, I’ll take a look," Lu Cang agreed.

Yuing Li smiled. "If you’re also planning to explore those ruins, I can connect you with some Adventurer’s Guilds that have Decryption Scholars to ensure your safety."

’An Adventurer’s Guild, huh...’

’That makes sense. A Decryption Scholar’s own combat abilities probably aren’t that high.’

’If they’re going to explore a dangerous place, hiring an Adventurer’s Guild is a necessity.’

’However, Decryption Scholars themselves often have close relationships with many Adventurer’s Guilds.’

’That’s because some Dungeons have sections that require decryption.’

’Decryption Scholars are highly sought-after in teams and can take the place of Professions like Observer or Scholar during expeditions.’

"An Adventurer’s Guild won’t be necessary."

"I know an Adventurer’s Guild myself."

Yuing Li stroked his chin, lost in thought. "Alright, then I’ll give you the other information I have on these ruins."

"After you come back from exploring the ruins, would you be willing to write down what you saw? I’d like to keep it for my records."

Lu Cang nodded. "Yes, no problem."

’He agreed easily enough.’

’Besides, if I turned around and decided not to do it, he probably wouldn’t even remember asking.’

However, if there was nothing in particular he needed to hide, Lu Cang was still willing to honor his promise.

Compared to the cold, cloud-piercing White Tower, the Decryption Enthusiasts Association actually felt much more approachable.

At least this person before him, who seemed to be the local "Chairman," would enthusiastically explain all sorts of things.

Lu Cang’s Perception swept across the room.

With a single lift of his hand, scroll after scroll floated to his side.

RUSTLE—

Lu Cang opened the scrolls simultaneously, his Perception scanning over all of them.

He was absorbing all of the knowledge at the same time.

「Time’s Burrow」

「Echo Corridor」

「Mysterious Time Realm」

...

Everyone had a different name for these ruins, and the name changed based on the sights they encountered upon entering.

Upon entering, they faced the first puzzle.

Each person encountered something different, but there was one commonality: after entering, everyone found themselves in a corridor they could never seem to escape.

Some found the exit by using the clocks on the corridor walls.

The exit would appear on a specific section of the wall at a specific point in time.

By walking toward the correct wall at the right moment, they could leave.

But others simply waited in place for a specific period of time, then started walking and were also able to leave.

Different people had different approaches.

Without exception, all of these approaches pointed to Time.

The puzzles were all different.

However, after reading about their experiences in the ruins, Lu Cang felt it wouldn’t be too difficult.

’If it’s only this difficult, I can solve it easily, too.’

While leaving the first corridor, they would hear a call from far, far away, and seemingly see a blurry figure with their own eyes.

Only a small portion of the records mentioned leaving the corridor.

And upon reaching the second area, everyone’s experience was once again completely different.

In total, only three people had reached the second area.

One of them was the Divination Master whose record he had just seen.

Lu Cang tried to find a pattern in the second area from these three accounts, wondering if it was a test of one’s spirit, a test of combat power, or purely a test of puzzle-solving.

’But since this is related to the Original Forbidden Magic, it’s most likely something related to Magic.’

Lu Cang deduced in his mind.

One of the three was in a desert, one on an ice plain, and one in a bustling town.

Only the person on the ice plain entered the third area.

The other two never even found where the puzzle was.

And the only person to enter the third area was Yuing Li’s friend, the Divination Master.

’So the one who ultimately found the answer and entered the third area... wasn’t a Decryption Scholar, but a Divination Master.’

’And yet, she was the one who left the least amount of information in her record, writing more about the local scenery and her feelings, like a travelogue.’

’Heh... Divination Masters. So damn sly.’

’However, if a Divination Master has an advantage here, then as a Prophet, I should have plenty of advantages as well.’

The third area was an infinitely repeating loop of Time... The Divination Master stayed there for a while and then left the ruins.

She didn’t write down the reason why.

...

’In the end, it’s all still a mystery.’

’But at least I know from these records that it’s a place you can come and go from as you please.’

’So many people have gone there already.’

’It’s not likely to change just because one more person—me—shows up.’

’Plus, these ruins seem to have existed for decades... so it’s unlikely to be a trap designed specifically for me.’

TAP TAP TAP—

Yuing Li’s footsteps approached as he came over, cradling a large armful of books and scrolls.

"Yuing Li, why don’t you use a Storage Bag?"

Yuing Li said, "Don’t you think seeing so much information gathered together looks magnificent?"

Lu Cang replied, "Hm... I suppose so."

A few malicious thoughts flashed through his mind, but they were quickly followed by conflicting ones.

He suppressed the idea of killing the other man and hoarding all the secrets he controlled.

Lu Cang accepted the information that Yuing Li had so enthusiastically provided.

...

’So, only two people have actually reached the third area.’

’It seems you need an incredibly rich knowledge of Chronology.’

’You need to be an expert on History, and you also need to be an expert on the Future.’

’An expert on the Future...’

’That’s usually a Divination Master’s line of work, isn’t it?’

’No wonder that Divination Master could enter the third area; they definitely have an advantage over a regular Decryption Scholar.’

’As for tests of Magic, I haven’t seen much mention of them at all.’

Learning all this did, at least, sweep away the terror of the unknown.

"Yuing Li."

"When I get back, we’ll continue our research on the topic of turning Demons into people."

Yuing Li said, "Excellent! If you want to research that with me, you’re welcome anytime!"

Yuing Li’s enthusiastic tone made Lu Cang feel unexpectedly touched.

’Ever since leaving the Secret Sea, I’ve been constantly on guard, always wary of someone trying to harm me.’

’Sigh... I really do miss those carefree days.’

He sighed to himself.

Lu Cang’s form vanished. A few moments later, he had already arrived outside the city.

Just over ten minutes later, he had returned to the entrance of the ruins.

This time, upon arriving at the ruins, he did not see the Ghost Soul-like figure.
