Chapter 802: Chapter 802: Unlucky Twin Sister (31)

"I’ve caused everyone a lot of trouble. I’m very sorry. From now on I’ll keep a close eye on Qian Lann and won’t let her cause trouble again."

Ye Qingyuan pulled the deathly pale Pei QianLann up from the ground. She clearly wanted to push him away, but faced with that cold expression, she felt a bit scared and ended up obediently letting him pull her to her feet.

Ye Qingyuan used his sleeve to wipe the tears off Pei QianLann’s face, his voice light: "Don’t go out making trouble anymore. It causes problems for everyone. Do you understand?"

He didn’t yell at her, didn’t blame her, yet Pei QianLann broke out in goosebumps all over, like she’d fallen into an ice cellar, chilled to the bone, unbearably uncomfortable. She wanted to leave, not have to face Ye Qingyuan, but her feet felt rooted to the spot.

Carefully thinking it over, with things blown up this much, where could she even go?

"I’ve spoiled you too much in the past, let you sit around daydreaming. Starting tomorrow you’ll work with me. A family is the business of two people; you need to contribute too, then you’ll understand how hard it is to keep a household going."

Ye Qingyuan glanced at the crowd, his gaze landing on Qi Xiaoyu’s face.

Qi Xiaoyu was in her family’s arms, lips bloodless. After finding out what almost happened today, she was consumed by lingering fear.

If Pei Qianyan hadn’t come to see Pei QianLann, her reputation would have been destroyed just like that.

When she pictured that scene, she had no idea how she’d ever face anyone.

And she’d even treated Pei QianLann as a good friend, happily accepting her invitation to come over for dinner—she’d been overjoyed.

She never imagined the other girl only wanted to set her up, and the ridiculous part was that the scheme was just to shake off Ye Qingyuan.

Back then Pei QianLann had insisted on marrying Ye Qingyuan, and now she was in such a hurry to get rid of him—Qi Xiaoyu honestly didn’t know what to say.

She would never meet Pei QianLann again. This person was too dangerous; she was afraid a few words with her would ruin her name.

She hadn’t expected that the one who inadvertently helped her this time would again be Pei Qianyan. Were these two really sisters?

She hadn’t interacted much with Pei Qianyan; when they did it was mostly at school. Pei Qianyan’s grades were excellent. Because Qi Xiaoyu and Pei QianLann were close, they sat near each other, and Qi Xiaoyu would occasionally ask Pei Qianyan about problems in the textbook she didn’t understand.

As for Pei QianLann, they would often arrange to go play in town. The more they hung out, the closer their relationship naturally became.

"Qian Lann, go apologize to Qi Xiaoyu."

As Ye Qingyuan spoke, his palm landed on Pei QianLann’s back, pushing her toward Qi Xiaoyu.

Qi Xiaoyu instinctively shrank back behind her family, not wanting to have anything to do with them ever again.

"Qian Lann, apologize." Ye Qingyuan’s voice carried authority without anger, a far cry from the man who used to coax her in everything and speak so gently.

No one doubted Ye Qingyuan anymore; after something this big, even a sick cat would bare its claws.

"I...I’m sorry."

Under the pressure of so many eyes, Pei QianLann could only grit her teeth and apologize. Inwardly she memorized today’s humiliation; once she made something of herself in the future, she would make all these people pay.

"Take out the money I had you keep before," Ye Qingyuan said.

Pei QianLann didn’t want to, but she still did as he said.

With so many people watching, if they weren’t satisfied today, this matter definitely wouldn’t be over.

Right now what she wanted most was for these people to hurry up and leave—every last one of them, out of her sight.

She bit her lip. This was all Qiann Yan’s fault, insisting on going against her. If it weren’t for her, would she be in this state?
