Chapter 2019: Blue Scorpion Bugs

  • Next Chapter

Lin Feng approached the corpse of a powerful warrior from the Human Clan, a middle-aged man whose presence commanded respect without anger.

Even after many years of death, there remained an aura of someone from the upper ranks, someone who must have been a mighty figure during his lifetime.

“Ah, senior… You died so tragically here, and your treasures lie scattered about this place, truly a waste. Let a junior collect your treasures. Rest assured, senior, I promise to burn some paper money for you after acquiring your belongings. If you fancy beautiful women, I could even burn some paper figures for you to enjoy such blessings even in the underworld.”

Lin Feng prayed to himself, as he slowly approached the revered corpse of the Human Clan warrior. But when he reached the location of this mighty corpse, the spear which pinned the warrior down suddenly revealed dense spectral inscriptions. Upon seeing these inscriptions, Lin Feng’s face changed abruptly.

He recognized those inscriptions!

They were Netherworld Patterns.

The spear that nailed the Human Clan warrior turned out to be a weapon of the Netherworld, truly unexpected.

As the Netherworld Patterns emerged.

The Netherworld Soldier exuded a wave of killing aura that swept towards Lin Feng.

“Be careful, Brother…” Yue’er exclaimed, her pretty face changing dramatically.

Lin Feng quickly used the Great Defense Skill to form a defensive crystal wall against the attacking killing aura.

Thud!

However, the killing aura was too fearsome; it sliced through Lin Feng’s defensive crystal wall as if cutting through tofu, and then continued its pursuit of Lin Feng, whose expression grew tense and serious; without hesitation, he quickly deployed the Death God Armor.

Clang!

The killing aura struck Lin Feng’s body at that moment, but the mighty attack was effectively blocked by the Death God Armor.

Lin Feng’s body was blasted away.

Ah!

He involuntarily spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, though luckily this strike didn’t take his life.

“Too terrifying…” Lin Feng got up from the ground.

“Brother, are you alright?” Yue’er asked worriedly.

“I’m fine! Don’t worry!” Lin Feng patted Yue’er’s head.

…

He gazed at the Netherworld Soldier with suspicion, for it seemed ordinary but its sheer power was exceedingly strong, causing Lin Feng to shiver.

“Could it be that all of them are Netherworld Soldiers?”

Lin Feng mumbled as he looked at the other weapons.

The deceased warriors had all been pinned down by spears.

Since those spears looked quite similar, Lin Feng suspected they all were Netherworld Soldiers.

“Such powerful treasures, wouldn’t it be a pity not to collect them?” Lin Feng muttered to himself.

He retrieved the Devouring Sky Vase.

Intending to use it to consume these Netherworld Soldiers.

Lin Feng planned to devour them one by one.

But when the first Netherworld Soldier was covered by the Power of Devouring from the Devouring Sky Vase.

The soldier gave off fearsome vibrations, and the other Netherworld Soldiers also began reverberating with similarly terrifying waves.

“Let’s go…”

Lin Feng gripped Yue’er’s delicate hand and rushed downstairs.

He didn’t even have time to retrieve the Devouring Sky Vase.

He and Yue’er escaped to the lower level.

The Devouring Sky Vase was swept away by the killing aura emitted from the Netherworld Soldiers.

Fortunately, the treasure was strong enough, and it wasn’t destroyed.

Lin Feng gave a wry smile; the Netherworld Soldiers on the fourth floor were too formidable, making them impossible to collect.

“Brother, forget about collecting those weapons; they’re too dangerous!” Yue’er advised.

Lin Feng nodded, and he and Yue’er returned to the fourth level of Demon Tower.

He put away the Devouring Sky Vase.

Looking at the Netherworld Soldiers, he could only sigh regretfully.

Lin Feng wasn’t merely upset by his inability to collect the Netherworld Soldiers.

But also by being unable to acquire the storage rings from the hands of those mighty warriors’ corpses.

Their storage rings were bound to contain countless treasures, but now they were destined to remain out of reach; it couldn’t be helped.

Lin Feng and Yue’er headed to the fifth floor.

Upon reaching the fifth floor, they saw walls and ceilings crawling with countless blue scorpion bugs, currently in slumber, not yet awakened.

“Blue scorpion bugs! Be careful, and don’t disturb them!”

Seeing these bugs, the Demon Monarch couldn’t help but exclaim, his tone extremely serious.

Lin Feng was taken aback, for the Demon Monarch was treating them with utmost caution.

Blue scorpion bugs must be incredibly menacing.

“What are these things?” Lin Feng asked through mental transmission.

The Demon Monarch explained, “These are bugs brought out from the Heavenly Realm. Nothing from the Heavenly Realm should be underestimated, even if it’s a seemingly ordinary bug. These blue scorpion bugs are immune to water and fire, and difficult for magical treasures to harm; yet their attack is exceedingly powerful, capable of easily tearing a cultivator’s body apart, then burrowing inside to devour the cultivator’s blood and flesh. In at most thirty breaths, the cultivator’s blood and essence will be fully consumed, leading to their tragic demise.”

“Terrifying!”

Lin Feng was startled.

Beasts from the Heavenly Realm were indeed fearsome.

He leaned towards Yue’er and whispered, “Be extremely careful. These blue scorpion bugs are incredibly terrifying, don’t wake them. If we do, we are doomed.”

Yue’er nodded quickly, and along with Lin Feng, cautiously proceeded towards the sixth floor of Demon Tower.

Once they reached the sixth floor, they saw an altar placed within it.

On the altar, lied an ominous coffin.

This surprised Lin Feng and Yue’er greatly.

They approached the coffin.

The coffin was sealed, with stone nails on its lid.

“What could be inside? Should we open it and see?” Yue’er said eagerly.

“We’ve come this far, not opening it would leave endless regrets!”

Lin Feng remarked.

He took out some tools and then looked at the coffin.

Before opening the coffin, he counted the nails on its lid, finding there were nine in total.

Nine!

Again, nine!

Lin Feng was sensitive to the number “nine.”

The Heavenly Master Dao’s teachings told him that nine was a sensitive number.

Many demonic and mysterious affairs were related to this number “nine.”

The Ancient Saint Emperor was known as the Supreme of Nine Nines.

Until the Human Clan’s Hundred Saints emerged and reduced the Supreme of Nine Nines to Emperor of Nine Five.

That was done because the number nine was too sinister.

Two “nines” together are even more sinister.

So seeing nine stone nails on this coffin now made Lin Feng slightly uneasy.

Yet Lin Feng was bold and skilled, he took a deep breath to calm his uneasiness.

Then he began prying off the stone nails.

Soon, Lin Feng had pried off the first stone nail.

But at that moment, threads of black mist began escaping from the coffin’s seams.
