Chapter 866: Chapter 866: Scumbag Brother and Scumbag Father, Get Out of My Sight (12)

Qiann Yan walked out of the house and was greeted by the sight of Mrs. Zhang weeping bitterly.

"Mother, I can’t lose my fingers." Meng Wengan looked at Qiann Yan. "Once we get through this hardship, I’ll study hard, and when I make something of myself in the future, I’ll bring my sister out to enjoy a good life."

"Yan’er doesn’t care for that kind of ’good life’." Mrs. Zhang screamed hoarsely. "Get out! Get out now!!"

"Mother, now that Father’s got some strange illness and can’t move, I’m the only man in this family, so this household is up to me." Meng Wengan straightened his back, pointed at where Qiann Yan stood, and said to the brothel Mother beside him, "Red Mother, this is my sister. See if she’s worth anything?"

He looked as if he were pointing at a piece of merchandise.

Red Mother had planned to step forward to take a closer look, but to her surprise Qiann Yan moved fast, charging over and landing a punch squarely on Meng Wengan’s face.

She didn’t hold back; that punch made stars explode in Meng Wengan’s eyes on the spot.

She didn’t stop, either—she pinned him to the ground and pounded him hard, paying no mind at all to Meng Wengan’s screams.

"Meng Wengan, you dare sell me? You think you’re worthy of that?"

Qiann Yan sat on top of Meng Wengan, slapping his face over and over. The sharp crack of each slap left everyone around them stunned where they stood.

Even Mrs. Zhang, who had been crying in despair, froze in a daze. It could be done like this?

A woman hitting a man—this was something she had never dared to imagine.

Though the law never said women couldn’t hit men, all women had tacitly accepted that men were not to be resisted.

So whenever she was beaten by Meng Chongxi, all she knew to do was curl up, hug her head, and never even think of fighting back.

"You don’t study, you gamble like a fool, run up debts sky-high, and now you want to sell your sister to pay them off? In your dreams."

Meng Wengan was just a frail scholar; in no time at all he was beaten so badly he couldn’t even lift a hand to defend himself.

Red Mother lifted a brow. She’d thought today would be the same old scene again—some girl in the family bawling her eyes out, yet having no choice but to accept being sold.

She hadn’t expected this little girl to play by no rules at all, coming up and thrashing Meng Wengan right off the bat.

Honestly speaking, she even felt a bit refreshed inside; it had been a long time since she’d seen something like this.

"Looks like you might have come here for nothing today, Mother. I’m not for sale." Qiann Yan stood up and planted a foot on Meng Wengan’s face. When he struggled to get up and speak, she stepped down even harder, grinding his face straight into the dirt.

Red Mother asked, "You have the say in this?"

"I do." Qiann Yan looked down from above at the utterly beaten-down Meng Wengan lying there like a dead dog. "Or do you actually think he’s the one in charge?"

Red Mother burst out laughing, holding her belly. "I’d say he’s not."

Useless waste.

"Seems this deal can’t be made today." Red Mother said with a show of regret. A shrew like this—if she wasn’t coming of her own free will, wouldn’t she turn the whole courtyard upside down? Those blows just now weren’t simple; this girl clearly knew how to fight.

Besides, the aura coming off this little girl was anything but ordinary. As someone who lived off the pleasure quarters, her instinct told her to steer clear of this danger.

"Red... Mother..." Meng Wengan struggled to get up. He was the man; with Father unable to run things, he was the one who should be in charge, the one who made the decisions.

Qiann Yan once again stomped her foot down on his face. He never got the chance to say any of that, and could only watch helplessly as Red Mother led her people away.

Red Mother suddenly looked back. "Mr. Meng, if you’re not sure you can pull something off, don’t come wasting my time. Otherwise, I won’t mind having my men ’entertain’ you a bit."

Failing to sell his sister, getting beaten up, and even being warned by Red Mother—Meng Wengan was seething with rage.

He wanted to fight back, but it was all in vain.
