Chapter 681: Chapter 437: Second Encounter with Meiser
"You were looking for me?"
Lu Cang’s tone was nonchalant and blunt.
Meiser faltered for a moment.
He stepped out from the shadows and stood before Lu Cang.
"I heard you’re only a Level 2 Mage, yet you were able to sense my presence..."
"How interesting."
"Cut to the chase," Lu Cang said. "Why did you seek me out?"
Meiser tapped his fingers together. He and a Soul Body clone emerged from two different directions.
The first time he’d met Meiser, Lu Cang had found his Magic strange and unusual.
Now, looking at Meiser,
there was no sense of mystery at all.
"I was just thinking of teaching you a few spells."
Lu Cang remained completely unfazed. "Show me," he said flatly.
Meiser paused.
He stared at Lu Cang, his hawk-like eyes boring into Lu Cang’s own.
But in the boy’s eyes, he saw not the slightest flicker of emotion—no fear, no confusion.
"Fine."
Meiser took three strips of paper from his Storage Bag.
Lu Cang glanced at the three strips of paper before looking up. "Okay, I’ve memorized them."
"You want me to learn these spells..."
"What for?"
"You’ve learned them already?"
Lu Cang raised a hand, and a flicker of red electricity sparked at his fingertip.
At the same time, pinpricks of Soul Light began to spread around him.
These were the Small Spells Meiser had given him.
"You really are... a genius."
"Oh, right, there’s also a Secret Scroll."
Lu Cang interrupted him.
"Meiser, I know who you are. Did you come looking for me just for these trivial matters?"
Lu Cang asked bluntly.
Meiser’s expression suddenly turned grave, and blood-red Runes began to materialize around him.
’Soul Arcane Magic...’
’A truly rare type of Magic.’
’I’d heard Meiser was a genius when it came to the soul.’
"You’ve been contaminated, but you still possess a conscious will..."
"Even though you’re contaminated, your subconscious soul is seeking escape."
"Isn’t that right?"
Meiser’s body suddenly began to shake. Both he and his clone, positioned in front of and behind Lu Cang, trembled uncontrollably.
"Ha..."
A dry chuckle escaped him. "Haha."
"You... you’re different. You’re not what I imagined at all."
THWUMP!
The earth split apart as blood-red chains erupted from the ground. Dozens of them soared into the air, writhing like great serpents.
"You’re not a child, are you."
"What are your origins?" Meiser’s voice grew cold.
Lu Cang glanced at the chains surrounding him.
’Blood Blade Thousand Chains (Tier Five) (Level 15).’
’So that’s the Magic.’
"Why are you angry?"
"Did I hit a nerve? Does your subconscious soul want to fight back?"
’Looks like my words drove him into a frenzy.’
’He’s extremely volatile.’
Lu Cang’s eyes narrowed slightly.
’Thought Invasion.’
WHAM!
Lu Cang’s consciousness shot into Meiser’s Sea of Consciousness like a bullet.
’What a resilient soul.’
Lu Cang sensed that Meiser’s Sea of Consciousness was protected. His mental defenses were far stronger than most people’s.
’But unfortunately for Meiser, he was up against me.’
BOOM!
Lu Cang’s consciousness pierced through into the Sea of Consciousness.
Meanwhile, in Raine Town, the chains shot toward Lu Cang in a concentrated volley. Dozens of blood-red chains slammed down like dragons made of blood!
CRASH!
But Lu Cang didn’t even move.
In just a few flashes of light, the blood-red chains shattered into tiny fragments.
"You’re struggling."
The Sea of Consciousness was pitch-black, but within the darkness, a small sanctuary remained.
’The last message Meiser left was a cry for help.’
’He wanted me to follow his guidance, find his soul after he died, and use that to eradicate the contamination.’
’Previously, since I was far from any contamination, I didn’t think it was a big deal.’
’All I had to do was avoid it.’
’Nothing to worry about.’
’But after experiencing contamination a few times myself, I gradually realized how truly troublesome it was.’
’Even true gods or Level 9 Reincarnators would find it difficult to remove the contamination.’
’But Meiser was just a Level 6 Mage.’
’Yet he’d found a way to eradicate it.’
’Incredible... ’
’I really need to have a proper chat with him.’
’Even if his method required an enormous price.’
KABOOM—
Lu Cang waved his hand casually.
In the outside world, all the rising chains instantly shattered.
The cracked earth was instantly filled with new earth Element, restoring the ground completely.
Meiser gasped for breath.
"You..."
"Who in the world are you?"
"Soul and body, divided and disharmonious. A chasm exists between them, through which spirit and flesh may be sundered."
HUMMM—
Lu Cang suddenly felt a jolt to his soul.
’Soul Burst (Tier Six).’
THUD!
The impact slammed into Lu Cang’s mind.
Lu Cang’s Sea of Consciousness only trembled slightly.
’Even though I haven’t converted my Sea of Consciousness into the Cloud Palace Sea of Consciousness yet—I’m still worried Luoti might have left some trick behind—I’ve done plenty of my own research on mental defenses.’
’My defenses aren’t something a Level 6 Soul Mage can break.’
’Can’t he do it without Chanting?’
’Guess he’s not as much of a genius as they say.’
At the same time, Lu Cang explored within Meiser’s Sea of Consciousness...
He gradually realized that hidden beneath the deep waters of the Sea of Consciousness was a consciousness wrapped in a cocoon.
’Found it...’
’But I can’t seem to break it. If I do, that consciousness will be contaminated.’
SWOOSH—
In the next instant, Lu Cang withdrew his consciousness.
Meiser, however, was still trying to attack him.
Several white Arcane Missiles shot towards Lu Cang.
CLANG!
With a casual flick of his finger, Lu Cang shattered the Internal Explosion Arcane Missiles, which were packed with even smaller projectiles.
A sky full of missiles rained down on Lu Cang like a chaotic volley of arrows.
BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM—
Lu Cang was completely unharmed.
Meiser looked at Lu Cang as if he were looking at a monster.
Lu Cang sighed softly. "Meiser."
"Back then, I was scared to death of you..."
After a sigh,
Lu Cang extended one hand.
Rings of a Seal rose around Meiser’s body, gradually encasing him in a black box. In an instant, Meiser was imprisoned within the Seal.
"This way, I won’t need to come looking for you later."
"Just stay here for now."
「The next day...」
Pari had disappeared, as if she had foreseen this would happen.
The Demon tide, however, arrived right on schedule.
Lu Cang spread his Perception and could see numerous rifts tearing open across the entire southern region of Lorren.
The Insect Nest had truly arrived.
Among them were even some Special Demons that possessed a degree of intelligence.
Iz and his group had left the Dungeon and were rushing back... They were moving extremely fast, and along the way, they had even managed to save hundreds of cities and towns of all sizes from the Demon invasion.
They were practically saviors.
’When I heard Iz and the others talk about it, I thought they had just casually saved two or three towns along the way...’
