Chapter 160: Chapter 160: Drugging

Jiang Qing calmly explained, "I have a bit of heatstroke. I heard drinking honey water could help, so I wanted to try it. I was going to tell you when you got back, but I didn’t expect you to catch me. I’m sorry."

"Can a simple ’sorry’ make it all go away? Taking without asking is stealing! Who knows if you’ve stolen before, or if you’ll steal again in the future! I’m not sharing a dorm with a thief! I’m going to find Principal Feng right now!"

Watching Lu Tingting’s retreating figure as she stormed off, Jiang Qing was first panicked, then calmed down.

’If Lu Tingting really moves out, wouldn’t that be a good thing for me?’

’Although, with Lu Tingting’s personality, she’d definitely make sure everyone knew about me stealing her honey.’

’But being accused of sneaking food is much less serious than being accused of drugging someone.’

It just goes to show, a villain’s elaborate scheme is no match for a fool’s sudden whim.

Jiang Moli had just finished lunch and was about to take a nap when Feng Meihua sent a child from her family to call for her.

When she got to Feng Meihua’s place, she heard that Jiang Qing had stolen and eaten Lu Tingting’s honey.

"It’s a good thing I caught her today. Who knows what else she’s stolen from me before! Anyway, I’m not living in the same dorm as a thief. Either she moves out, or I do."

Feng Meihua had a headache. "Teacher Lu, the school doesn’t have any spare dorm rooms to arrange right now."

Lu Tingting wouldn’t give up. "Then I’ll go stay at the guesthouse!"

Feng Meihua said, "The school doesn’t have that many lodging vouchers either."

The guesthouse was military-owned, and it only gave the school a few lodging vouchers each month. This month’s vouchers had already been mostly used up by Lu Tingting and Shen Yanzhi.

In the end, Lu Tingting promised to figure out her own accommodations, so Feng Meihua agreed to her request to move out.

Jiang Moli accompanied Lu Tingting back to the dorm to pack her things.

Back at the dorm, Lu Tingting saw Jiang Qing sound asleep in bed and walked right up to kick it.

Luckily, the bed was against the wall, or Lu Tingting’s kick might have flipped it over.

"How dare you sleep, you thief! Was the stolen stuff tasty? Why didn’t you just eat yourself to death! You’re a degenerate who’s a waste of air while you’re alive and would pollute the earth when you’re dead!"

Cursing, she kicked Jiang Qing’s bed hard several more times, nearly shaking the sleeping Jiang Qing onto the floor.

Witnessing Lu Tingting’s frenzy, Jiang Moli finally understood why Jiang Qing had been racking her brains trying to get rid of her.

Her gaze swept around the dorm room. "Where’s that bottle of honey?" she asked.

"Where’s my honey??"

Lu Tingting looked back and saw it wasn’t on the desk. She turned and angrily demanded of Jiang Qing.

Jiang Qing said calmly, "I ate it all."

"You ate the whole bottle? Were you a starving ghost in your past life?"

Jiang Qing ignored Lu Tingting’s taunt. "However much you paid for it, I’ll reimburse you."

Lu Tingting’s eyes darted. "Fine. Ten yuan! Give me the money."

Jiang Qing was indignant. "It was my fault for eating your honey, and I agreed to pay you back, but don’t go too far. Is one bottle of honey really that expensive? Ten yuan?"

"It’s my stuff. If I say it’s worth ten yuan, it’s worth ten yuan. If you dare not pay up, I’ll report you to the public security bureau and have you sent to a labor camp!"

Jiang Qing gritted her teeth, weighed her options, and agreed.

"I don’t have that much on me. I’ll give it to you in a couple of days."

Lu Tingting gave her a look that said, "You know what’s good for you," and started packing her luggage.

Lu Tingting had arrived with four bags of luggage, and since then, she had accumulated quite a few odds and ends.

After all her packing, she ended up with a full six bags.

Seeing Lu Tingting had finished packing, Jiang Moli said, "Well, you can take your time moving. I’m heading back to the guesthouse. I’m dead tired."

Lu Tingting grabbed her arm, annoyed. "With all this luggage, how am I supposed to move it all by myself if you don’t help?"

