Chapter 1130: Fortification
"So, this is the place we’ll use to defend against those beasts." Kanaria looked up.
"Yeah. It’s quite steep, which makes it quite good for a small fortress." Clovis nodded. Without wasting any more time, Clovis gave an order. "Aileen, Erwin. I need both of you to go around. Aileen is to take out all the beasts coming in this direction quietly. Erwin can put on additional fortifications. Just make sure to mark it."
Both of them nodded.
"Kanaria, Rin, Angelia. You three can always fly, so familiarize yourselves with the area and get ready to take down flying beasts. I want you to prioritize those flying beasts first. Rea will also assist you guys."
Kanaria and Rin didn’t reject their roles, but Angelia was a bit disappointed.
Clovis smiled helplessly. "Sorry about this, Angelia. I know that you want to fight a Tier 9 human. That’s your goal for joining the Libation Fiesta. Unfortunately, if I have to send you as well, the mission might end in failure. However, there is still a chance for other Tier 9 humans."
"I know. I would be lying if I’m not disappointed, but I know that not all opportunities can be taken. Don’t worry. It won’t affect my performance. I promise."
Clovis nodded. "For now, we will begin fortifying this hill. They might notice something once the sun is up, so we should get it done as quickly as possible. Melody?"
"I have built a model with all the pictures you’ve given me. This is the fortification plan." Melody projected the 3D model before continuing, "I will need to split the team into two. Team A will start from the south, while Team B will begin from the north. All of you need to move in a clockwise direction. Please begin."
They split up according to Nathan’s directions. They began the fortification while making sure they didn’t make a lot of noise.
They followed Melody’s guide carefully. Meanwhile, Aileen went one step further by scouting the area around, including the tower.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t get too close. There were simply too many beasts around the tower, so she couldn’t move further.
Aileen returned to the group immediately, not daring to take the risk. The risk was simply too high, considering they were considering the possibility of waking up the Tier 9 beast before they were ready.
Aileen reported, "Are you sure we can handle this?"
"What’s wrong?" Clovis asked with a solemn face.
"I couldn’t get too close, but from the distance, I believe that there are approximately a thousand beasts around the Tier 9 beast. In addition, there are more beasts in the entire area. We have been going as quietly as possible, but if the fight does break out, all those beasts will hear the commotion. I’m afraid that there are about ten thousand beasts going to surround us after that, not to mention some Rank 8 beasts.
"It’s going to be a hard battle. No, I don’t even know whether we can survive or not." Aileen frowned.
Clovis nodded in understanding. "Don’t worry. They should bring more. I’m actually expecting double that number. I’m not going to do anything reckless just because I think we should do it. Without proper plans, I won’t even suggest this expedition. So don’t worry. I know my limits."
Aileen frowned. "Really?"
"Yeah."
Clovis might have done something big and looked reckless, but he certainly had never endangered his men without proper plans.
Therefore, Aileen nodded. "Understood. Do you intend to disclose that plan with me or with the others?"
"Not yet. Our original plan is to fool the Moon Bow."
"Erwin used to say, To fool your enemy, you need to fool your allies first..." Aileen sighed. "I got it. For now, I will remain silent."
"Thanks." Clovis smiled.
Aileen nodded and took her leave. Meanwhile, Clovis continued to monitor their progress while helping with the fortifications.
The Moon Bow remained in his position. While wiping his bow clean, he muttered, "One shot, one kill. The others might have failed, but I specialize in this.
"If I fail, no one can succeed." The Moon Bow couldn’t help but remember the conflict between him and Ezekiel. "Ezekiel, oh, Ezekiel. It’s unfortunate that you choose to side with them. If you had just agreed to marry Christina to me, you wouldn’t have a headache like this.
"And now, your granddaughter has become my target. I guess I will send her head to you directly to let you know that you’ve made the wrong decision." The Moon Bow smirked.
"Besides, the situation is quite interesting." The Moon Bow couldn’t help but recall the time he asked the Prophet about the special towers.
...
"Since you want my cooperation, shouldn’t I have the right to know what kind of towers I’m protecting? I’m not the type of person who talks around a secret."
The Prophet looked at him for a moment before saying, "This simulation world... was created for the sake of trapping a notorious criminal."
"A notorious criminal?"
"Yes. To help the criminal restart their life and see if there’s a possibility of reform. If it’s not possible, let the criminal continue their life and die here. The brain is a powerful tool. The moment the brain registers its owner’s death, the body will stop moving. In other words, this is a place where a criminal is reformed."
"What kind of sick world would make such a place to torture criminals?" The Moon Bow gasped.
"The world outside is much harsher than this one. The situation is so terrible that even human lives are commodities that could be traded. So, criminals having a chance here is actually much better than you think. That’s also what I believe."
"Well, if the real world is indeed that bad, I guess this place is better. There’s an environment that allows them to be reformed."
"Yeah, but there is a criminal organization that is rejecting the system. They’re infiltrating the world to dismantle it from the inside. I guess I don’t have to tell you who I’m talking about."
"The Libation Fiesta..."
