Chapter 677 - 433: Ring of Time Jumping
Chapter 677: Chapter 433: Ring of Time Jumping
Once the first spell was created, developing the second became much simpler.
’Master Iz, you never fail to surprise me.’
’Using Magic to solve the baffling puzzle of Time.’
April 1st.
While out on an adventure, Kumironi and Chi Cheng encountered a randomly appearing Teleportation Gate.
But Kumironi didn’t go in.
April 1st passed without incident. She didn’t go to the Secret Sea...
SWOOSH—
In the days that followed.
Lu Cang once again arrived at the Secret Sea—the Moon Sea...
The Core could be left on other people.
That meant he could leave it with Lu Luwei or Leng Qingying, or even in the Secret Sea...
Lu Cang could also leverage this detached Core to travel far and wide, piggybacking on others.
...
Although pinpoint teleportation via Space Magic didn’t exist in the world—at least, not yet...
But Lu Cang could already use a seamless combination of various Root Magics to travel between Boundaryless Mountain and the major seas.
Unfortunately, this Magic couldn’t bring anyone else along.
Iz was fascinated by the application of this Magic and was eager to study it.
However, what interested Iz even more right now was this Original Forbidden Magic.
The Secret Sea’s fate was still destruction.
It was a destruction he had already witnessed, an end where the Original Sea would glow and an Angel would descend. Based on what little more he had learned, this outcome signified a victory for the Light Church—Zuya would have completed the Purity of Light Ritual.
This brought Zuya one step closer to her full descent.
Gods couldn’t walk the mortal world because They hadn’t yet completed Their required, predetermined Rituals.
Correspondingly, all Their actions in the world were essentially aimed at completing the very Rituals that would allow Them to break free.
Once he understood this,
Lu Cang began to understand the true reason the gods were fighting over the Secret Sea.
...
The entire month of April was spent immersed in research.
Unfortunately, April was not a good month.
It was a month corresponding to chaos and madness, a time when the pursuit of knowledge was Cursed. Even Izparut encountered multiple Curses during this month.
But it was a good thing he was Izparut.
And a good thing he had Kumironi.
These Curses, born from knowledge, were all easily dispelled.
In his spare time while researching Time Magic, Lu Cang also traveled across the Moon Sea to borrow the book *Black Secret* from Miselux.
He sought Kumironi’s help, hoping she might have some unique insights.
Time flew by...
With Lu Cang’s assistance, Iz’s research progressed at an astonishing pace. After all, Lu Cang could retrieve Iz’s findings from a projected Future.
Then, he would deliver those future findings back into the hands of the present-day Iz.
This saved Iz a tremendous amount of effort.
...
May.
The month of purity was not truly pure.
By May, a terrifying aura permeated all of Boundaryless Mountain. Lu Cang’s extremely high Spirituality, combined with a Perception that allowed his eyes to see reality itself, let him clearly witness the entire sky fissuring.
This month seemed tranquil on the surface.
In reality, the undercurrents surging in the shadows were far more terrifying than in other months.
The gods were active.
They were contesting for the Moon this month.
It was just that at his current level, Lu Cang couldn’t perceive the details of their struggle. He had no idea how the contest for the Moon was being waged.
「May 17th」
Lu Cang stepped into a vast, star-filled space where Iz stood atop a giant, planet-like sphere.
He was gazing up at an endless array of symbols.
These were all Arcane Symbols.
According to Iz, the principles of all Magic could, in fact, be interpreted through the lens of Arcane Magic.
Although Arcane Magic couldn’t necessarily manifest every type of Magic in the physical world.
But Arcane Magic was undoubtedly the best tool for magical deduction.
’If you want to gain a deep understanding of Magic, then studying Arcane Magic is essential.’
Iz had said this to Lu Cang in an earnest tone.
But Lu Cang felt helpless...
’Master Iz.’
’It’s not that I don’t want to learn. It’s just that some Arcane Magic is so complex I can’t master it in a short time.’
’I’m a Level 6 Decryption Scholar with extremely high Spirituality and decent Magic Comprehension. My understanding of Arcane Magic might not be the best in the world, but I’d say it’s top-tier.’
’There’s probably not even a Level 7 Mage in the world qualified to discuss Arcane Magic with me, right?’
’Level 8 Mages are few and far between. In this era, aside from An Zheng, I’ve never even heard of another living Level 8 Mage.’
’Even if there are others, they’re probably Aertemi’s subordinates, wearing the skins of Mages from millennia ago.’
’And yet, with all my magical attainments, I still get a lecture from Master Iz... still get told to study Arcane Magic more seriously.’
’Sigh.’
Iz gazed at the multitude of symbols in the sky. This was a Space he had constructed himself.
Over the past month, Iz himself had made numerous breakthroughs in the Magic he had learned.
Iz didn’t possess the Lighthouse of All Laws, so he couldn’t steal Magic from others.
Yet Lu Cang could still see hundreds of new, different spells manifesting on Iz every single day, seemingly out of thin air. A good number of them were even Time Magic.