"Why don’t you ask your roommate for help? After eating a whole bottle of honey, she must have endless energy."

"Who knows if she’ll try to steal my stuff while she’s at it."

Jiang Moli: "Fine, I’ll see this good deed through to the end. I’ll stay here and watch your things for you while you two move them."

Hearing this, Lu Tingting turned, walked up to Jiang Qing, and ordered arrogantly, "Help me move my luggage to the guesthouse!"

Jiang Qing, surprisingly, didn’t refuse. She couldn’t wait for Lu Tingting to get the hell out.

She picked up two of the smaller bags and started walking out.

Lu Tingting followed behind her, empty-handed.

It was only after they left the fenced yard that Jiang Qing noticed Lu Tingting wasn’t carrying anything. "Why aren’t you carrying any luggage?"

"Duh. I’m leaving it for you to carry, of course."

Jiang Qing was so angry she nearly coughed up blood. "Let’s be clear, you’re the one moving, not me! It’s already more than generous of me to help you move at all!"

Lu Tingting pointed at her nose. "If you hadn’t stolen my things, would I need to move? Fine, you don’t have to carry it. You can just get the hell out of the dorm and find somewhere else to live yourself."

Afraid Lu Tingting really wouldn’t leave, Jiang Qing could only swallow her anger and act as free labor.

After watching the two of them walk away, Jiang Moli searched the dorm room and finally found an empty ceramic pot under Jiang Qing’s bed.

She bent down and sniffed it. The sweet scent of honey still lingered inside the pot.

When she heard Lu Tingting say Jiang Qing had stolen honey, she had been suspicious.

Jiang Qing had a forbearing nature and extremely strong pride; it was unlikely she would do something like steal food.

’Considering how hastily Jiang Qing "cleaned up" the honey, she must have tampered with it.’

’Most likely, she drugged it.’

’Jiang Qing wouldn’t, and wouldn’t dare, poison Lu Tingting to death. She probably just put something in it to make her sick, to stop Lu Tingting from going to town to investigate the matter of sending a telegram.’

Before long, Jiang Qing returned. When she saw the ceramic pot on the desk, her expression changed instantly.

"Hurry up and move it! What are you standing there for?"

Lu Tingting was so focused on moving that she didn’t notice the extra object on the desk.

For the six bags of luggage, Jiang Qing had to make three trips to move it all.

On the last trip, Jiang Moli went back to the guesthouse with them.

She walked beside Jiang Qing and teased, "Walk a dark road long enough, and you’re bound to run into a ghost."

Jiang Qing retorted with a cold sneer, "What’s there to be afraid of with ghosts? There are plenty of things in this world far more terrifying than ghosts."

For example, poverty, lowliness, living without dignity.

Jiang Moli gave a faint, unreadable smile. "It seems you have a pretty clear understanding of yourself, then."

Staring at Jiang Moli’s back, Jiang Qing seethed with hatred, grinding her teeth.

’Jiang Moli, I’m waiting for the day misfortune befalls you!’

Back at the guesthouse, Jiang Moli fronted a lodging voucher to check Lu Tingting in.

Jiang Qing had become somewhat deranged, and Jiang Moli didn’t feel at ease letting Lu Tingting continue living with her.

...

In the Lu Family home, Fan Wenfang was arguing with An Hui about her daughter not coming back.

"Mom, I’m putting my foot down. Third Brother must send Tingting back! Otherwise, I’ll go get her myself!"

An Hui looked at her. "Why are you yelling at me? Tingting is the one who won’t come back. If you’re so worried, call her yourself and persuade her to come back sooner."

"Tingting was reluctant to go to Menghai for the teaching support program from the very beginning. Now that she can finally come back, how could she possibly not want to?"

"Are you implying that Third Brother is holding Tingting there and won’t let her leave? You’ve been married into this family for twenty years. You’re his sister-in-law; you watched him grow up. Is he that kind of person?"

Fan Wenfang said angrily, "He isn’t, but you can’t stop someone from whispering in his ear at night! Even though Tingting isn’t you and Dad’s biological grandchild, she’s still called you Grandma and Grandpa for twenty years. Can you really bear to just ignore her plight?"

An Hui was so angry she clutched her chest.
