Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging

Chapter 675: Revisiting the Elven Race

After they finished discussing Hugh Finch, Kai York and Shane Rhodes went on to tell her about the current situation on Caelus.

Despite how everyone in the Federation used to take pride in how much human blood they had, when the true Human Race actually appeared, those same people weren’t so thrilled anymore.

This was especially true for the Royals. After all, their entire status and fortune were built on the claim that they possessed the most concentrated human bloodline.

But now that the true Human Race had appeared, no matter how “concentrated” their bloodline was, could it possibly be more than one hundred percent pure?

“You have no idea. So much happened while you were gone. Especially with those Royals… they actually tried to hire pirates to come and kill us all.”

“Interstellar pirates? How did you find out about that?”

‘Normally, something like that would be a top secret operation.’ Yet Shane Rhodes and Kai York looked so casual about it.

At that, Kai York chuckled and said, “Oh, the interstellar pirates told everyone themselves. For some reason, right after the Royals paid the first half of the deposit, the pirates turned around and exposed the whole thing on the Astranet.”

Moira Lynch was left speechless.

“And what was the Royals’ reaction?”

“What reaction? They denied it to their dying breath, of course. Claimed the interstellar pirates were slandering them. But then the pirates immediately started a livestream. In front of the entire Astranet, they laid out the evidence, piece by piece, and absolutely buried the Royals. There was no coming back from that.”

Kai York’s face was full of schadenfreude; he didn’t have an ounce of sympathy for the Royals’ predicament.

After all, if the Royals had succeeded, they would have been the ones to suffer horribly.

The Royals’ plan had been truly vicious. They wanted the pirates to kill all the men and most of the women on Caelus, leaving only a small group of “high-quality” women for them to use to continue their lineage.

Children born from true humans would certainly have a higher purity of the human bloodline.

“And then you have the people on the Astranet, who just love to stir the pot. They started saying that since the true Human Race had shown up, the current Royals should abdicate and yield their position.”

“If the leader of our country hadn’t issued a joint statement with the leaders of several other nations, declaring they had no designs on the throne, who knows how chaotic things would have gotten.”

“But even with that, the Royals’ prestige has taken a massive hit after this. It’s just… strange. Why would the interstellar pirates side with us this time? Don’t they just work for whoever pays them?”

Hearing this, Moira Lynch shrugged. “Who knows? Maybe they just don’t like the Royals. After all, the Royals have used them as scapegoats to boost their own reputation more than a few times.”

At her words, Shane Rhodes and Kai York nodded thoughtfully.

“By the way, are you two busy?” Moira Lynch asked suddenly.

“Not at all. To be honest, we’re pretty bored,” Kai York said frankly.

“Why? Do you need something?” Shane Rhodes asked.

Moira Lynch nodded. “As a matter of fact, there is. I want you to come with me to the Elven Race. We need to collect some Elf Tree House seeds from them.”

Speaking of Elf Tree Houses, Shane Rhodes’s expression changed as if he just remembered something. “Actually, Thomas Murphy mentioned that to me a few days ago. You’ve been in seclusion for six months, so you wouldn’t know. Ever since Caelus returned to normal, the players have been quitting the game one by one.”

It was only after we connected with the rest of the interstellar community that we all realized we’d basically been working under the table.

And it wasn’t just that. The crucial part is that the rewards we received weren’t even half of what we should have been paid. The game system embezzled the rest.

“Ever since the last player quit, the game interface and everything related to it vanished completely, including the virtual shops. Most other things are fine; we can buy them now that we’re connected to the wider interstellar market. But they can’t find Elf Tree Houses anywhere. The price for Elf Tree Houses on the open market has been driven up to astronomical levels. That’s why Thomas Murphy came and asked me when you’d be out of seclusion and if you’d be willing to sell them a batch.”

After hearing Shane’s explanation, Moira Lynch quickly asked Patience and discovered it was all true.

Not only had her shop vanished, but so had all the items inside it.

Patience’s voice was apologetic. “Master, I’m so sorry. I only had time to grab some of the supplies. The game system made off with the rest.”

Hearing this, Moira Lynch took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “Forget it. It’s not like they were irreplaceable.”

‘Other than the Medicine and the weapons I crafted, the rest of the items in my shop really weren’t that valuable.’

“I happen to have a batch of newly matured Elf Tree Houses right here. I’ll have Patience send them over in a bit.”

“Okay.”

After packing a few things, the three of them set off on their journey.

Thanks to Caelus, Veridian Prime had also connected to the wider interstellar network. They had even established an Interstellar Guild, so they no longer had to rely on Teleportation Gates.

Once they were in the vehicle, Moira Lynch watched the scenery blur past outside and said candidly, “I still think the Teleportation Gate is faster.”

Kai York nodded in agreement. “I completely agree with you, but your Teleportation Gate was confiscated.”

Teleportation Gates are strictly regulated items; ordinary people can’t get their hands on them.

So, when Yarrow had discovered that Moira Lynch actually possessed a Teleportation Gate, he was genuinely shocked.

To avoid any unnecessary trouble, he had decisively confiscated it.

…

Revisiting the home of the Elves felt different this time. Their purpose was not the same, and neither was their state of mind.

The first time, they had come as laborers. Even if they hadn’t shown it, they couldn’t shake the feeling of being inferior. This time, it was completely different.

Eleanor Vaughn approached from a distance, smiling and waving at the trio.

“I heard about what happened on your planet! I can’t believe you’re actually the Human Race. When I first met you, I just assumed you were hiding your other racial features.”

Eleanor Vaughn’s eyes sparkled with curiosity as she looked at the three of them.

It felt like being an animal in a zoo, stared at by someone on their first visit.

“So this is what the Human Race looks like. You’re nothing like those Royals. Why don’t you just overthrow them and take over? There are so many of you, it’s not like you have to be afraid of them.”

The moment she finished, Moira Lynch quickly covered Eleanor Vaughn’s mouth. “We have no interest in that sort of thing.”

‘Besides, who’s ever heard of a royal family with billions of members?’

‘If they actually did that, the title of ‘Royal’ would become as common as dirt—utterly worthless.’
