Chapter 797: Chapter 797 - Daddy Voren, thank you. You taught that moron a great lesson

"Bryan has been exposed to a lot because of Daisy, and I think he can handle watching the video," Corvine told Voren, his voice steady but his expression thoughtful as he considered the little boy’s resilience.

Voren frowned, uncertainty creasing his forehead as he glanced toward Bryan. "Are you sure about that?"

Bryan had spent six years living with Corvine and Seraphine at the Centenary Pack, so Corvine knew better than most what the boy had been through and how much he had already seen.

Still, Voren couldn’t shake the feeling that they were asking too much of a child who deserved to enjoy his childhood without being exposed to so much cruelty and violence.

He had seen enough darkness for one lifetime himself, and the thought of Bryan carrying those same horrible memories made him reluctant to let the boy watch the footage.

"Just give it a try," Corvine encouraged Voren, who was holding Esperanza in his arms as the little girl settled comfortably against his chest.

Voren looked at Bryan for a moment, still thoughtful as he still wasn’t entirely convinced this was the right decision.

"Bryan, there’s a video on my phone. Ask your mom to show it to you."

His voice carried a hint of reluctance, as though he was giving the boy permission to see something he would rather keep away from him.

Bryan’s frown remained, and he seemed ready to ask another question, but the moment he spotted Ravyn approaching from a distance, his entire expression changed. His little face brightened, and he took off running toward him, his short legs carrying him as fast as they could.

"Daddy Ravyn!"

Ravyn was actually the person Voren had been hoping to meet, because he had sensed his presence the moment they arrived at the Grimroot Pack. Unlike the Lycans, who had used black magic to conceal their scents and lurked in the shadows until the perfect opportunity to attack, Ravyn had never needed to hide from him.

The moment Ravyn saw Bryan racing toward him, a genuine smile spread across his face. He opened his arms, caught the boy, and lifted him effortlessly, holding him close as though the sight of him was enough to make the troubles of the world disappear for a little while.

"You’ve grown so much, Bryan."

"Thank you, Daddy Ravyn. There’s a lot of adventure over here."

Ravyn laughed, the sound rich and warm as he adjusted the boy in his arms.

"Of course. The Grimroot Pack has everything."

His phone beeped before he could say anything else, drawing his attention to the device in his pocket. He took it out, expecting an ordinary message, but the moment he saw the video playing on his screen, the smile vanished from his face.

The message had come from an unknown number, yet the content was unmistakable. It was footage of the battle between Battal and Voren, a brutal, bloody confrontation filled with violence, vengeance, and enough cruelty to make even someone accustomed to werewolf conflicts recoil.

Most of the fight had been cut out, leaving only three minutes of footage, but those three minutes were more than enough to reveal the devastating outcome.

Ravyn stared at the screen in disbelief, his mind struggling to process what he was seeing. Battal, the mighty Lycan King who had terrorized so many people, had been reduced to a man fighting desperately for his survival against Voren.

The injuries were horrifying, and the sheer brutality of the confrontation made Ravyn’s stomach tighten.

Then he remembered the little boy in his arms.

His attention snapped away from the phone as he realized Bryan had been watching the footage, too. Before he could even decide what to say or how to explain what the boy had just seen, Bryan began wriggling out of his arms.

"Bryan—"

But the boy was already running back toward Voren.

Ravyn could only stare after him, stunned by how calmly Bryan seemed to be taking everything. He had expected the boy to be frightened, perhaps even disturbed by the violence, but Bryan didn’t look as though he was about to cry or run away from the adults.

Instead, he hurried straight to Voren, wrapped his little arms around the man’s leg, and looked up at him with an expression that made it clear he had something important to say.

Voren bent down and lifted him with his free arm, holding Bryan securely while Esperanza remained nestled against his other side. Despite the exhaustion of the battle and the injuries he had sustained, carrying both children seemed effortless for him, and his presence remained as steady as ever.

"Daddy Voren, thank you. You taught that moron a great lesson."

Voren’s eyebrows rose slightly at the boy’s choice of words, but before he could respond, Bryan’s expression grew serious again.

"But I didn’t see the man who attacked Aunt Jasmine."

For a moment, Voren simply looked at him, wondering how much of the violence Bryan had understood and whether the footage had brought back memories he would rather forget.

The boy’s question, however, was straightforward, and Voren decided he deserved an honest answer.

"That man is dead," he told him gently. "In fact, what happened to him was even worse than what you saw in this video."

Bryan’s eyes widened slightly as he processed the information. He hadn’t known that Battal had done even worse things to Jasmine than the man he had seen, and the realization made him feel relieved that the bastard was dead and could never hurt her again.

Justice had finally been served, and although Bryan was too young to understand all the complications surrounding the battle, he understood one thing perfectly well. The people he loved had been protected.

He wrapped his arms around Voren’s neck, pressing his little body close to the man who had just given him the answer he wanted.

"Daddy Voren, you’re the best."

Then he planted a kiss on Voren’s cheek, and something warm spread through the Alpha King’s chest.

After everything he had endured on the battlefield, after watching his enemy escape when he had come so close to ending the threat once and for all, that simple gesture from a child made the exhaustion feel a little more bearable.

Voren tightened his arm around Bryan, allowing himself to enjoy the affection without thinking about the war, the blood, or the enemy who was still out there somewhere.

For a few precious seconds, he was simply a father holding a child who trusted him.

Ravyn approached them slowly, but his gaze kept returning to Esperanza, who was still nestled comfortably against Voren.

Just one smile from the little girl was enough to chase the demons from his heart, quiet the regrets that had tormented him, and soothe wounds he had once believed would never heal.
