Chapter 158: Chapter 158: You Were Beaten by My Third Uncle Again?

At 8:00 AM, several teachers, including Lu Tingting, gathered in the new school’s office.

Lu Tingting’s desk was situated just diagonally behind Shen Yanzhi’s.

She propped her chin on her hand, staring unblinkingly at the back of Shen Yanzhi’s head.

His head was perfectly round, and his hair was thick and jet-black. His shirt collar was crisp and white against his long neck. With his broad shoulders and straight back, even just the view from behind was a pleasure to behold.

"School officially starts tomorrow. I’ve gathered everyone today for a meeting to discuss subject assignments..."

As Lu Tingting listened to Feng Meihua speak, she felt like something was missing. Her gaze swept around the room.

"Principal Feng, why isn’t Jiang Moli here?"

Feng Meihua had no idea why Jiang Moli hadn’t come.

’Besides, Jiang Moli isn’t a permanent teacher, and she’s just teaching a non-core subject like music. Her absence won’t really affect anything.’

"She was probably held up by something."

"She must be sleeping in. I’ll go get her!"

With that, she eagerly dashed out of the office before Feng Meihua even had a chance to stop her.

She ran all the way to the guesthouse, arriving just in time to see Lu Cheng about to leave for the camp.

"Third Uncle, where’s Jiang Moli? Principal Feng wants her for a meeting!"

Lu Cheng casually closed the door and said to her, "You’re just in time. I need to talk to you. Pack your things. I’m taking you to Kun City tonight to catch a train."

Lu Tingting was stunned for a moment before realizing he meant to send her home. She blurted out, "What about Jiang Moli? Is she going back with me?"

"Have you no manners? ’Jiang Moli’? She’s your Third Aunt!"

After scolding her, he continued, "The family received your telegram. They want you back home immediately. Your Third Aunt won’t be leaving for a while yet."

Lu Tingting was completely baffled. "What telegram? I never sent one home."

Lu Cheng’s brow furrowed. Before he could ask any more questions, the door to the room behind him opened.

Jiang Moli leaned against the doorframe, letting out a lazy yawn. She asked, "You didn’t send the telegram?"

’I don’t know if it’s just my imagination,’ Lu Tingting thought, ’but today, Jiang Moli looks like an enchantress.’

’So captivating!’

Her rosy cheeks were as vibrant and luscious as spring peach blossoms, and her almond-shaped eyes shimmered like pools of clear autumn water.

"Your Third Aunt is talking to you. Why are you spacing out?"

Realizing she had been staring, mesmerized, at Jiang Moli, Lu Tingting grew annoyed with herself. "It wasn’t me! I never sent a telegram home!"

Jiang Moli smiled. "How strange. Who would be so kind as to send a telegram home for you?"

Forgetting about the telegram, Lu Tingting said, "Third Uncle, I don’t want to go back."

Her words took Lu Cheng by surprise. "Weren’t you just making a scene about wanting to go home? Why the change of heart?"

Jiang Moli teased, "I guess you can’t bear to leave now."

Lu Tingting shot her a warning glare before turning to Lu Cheng. "School starts tomorrow. Since I’m already here, I should at least teach for a little while before I go."

"The family is worried and wants you home soon."

"I’ll call them myself and explain!"

The only telephone was on the military base, and civilians needed to file a report before being allowed to enter the camp.

Lu Cheng told Lu Tingting to find him after lunch, and he would take her onto the base to use the phone.

After Lu Cheng left, Lu Tingting warned Jiang Moli, "Don’t you dare say anything about my business to Third Uncle or my family!"

Jiang Moli retorted mockingly, "You mean about your secret crush on Teacher Shen? I thought you said he was outstanding and upstanding. Are you afraid of your family finding out?"

"Stay out of my business! And another thing, there was a school meeting today. Everyone showed up, but you were still sleeping in!"

"Are you in charge of everything? The heavens, the earth, and now my sleeping habits?"

It was a little muggy, so Jiang Moli casually brushed her hair aside, revealing several rose-red hickeys on her collarbone.

Lu Tingting’s eyes lit up as if she’d discovered a new continent. "Ha! Did my Third Uncle hit you again? Serves you right!"

Jiang Moli laughed.

