Chapter 809: Chapter 809: Unlucky Twin Sister (38)
Being able to run a factory at this time, and doing it this well—she had no idea who it was—but these clothing styles were really good. Even judged by later generations’ tastes, they’d still look great.
Pei QianLann’s mind started turning. If she could find that person and talk about cooperating, maybe she could turn her life around.
Besides, she had a lot of clothing designs from later generations in her head. Maybe she could draw them out and go talk with the factory owner?
Pei QianLann wanted to buy some notebooks and pens, only to find she basically didn’t have any money.
In the end she thought of Pei Peng and decided to go back to her parents’ house. Pei Peng had so many notebooks and pens, it’d be fine if she went over and took a couple to use.
She was going to make big money.
...
Qiann Yan was at the village chief’s house, planning the future path of the company, when Pei Peng came running to her with red eyes, looking like he was on the verge of tears. His clothes were splattered with mud, like he’d taken a fall.
"What’s wrong?"
Pei Peng forced himself not to cry. "Second Sis, Big Sis grabbed my notebooks and pens. You’re the one who bought them for me."
"I didn’t agree, and she even shoved me. I don’t want her to go make money and buy me a lot later, I just want the ones Second Sis bought."
Qiann Yan’s hand paused. She really hadn’t expected this—what was Pei QianLann snatching Pei Peng’s notebooks for?
She put her own notebook aside and stood up. "Let’s go find her."
Pei Peng said aggrievedly, "Dad and Mom didn’t stop her at all. They even said I have so many notebooks, giving her two doesn’t matter. But clearly those were from Second Sis, and she didn’t even ask me. Why should she get them?"
Qiann Yan took Pei Peng’s small hand and led him toward Pei QianLann’s house.
When Pei QianLann saw the two of them, she was still a bit weak-hearted. "I’m just borrowing them to use. I’ll pay him back once I start making money. He has so many notebooks, he’s not missing those two. Besides, we’re siblings—taking a few things isn’t a big deal."
Qiann Yan couldn’t be bothered to waste words on Pei QianLann. She stepped up and gave her a beating. She’d been wanting to hit Pei QianLann for a long time but never had the chance; now she finally did.
Pei QianLann was no match for Qiann Yan. She was beaten until she curled up in a corner with her arms over her head, wailing in pain. At first she cursed, later she begged for mercy.
Qiann Yan didn’t hit the face, only went for her body, and didn’t leave many marks—but it hurt like hell.
Ye Qingyuan had just reached the doorway when he heard Pei QianLann’s screams. His steps paused, then he walked into the house, not the least bit anxious.
He was a little puzzled when he saw Pei Peng there, and froze for a moment when he caught sight of Qiann Yan beating up Pei QianLann.
Pei Peng explained, "She snatched the notebooks Second Sis bought me, grabbed a bunch, and even took the pretty colored pens."
Ye Qingyuan understood and didn’t step in to stop it.
She’d behaved for a while and now she was acting up again—serves her right to get beaten. Thinking of his memory from the second lifetime, Pei QianLann only got one beating from Qiann Yan back then; that was getting off easy.
He fell into thought. What was Pei QianLann doing, taking Pengpeng’s notebooks and pens?
What was she planning?
He definitely didn’t think Pei QianLann was grabbing them just for fun.
Once it seemed enough, Qiann Yan took Pei Peng and left.
Ye Qingyuan hadn’t said a word the whole time. When Pei QianLann finally crawled up from the floor, she yelled at him, "Your own wife is getting beaten and you don’t even help?"
"You’re this old and you still go snatch things from a kid—how’s that not asking for it?" Ye Qingyuan sneered. "If you’d behave and live a proper life, would you be getting hit? Pengpeng is so little and you still bully him—and you call yourself his big sister."
Pei QianLann, hair all messed up, shouted, "What do you know? What kind of man are you, Ye Qingyuan? I really regret it, I really shouldn’t have chosen to marry you."
Ye Qingyuan thought to himself that having someone like her set her sights on him meant he must have had eight generations of bad luck. It’s not like everyone was dying to have her.
Ye Qingyuan turned around and went back to work in the fields. Pei QianLann cried from anger. How had she ended up fancying such a short-sighted man?
He wasn’t even as good as Zhu Menghui.
