Alpha's Regret: The Seventh Time was Forever

Chapter 450 - 451 - You should have left our daughter where she belonged

Chapter 450: Chapter 451 - You should have left our daughter where she belonged

Madison listened carefully. "You must tell everyone your daughter was born prematurely."

Confusion spread across Madison’s face. "Prematurely? Why?"

Noelle nodded. "According to everyone else, she cannot be older than one year."

Madison blinked several times, clearly lost. "I don’t understand." Her brows pulled together. "But why would her age matter? Her birth records already show the real date."

Noelle’s expression hardened. "Then you’ll have new records made." The warmth disappeared from her voice completely. If anyone found Sera and Daisy to share the same birth date, who knows?

Alpha Humphrey and Luna Kylie would easily discern that Daisy was the Fenrir. Afterall, Seraphine had the mark of the crescent moon on her stomach.

Still, she could not tell this to Madison. "If you want this job, that’s my condition." She held Madison’s gaze without blinking. "Otherwise, I’m afraid I can’t employ you."

Madison’s shoulders slowly fell. She knew exactly what refusing would mean. An omega rarely had the luxury of saying no. A mother with a sick child had even fewer choices.

She lowered her head in defeat. "I’ll have the birth records changed."

A satisfied smile returned to Noelle’s face. "Good." She gave a small nod. "When everything is finished, bring the new certificate to the packhouse."

Several days later, Madison arrived with her husband and the little girl they had named Daisy. The servants welcomed them inside, and before long, they officially became part of the household.

Just as Noelle had expected, Luna Kylie quickly grew incredibly fond of Madison.

She admired the way the gentle omega cared for Seraphine with such endless patience and genuine love. Whenever Seraphine cried, Madison was right there.

Whenever she laughed, Madison smiled brightly with her. Watching them together filled Kylie with such comfort.

She never questioned why Seraphine seemed so attached to her nanny. To her, it simply proved Madison had a truly kind heart and was deserving of her job.

Life inside the packhouse slowly settled into a comfortable routine.

Then Daisy’s illness became impossible to ignore. Each time Daisy fell ill, Noelle felt her stomach tighten with pure dread. She already believed she knew the heartbreaking answer.

Chuck’s words kept echoing endlessly in her head. If Seraphine was the gifted wolf, then Daisy...

Noelle closed her eyes tightly. She no longer had any doubt.

This had to be the curse of the Fenrir wolf that her daughter was destined to carry.

Years dragged by before any real hope finally showed up. By the time Daisy turned five, a newly arrived group of pack doctors took a completely fresh look at her condition.

After weeks of careful observation and tests, they reached a hopeful conclusion: regular blood transfusions could slowly strengthen her body. If the treatments worked well enough, there was a real chance she might eventually outgrow the illness altogether.

When the doctors explained that Seraphine would be the best match to donate blood, Luna Kylie immediately shut the idea down hard. "No." She stepped protectively in front of Seraphine, her voice firm and unyielding. "She’s too young."

The doctors tried to explain the procedure again with calm patience. "The amount of blood we’ll take is very small. There won’t be any lasting harm. It will be completely safe."

Even then, Kylie stayed unwilling. She wasn’t ready to put Seraphine through anything that might cause her even the slightest pain.

It wasn’t until Seraphine quietly stepped forward on her own that Kylie’s resolve finally started to crack. "I want to help Daisy," the little girl said, her voice soft but full of certainty.

Kylie looked down at her in surprise. "You don’t have to."

Seraphine smiled sweetly up at her. "If my blood can make her feel better, then I want to do it." She gently held Kylie’s hand. "I’ll be okay."

After hearing repeated reassurances from the healers that Seraphine would not be harmed, Kylie finally gave in with deep reluctance.

The treatments began not long after. Noelle watched every single transfusion with a storm of mixed emotions raging inside her.

Relief flooded her heart whenever Daisy showed even the smallest signs of getting stronger. But another darker feeling slowly grew right alongside it, bitterness that burned hotter every day.

Even with Daisy living right there inside the packhouse, Humphrey and Kylie still loved Seraphine so much more. It wasn’t even close.

Their eyes naturally searched for Seraphine the second she walked into any room. They praised her every accomplishment and celebrated every little milestone in her life with pure joy. Their affection for her never wavered for a second.

Noelle kept wondering what would have happened if she had never switched the babies.

Among everyone living in the packhouse, only Ravyn seemed to pay Daisy any real special attention. Whenever the little girl got sick, he would occasionally visit her room.

Sometimes he’d sit beside her bed for a while, talking softly until he managed to make her smile again. To Daisy, those small, precious moments meant the entire world. To Chuck, they meant almost nothing.

Every time he saw Seraphine being treated like the future Luna while his own daughter remained overlooked, the anger inside him deepened into something ugly and dangerous.

The second they were alone, Noelle became the main target of all his pent-up frustration. His words grew harsher and meaner. His temper became shorter and more explosive. Before long, words were no longer enough to satisfy his rage.

Noelle quietly endured his blows without making a sound. She never screamed, she never fought back. She never told a single soul. By the next morning, her wolf had already healed every bruise, leaving behind zero proof of what had happened. No one ever suspected a thing.

One evening after another brutal outburst, Chuck glared at her with pure, undisguised resentment. "You should have left our daughter where she belonged." His breathing stayed uneven and ragged. "Ravyn already likes her." His voice carried both burning anger and deep regret. "That should have been enough."

He laughed bitterly. "He doesn’t even like Seraphine." His fists tightened until his knuckles turned white. "And yet she’s the one everyone is raising to become Luna."

Noelle lowered her head without answering. There was nothing left to say. The terrible mistake could no longer be undone.

From that day forward, the deep resentment burning inside her slowly found a new target—Seraphine.

Whenever Luna Kylie and Alpha Humphrey left the packhouse to handle other businesses, Seraphine’s peaceful little world turned cold and cruel.

The sweet girl who still believed Noelle was her real mother never understood why her ’mother’s’ attitude became so icy and vicious whenever they were alone.

Sometimes Noelle ignored her completely. Other times she spoke with such cutting cruelty that even the servants felt uncomfortable being in the same room.

In front of Madison, Noelle always held herself back. She limited the abuse to sharp insults and freezing cold words, careful not to let too much show. But the second Madison left the packhouse to buy clothes, books, or anything else Seraphine or Daisy needed, everything changed in an instant.

The warmth vanished from Noelle’s face. Kind words turned into vicious insults. Gentle hands became rough and punishing. Any hint of affection twisted into outright punishment.

Seraphine never understood what she had done wrong. She tried harder and harder to please the woman she thought was her mother, but no matter what she did, another punishment always waited for her.

Meanwhile, Daisy received everything Noelle secretly wished she could give her openly. The finest clothes she could afford without raising suspicion, gentle hugs whenever they managed to be alone, soft loving words, and warm smiles full of real affection.

To Noelle, Daisy was the princess who had been cruelly robbed of her rightful place in life. In many ways, she truly was. But none of it was ever Seraphine’s fault.

She had never asked to be part of their web of lies. She wasn’t the thief. She wasn’t the villain. She was simply another innocent child trapped by the greed and ruthless ambition of two selfish adults.