’When you’re rendered completely speechless, all you can really do is laugh.’

"Oh, yes, that’s right. Your Third Uncle is so abusive every night. He makes all these marks with his mouth. He’s got such great stamina, too. He goes for over an hour every time. My back feels like it’s going to snap. Sigh."

No matter how dense she was, Lu Tingting finally understood what Jiang Moli meant, and her face flushed beet-red.

"You... you’re shameless! How can you say things like that out loud?"

"I’ve got no use for it. You can have it, since you seem to be running low."

Lu Tingting was furious.

The interruption from Lu Tingting had chased away any remaining sleepiness. Jiang Moli washed up and then headed to the school with her little puppy.

The moment the fluffy, roly-poly Jiaojiao stepped outside, she attracted a crowd of curious children.

Very few of the families on the base kept dogs; they already had their hands full raising their own children.

"Where’d the puppy come from?"

"Its mother gave birth to it, of course."

"Auntie, can we play with it?"

"No!"

Jiang Moli’s refusal was swift and decisive.

"Camp Commander Lu’s wife is so stingy. She won’t even let us play with her puppy."

"She’s a kidnapper! She probably stole that puppy!"

Jiang Moli’s performance as a human trafficker had been so convincing that some of the less-discerning children had secretly nicknamed her "the Kidnapper."

Jiang Moli spun around. "I heard you kids badmouthing me. Are you looking for a smack on the hand?"

The children who had been muttering about her immediately scattered, looking guilty.

Jiang Moli continued toward the school, booping the puppy’s nose with a slender finger. "Looks like I gave you the wrong name," she teased. "I should have called you Wang Cai."

The puppy licked her finger, then craned its neck to look around, full of curiosity about the strange new environment.

By the time she got to the school, the meeting had already ended. The other teachers were at their desks, occupied with their own work.

"Where’d the dog come from?"

Seeing Jiang Moli holding a puppy, Lu Tingting came over curiously.

Jiang Moli, who was getting hot from carrying the puppy the whole way, placed it in Lu Tingting’s arms.

"This is Lu Jiaojiao."

’Lu Jiaojiao?’

’Why does that sound like we’re sisters?’

She shot Jiang Moli a secret glare, but she was quite taken with the little puppy in her arms, cooing and making kissing noises at it nonstop.

Even though Jiang Moli was only teaching music temporarily for a few days, Principal Feng had still set aside a desk for her.

Jiang Qing’s desk was next to hers, and she was diligently preparing her lessons, textbook open.

After a quick glance around the office, Jiang Moli said to Lu Tingting, "Anyway, your family already knows you ran into that kidnapper, and they’re worried sick about you. The school has plenty of teachers, so they won’t miss one. I think you should just pack your things and go home."

Jiang Qing stopped writing, unable to hide her inner glee.

’The Lu Family got the telegram, and they want Lu Tingting to go home?’

’This is great!’

’I can finally be rid of this psycho and have some peace and quiet.’

Just as she was secretly fantasizing about a wonderful, peaceful life after Lu Tingting left, she heard Lu Tingting declare, "Stay out of my business! I’m not going back!"

She couldn’t help but look up toward Lu Tingting, only to meet Jiang Moli’s knowing, mocking gaze.

She nonchalantly pulled her gaze away and pretended to focus on her lesson plan, but inwardly, she was seething.

’That psycho, Lu Tingting!’

’She was constantly whining about wanting to go home early. I went to all the trouble of sending that telegram to the Lu Family for her, so why isn’t she leaving now?!’

Although Jiang Qing’s composure was flawless, Jiang Moli was now certain that she was the one who had sent the telegram to the Lu Family.

’She must not be able to stand Lu Tingting’s spoiled-brat attitude anymore and wants to get rid of her.’

’I have to admit, Jiang Qing’s little trick was pretty effective.’

’If it weren’t for Shen Yanzhi, Lu Tingting would probably be packing her bags with glee right this moment.’

With this in mind, she turned to Lu Tingting and asked, "If you don’t want to go back, why did you send a telegram home?"

Lu Tingting was exasperated. "I already told you, I didn’t send the telegram!"

On the surface, Jiang Qing kept her focus on lesson planning, but her heart had leaped into her throat.
