Chapter 808 - It’s real! It’s the Celestial wolf
Chapter 808: Chapter 808 - It’s real! It’s the Celestial wolf
Jasmine wasn’t used to receiving this much attention, and the sudden focus on her left her cheeks flushed pink, her heart pounding with a mixture of embarrassment and confusion.
She didn’t know how to react, where to look, or what to do with her hands as everyone continued staring at her with such excitement and admiration.
However, there was one thing she needed to confirm before she could fully process everything Kael had just said, and that was whether her new wolf was truly what he claimed.
’Are you really a Celestial wolf?’
’What do you think?’ Sol responded, her voice filled with warm amusement, unmistakable pride, and something that sounded almost like affection.
’The Moon Goddess rewards those with pure hearts. You saved a special child, and even when you were facing death, you refused to give her up. You could have handed the child over and saved yourself, but you chose to die rather than allow anyone to hurt her. Little human, you touched the heart of the Moon Goddess.’
Jasmine’s eyes immediately filled with tears, the emotion so overwhelming that her throat tightened and her chest ached with gratitude.
Everything she had done had come purely from love, without expecting anything in return, and she knew without a doubt that she would have made the same choice for any of the other pups, for any child, or for anyone who needed her protection.
’There shouldn’t have to be a reward for loving someone or doing the right thing. That’s simply what being human should mean.’
’Indeed, but unfortunately, not everyone sees it that way,’ Sol agreed, her voice gentle but firm. ’That’s why those who do deserve to be rewarded. Besides, I’m certain that even if you hadn’t received another wolf after losing your first one, you would still have been happy.’
Jasmine couldn’t disagree with her, especially when she thought about everything that had happened and how much she had already been given.
She had been willing to die rather than betray her pack, and she had refused to surrender Espe even when doing so might have saved her life, but Sera had found a way to save her, while Kael had practically dragged her back from the edge of death with his love, his words, and his stubborn refusal to accept that he could lose her.
Even if she had never received another wolf, she knew Kael would have continued loving her just as much, and her pack would have welcomed her, accepted her, and continued treating her as one of their own.
In every sense, she had already won, and although she was grateful beyond words for the Moon Goddess’s gift, she didn’t consider herself more deserving than anyone else or believe she needed to be treated differently because of it.
Her conversation with Sol was interrupted by Seraphine’s excited voice, which immediately brought her attention back to the people surrounding them.
"Jasmine, we have to witness your first shift!"
Jasmine smiled as she looked around at the curious faces watching her, from the warriors whose eyes were practically sparkling with anticipation to the leaders whose expressions reflected genuine excitement and wonder.
Everyone wanted to witness the appearance of her new wolf, and after everything they had been through, she couldn’t bring herself to deny them the experience. Still, she wanted to be certain they had considered where it would happen before agreeing.
"Outside the pack?"
Seraphine shook her head, her smile warm and reassuring as she glanced around the spacious gym.
"One shift won’t cause any trouble, and this gym is big enough to accommodate her."
Quinn was particularly excited about the suggestion because the last time the leaders had gathered to witness someone’s shift, it had been her own wolf making its first appearance.
This time, however, all the attention would be on Jasmine, and she couldn’t wait to see what kind of wolf the Moon Goddess had given her. The other warriors were equally enthusiastic, their curious whispers spreading through the gym as they tried to contain their excitement.
Kael helped Jasmine to her feet, slowly releasing her from their embrace while keeping one hand around hers, his own expression reflecting just as much excitement and curiosity as everyone else’s.
"I want to see it too." He encouraged her with a warm smile before stepping farther away to give her enough room, although his eyes remained fixed on her with an affection he made no attempt to hide.
The others followed his example, gradually moving backward until they had formed a wide circle around Jasmine, leaving her with enough space to complete her shift while everyone waited eagerly for the moment to begin. However, Quinn suddenly remembered something important, and her eyes widened as she looked at Jasmine.
"I’ll get her some clothes first!"
She hurried out of the gym before anyone could respond, her excitement making her practically bounce as she disappeared through the doorway, and her sudden realization earned a round of laughter from everyone.
The brief interruption eased the tension, leaving Jasmine smiling as she waited for Quinn to return with something she could wear after shifting.
She wasn’t particularly worried about the process itself because she had shifted before, and although she knew the transformation could be uncomfortable, she didn’t expect anything close to the agony she had experienced during her encounter with Battal.
Nevertheless, when she finally began shifting, the pain was still sharp enough to make her grit her teeth, even though it lasted only a short while and was nothing compared to what Battal had put her through or the unbearable suffering of losing her first wolf and being left with that terrible emptiness inside her.
Sol, on the other hand, seemed far too excited to make her first appearance before such an eager audience, and her enthusiasm was evident throughout the transformation.
Her enormous size caused Jasmine’s clothes to tear as her human body gave way to the magnificent wolf emerging from within her, and by the time the transformation was complete, the entire gym had fallen silent.
A collective gasp escaped the spectators as they took in the sight before them, their eyes widening with disbelief and admiration.
The Celestial wolf was breathtakingly beautiful, possessing a majestic, almost divine appearance that made it difficult for anyone to look away. Her thick, silky fur shimmered like silver beneath the light, with delicate golden and pearlescent streaks running through it, creating the impression of scattered stars resting against a moonlit sky.
Her eyes were an extraordinary shade of brilliant sapphire blue, surrounded by a faint celestial glow that seemed to radiate from somewhere beyond the ordinary world.
Her enormous paws and elegantly proportioned frame gave her an unmistakable air of power, ancient strength, and authority, as though she belonged to a time long before the world as they knew it had existed.
Even her presence carried something distinctly otherworldly, making it almost impossible not to imagine that the Moon Goddess herself had breathed life into her, carefully crafting her from starlight, moonlight, and the most extraordinary dreams.
"It’s real! It’s the Celestial wolf!"
Oriana announced joyfully, her ancient voice cracking slightly beneath the weight of her emotions as she stared at Jasmine’s magnificent new wolf.
"This is a wonderful gift to the Grimroot pack. All she needs now is proper training."
Jasmine eventually shifted back into her human form and accepted the clothes Quinn had brought for her, her happiness almost impossible to contain as she struggled to process the magnitude of what had just happened.
For the first time since losing her original wolf, she felt complete again, as though a part of herself that had been missing for so long had finally been restored. Her heart was so full that she could hardly find the words to express her gratitude, and the smiles surrounding her only made the moment more special.
Unfortunately, that happiness didn’t last long before Liah raised a question that immediately brought everyone’s attention back to Jasmine’s circumstances.
"Does this mean she won’t be able to spend as much time in the human world anymore? She has a job there."
Jasmine’s smile slowly disappeared, and the excitement that had filled her expression moments earlier began to fade as she considered the implications of the question.
She knew there would be expectations attached to receiving a wolf of this caliber, understood that such an extraordinary gift came with responsibilities, and had a feeling that the Moon Goddess’s choice would demand certain sacrifices from her.
The thought alone was enough to dampen her excitement, because as grateful as she was to have Sol, she wasn’t prepared to give up the life she had built in the human world.
