Chapter 782: Chapter 782 – Jasmine Is Awake

Voren did not answer her immediately, reaching for his phone instead. This was the first time he had entered the suite after such a violent activity and not immediately rushed into the shower, his body still covered in sweat and blood and the grime of battle, pure exhaustion settling deep into his bones.

He dialed the number of the leader of the outlanders, and it was answered on the second ring, the voice on the other end sharp and alert, ready for whatever came next.

"King Voren, we are at your service."

"Tell me about the cat," Voren said directly, his voice brooking no pleasantries, pure focus cutting through the fatigue.

There was a short pause before the leader responded, his tone careful, measured. "We have eyes on him."

"Good. I’m coming there. Get me three male clothes and one female one."

"Voren, where are you going?" Seraphine asked, her voice tight with worry, her eyes searching his face for any sign of the danger she feared.

Voren looked at her with affection, his gaze softening as it always did when it landed on her, pure love and protectiveness rising to meet her concern.

"Please forgive me. I can’t take care of you and our pups tonight. Please shower and get some sleep. I’ll be right back."

This was the first time he wasn’t there by her side when she fell asleep, but it was necessary for the peace of the pack, for the safety of everyone they loved. The necessity of it left a quiet ache in his chest.

"I want to come with you," Seraphine insisted, her chin lifting with determination that made his heart swell even as he refused her.

But he pulled her into his arms, his gaze softening the moment it settled on hers, his hands gentle on her waist, pure tenderness in every touch.

"For the sake of our pups, please rest. I’ll need your strength for the next attack." He paused, his voice dropping to something almost like a promise, fierce and unbreakable. "This time, we are launching it."

Only then did Seraphine relax, the tension bleeding out of her shoulders in a rush of quiet relief. The fact that he wasn’t keeping her out of the main war because of her condition was enough for her, was everything she needed to hear. The trust in his words wrapped around her like a shield.

"Alright, but where are you going?"

"To the outlands. With Mom, Corvine, and Damon." He paused, his voice reassuring, steady. "But don’t worry. This is just a visibility study."

Seraphine nodded and embraced him, her arms wrapping around his neck, her face pressed against his chest, pure love and lingering worry in the way she held him.

"Come back soon."

With Jasmine’s condition, she already felt powerless and was not ready for any more emergencies, any more losses, any more pain. The fear of it sat heavy and quiet in her heart.

Voren kissed the top of her head, his lips lingering in her hair, pure promise in the gesture.

"I’ll make sure that our family lives free of fear. I promise."

Seraphine believed him, believed in the steady beat of his heart against her ear, believed in the warmth of his arms around her, the certainty of it easing the last of her tension.

As soon as Voren stepped out, he mindlinked Corvine and Damon, his voice sharp with command that left no room for delay.

’Let’s go hunting.’

Then he went to his parents’ suite and knocked on the door. Vladimir stepped out, his expression curious, as Voren informed him, pure resolve in every word.

"I’m taking Mom to the outlands to check something."

"Is it about the Lycans?" Vladimir asked, his brow furrowing with quiet concern.

Voren nodded, his jaw tight with the weight of what they faced. "Yes."

Vladimir instantly called Oriana, and together with Corvine and Damon, they shifted at the pack entrance and stormed into the woods to the outlands, their bodies moving as one, their purpose clear and unyielding.

The outlanders were already waiting with the clothes, their faces pale in the moonlight, pure readiness in their stillness.

After dressing up, Voren asked Oriana, his voice steady, pure determination cutting through the night.

"Is it possible to seal this entrance way?"

The outlander’s eyes widened, their faces registering with shock, but even Corvine feared a little, his heart skipping a beat at the boldness of the plan. If Voren sealed the entrance of the Lycans into the outlands, then they would forever remain in their underground fortress and never show up in the pack lands. They would be trapped, imprisoned, forgotten. The thought of that justice left a cold satisfaction in Corvine’s chest.

Oriana studied the situation carefully, her ancient eyes tracing the lines of the entrance, the patterns of magic that held it open, and replied, her voice heavy with the weight of what such a seal would demand.

"I can, but who will bear the consequence? If I begin the process, they will know and try to defend it. Also, those already in the outlands would come at us."

"I will," Voren sighed, his voice heavy with resolve that left no room for doubt. "Since they keep trespassing our territory and want us to remain locked in our pack, I figured they should have a taste of their own medicine."

"I’ll work on the portion tonight," Oriana said seriously, her voice carrying the weight of ancient power and quiet approval. "And I’ll get a voidstone ready. Whenever Quinn drains their powers, we can store it there and sieve out the negative energy before transferring it to whoever needs it."

Voren was grateful for the afterthought, for the wisdom of a woman who had seen decades pass. If he launched this attack, Quinn would have to absorb a lot of black magic. Good thing Oriana would know how to prevent it from turning anyone at the pack evil. The foresight of it eased a quiet worry in his mind.

Voren turned to the outlanders, his voice sharp with command that carried absolute authority.

"Make sure the cat doesn’t escape. We shall be back."

When they returned, Voren went back to check on Jasmine, his footsteps quiet in the silent hallway.

Kael sat beside her, his head resting on the bed, his body slumped with exhaustion and pure, unrelenting grief. Voren’s movements were so quiet that Kael did not even notice he was there, lost in the depths of his own sorrow and the fragile hope that still remained.

When Voren returned to his suite, Seraphine was fast asleep, her face peaceful, her breathing slow. He showered and joined her, slipping into bed beside her, his body finally relaxing after the long night, pure fatigue pulling at every muscle.

She opened her eyes as soon as the side of the bed dipped, her voice soft with sleep and quiet concern. "How did it go?"

"Everything is fine." Voren assured her, his arms wrapping around her waist, pulling her close with pure tenderness. "I thought you were sleeping." He got not response.

"Sleep, my queen." His voice was a warm whisper against her ear, pure love and quiet command.

Seraphine did not respond, drifting back to sleep, her body melting into his, the safety of his presence wrapping around her like a shield.

Voren did not know how long he slept, but Seraphine’s movements woke him, a smile on her face that lit up the dim room with pure relief and joy.

"Kael just mindlinked me." Her voice was bright with relief, with joy, with something that sounded almost like hope reborn. "Jasmine is awake."