Every day of study seemed to bring Iz a new epiphany.
And possessing the Lighthouse of All Laws Talent allowed Lu Cang to directly perceive the speed of Iz’s progress.
"Lu Cang, you’re resetting tomorrow, aren’t you?"
Lu Cang nodded.
"Hmm... I haven’t reached a definitive conclusion about your situation yet."
"However, I can confirm at least a few things."
"Time in your original timeline should be passing normally... However much time you spend here, the same amount passes there."
"So, I recommend you don’t stay in this repeating timeline for too long."
"But the end point of this reset cycle is at the very end of your own personal timeline."
"As for a spell that could help you, it will still take some time to complete the proofs."
"When you reset into the next timeline, just pass these answers on to the ’me’ of that time..."
Iz looked up at the Arcane Symbols filling the sky.
These were the hints he was leaving for himself.
"Master Iz, I’ll remember."
"After I leave, will the ’me’ who originally belongs to this timeline return?"
Iz said, "Yes, he’ll come back."
"And he’ll probably have... a rather unique experience."
「May 18th.」
Just as scheduled, Lu Cang reset, returning to March 23rd.
’The end of this time reset cycle is the end of my own personal timeline, huh...’
’Meaning, before I was even born.’
’Getting Master Iz’s help really did lead me to the key to ending these resets.’
’But...’
’Going through this Reincarnation cycle over and over again just to get back to the day I was born... it’s just too long.’
’I’d even have to live through my time on Earth again.’
’That mediocre time when I couldn’t become a Reincarnator?’
Lu Cang shook his head slightly...
He vanished from his bed and sought out Izparut once more.
...
Time replayed itself once more.
When Iz saw the Arcane Symbols Lu Cang presented, he immediately understood what was happening. He even began his deductions right where his previous self’s symbols had left off.
At the same time, Lu Cang saw that upon seeing the symbols he had replicated, the Magic on Iz’s body erupted like a geyser!
In the span of just a few breaths, he had perfectly re-comprehended every single spell his previous self had grasped in the last timeline.
’His comprehension is truly off the charts.’
Killing An Zheng.
Going to Boundaryless Mountain.
He had this two-step process down to a familiar routine.
Thanks to Iz, Lu Cang had learned many Time Magic spells he hadn’t known before and finally understood how to construct entirely new ones.
Although a long time had passed, Lu Cang gradually felt as if Time itself had been stretched, flowing past like a stream.
Often, while he was lost in thought or research, an entire day would just slip away.
Soon, it was May 17th of another loop.
"Lu Cang."
"This spell should be of use to you."
Standing in the star-filled space, Iz manifested a spell before Lu Cang—a series of rings, one nested within the other, all linked by the fabric of Time.
"Time Root Magic: Ring of Time Jumping."
"This Root Magic should only be useful to you."
"Using this Root Magic, you won’t have to experience the same timeline over and over. You’ll be able to return directly to the more distant past..."
"This spell is useless to me. Just take it directly."
Iz already knew that Lu Cang possessed the Lighthouse of All Laws and could take spells from others.
He also knew Lu Cang could learn Root Magic.
"Master Iz, I’ve really troubled you..."
Iz chuckled. "What are you talking about? I should be thanking you. You brought me such a fascinating puzzle, and thanks to you, I was finally able to glimpse the true temporal essence of Magic."
"If anything, you’ve helped me far more."
Iz clapped Lu Cang on the shoulder.
"I also believe that you won’t become that kind of person."
"Even in the Future, I’ll believe in you... And if you really do become a Demon who can’t be woken up, then I’ll be the one to beat some sense back into you."
"But you won’t let that happen, right?"
Lu Cang nodded solemnly. "Yes, Master Iz."
"I will never betray my own heart, or my principles."
A relaxed smile spread across Iz’s face. "That’s good. Perhaps we’ll meet again someday."
To Iz, the Lu Cang of today was not the Lu Cang of yesteryear.
And to Lu Cang, the Izparut of today was not the Izparut from his own timeline.
The person who appeared in the reset timeline was but another, similar flower blooming.
...
「May 18th.」
Lu Cang activated the Ring of Time Jumping.
He felt spacetime ripple around him, his eyes now able to see the great, roiling river of Time. Lu Cang could feel his personal timeline about to reset.
But this time, he could choose which point in time to travel to.
He no longer needed to advance day by day.
’Then...’
’I’ll go as far back as I can.’
’In any case, after the reset, I’ll still eventually return to May 18th, meaning I’ll experience everything during that period regardless.’
’There’s no need to deliberately return to a specific day.’
’The earlier the better.’
’Then... September 13th, 5025 A.D.’
’That’s the day I met Meiser.’
’And the next day, Raine Town was hit by a Demon tide, and I became a Death Priest.’
’That day was the starting point for so many of my questions.’
’Pari, Meiser, and the Insect Nest invasion.’
’There were too many unknowns.’
’And the one I’m most concerned about is that mysterious Divination Master...’
’Pari... are we finally going to meet again?’
