Chapter 639: Chapter 398: Element

The Seventh Forbidden Magic—Element.

’I never imagined I would obtain a Forbidden Magic in this way.’

’I had assumed the first Forbidden Magic I’d acquire would be "Time," which already existed in these ruins.’

...

The first time I encountered the Seventh Forbidden Magic must have been in the Forgotten Realm.

A Mage with silver hair in twin tails used this Magic back then.

’If I’d mastered the "Lighthouse of All Laws" back then, I probably could have learned it then and there.’

And that Mage, it seemed she used her own Root Magic to activate "Element."

And after casting the Magic, she self-destructed along with it.

In other words...

Even an ordinary Root Mage isn’t powerful enough to cast this Magic normally.

[Seventh Forbidden Magic: Element—Startup: Elemental Initiation]

[Activation Requirements: Understanding of an Elemental Root Source, and at least one Level 100 Skill Level Magic for every type of Element.]

[Activation Cost: Lose at least 50% of your Perception of the Elements.]

[Activation Effect: Release a wave of initiation that deconstructs all existing matter into Basic Elements.]

Elemental Initiation.

This was the move I saw back in the Forgotten Realm.

It turns everything into the most Basic Elements.

The Power of this move alone surpasses that of the vast majority of other Magic...

But the Startup is just the beginning.

[Seventh Forbidden Magic: Element—Decomposition: Elemental Wanhua]

[Activation Requirements: Understanding of an Elemental Root Source, be in the Startup state, have over 10 billion Magic Power, and have mastered over 10,000 spells for each Element.]

[Activation Cost: Lose all Elemental Magic you have mastered.]

[Activation Effect: Form a complete elemental domain within a certain Range. Within this domain, all Tier One to Tier Nine Elemental Magic in existence will be continuously and simultaneously manifested.]

’It’s like a Combat Skill...’

’It even has a Second Form.’

Level 6 Mages begin learning Compound Magic, while Level 7 Mages learn Multi-stage Magic.

One spell is a prelude to the next.

The textbooks once said...

Multi-stage Magic came into being because single spells were still too complex, so a complete spell was deconstructed into multiple different steps to be cast.

This also helps avoid excessive Mana consumption.

For example, if you only want to cast the first form, there’s no need to unleash all three stages of a complete spell.

’Decomposition·Elemental Wanhua repeatedly manifests all Elemental Magic in existence...’

’All of it?’

Lu Cang found it hard to imagine just how many kinds of Elemental Magic existed in this world.

Elemental Magic was the most common and frequently used type of Magic for a Mage. Even he was extremely proficient in all sorts of Elements.

It was things like Arcane Magic, Mind, soul, Death, or Summoning Magic that were considered the more niche categories.

[Seventh Forbidden Magic: Element—Final Form: Elemental Collapse]

[Activation Requirements: Level 10 Mage Level, be in the Decomposition state.]

[Activation Cost: Permanent loss of the world’s Elements.]

[Activation Effect: Infinitely expand the complete elemental domain, causing all Elements in the world to collapse and be destroyed.]

’Now I finally understand... why they’re called Forbidden Magic.’

’This isn’t Magic that any normal person should ever use.’

Just casting it would be a major catastrophe for the world.

It might even be far more terrifying than the destruction of a Secret Sea.

And the activation costs are far too high.

To activate Decomposition, you have to lose all the Elemental Magic you’ve mastered. And a hard requirement for activation is mastering over ten thousand spells for *each* type of Element.

That’s not ten thousand in total, but ten thousand for each Element.

And then, to activate this Decomposition, you lose all of them.

’In this entire world, just how many Mages could possibly activate this Forbidden Magic?’

’No wonder that Mage self-destructed back then.’

If there was a third person in this world besides himself and Iz who could cast this Magic, Lu Cang would think something was wrong with it.

Fortunately...

His "Divine Level·Lighthouse of All Laws" allowed him to cast an Original Forbidden Magic without paying any of the costs.

But that only meant he didn’t have to pay the costs.

The required Magic Power would still be consumed.

The necessary requirements must still be met.

At least, with his current abilities, he couldn’t cast the Final Form... he could manage Decomposition at most.

"Then again, that’s more than enough."

Lu Cang sensed a three-dimensional Rune swirling within his body.

It was a Rune that had condensed inside him after he learned the "Seventh Forbidden Magic"—a Rune whose shape, upon a single glance, made it clear that it represented "Element."

In truth, learning it didn’t just allow him to cast incredibly powerful Magic.

More importantly, he could gain a great deal of insight into the Elements from this Rune.

Even without activating "Startup" or "Decomposition," Lu Cang could feel that the Power of all his Elemental Magic had increased dramatically.

His gaze swept over the empty darkness beside him.

Lu Cang gestured casually.

[Tier One Thunder Magic: Thunder Strike Skill (Level 100)]

BOOM!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Dozens of lightning bolts, each as thick as a chimney, came crashing down—

Their Power was several times greater than the Thunder Strike Skill he had cast before, and the number of bolts had increased as well...

It wasn’t just an active buff upon casting.

It also passively amplified all of his Elemental Magic, and it even gave him flashes of inspiration about the Elements, allowing him to create and comprehend even more Elemental spells.

Even if he never used the Forbidden Magic itself after learning it, the benefits were immense.

’A single Original Forbidden Magic is this useful...’

’I wonder how much stronger I’d be if I got a second one.’

Especially since the Original Forbidden Magic here was related to "Time."

Anything related to the Time Element was universally acknowledged as being ridiculously powerful.

His second wish hadn’t been fulfilled yet. That wish was to use his "Deepest Truth" Talent to solve the mystery of these ruins.

But...

So far, he hadn’t encountered a situation that triggered this Talent.

He extended his Perception to survey his surroundings once more.

Having just survived the ordeal, he hadn’t had a chance to properly observe this space.

It was pitch-black and empty, containing only himself and the heavily injured An Su, who was currently recovering.

In that last battle, Lu Cang had indeed given An Su almost all of his souls, but in just a few short seconds, An Su had burned through every last one of them.

He even went berserk and pushed himself too far, damaging some of his own foundation in the process.

The only silver lining was that the damage was only to his foundation in this life; it wouldn’t affect his Reincarnation in the slightest.

Lu Cang reached out, his hand touching the darkness beside him, and asked, "An Su..."

"What do you think this place is?"

Hearing Lu Cang’s question, An Su replied grumpily, "’Take a look, take a look.’ All day long, you’re telling this old man to take a look."

"I just fought to the death for you, and as the wounded party, I haven’t even had a chance to properly recover before you start ordering me around again."

Lu Cang replied indifferently, "We were two grasshoppers on the same string back then. If I had died, you wouldn’t have fared much better."

"But... I suppose I did trouble you."

Lu Cang felt it inwardly—he still had complete control over An Su.

He released several thousand more souls.

The souls drifted into An Su’s Spirit Body.

"Consider these souls my compensation to you... An Su, if I reach the peak of Level 9 in the future, perhaps we could become true friends then. It wouldn’t be out of the question."

’For now, An Su is still too much of a threat to me.’

’It’s impossible to be friends with him. It’s good enough that I can maintain this relationship where I’m just using him.’
