Chapter 365: Chapter 175: Notification

’Would Ming Pearl Port’s combat units have left something behind?’ Xu Mo thought the possibility was high.

They had traveled over a thousand kilometers, clearing out cities and towns along the way. They must have had to deal with local survivors. They would have needed to tell those survivors what had happened, inform them of Ming Pearl Port’s existence, and advise them on what to do next.

This kind of information was most likely to be left in official government buildings.

Xu Mo stepped on the gas and accelerated. A little over ten minutes later, he arrived at his destination.

It was a large courtyard with its iron gate wide open.

Xu Mo drove into the courtyard and parked at the entrance of the government hall.

The government hall was a five-story building, its main doors also wide open.

Xu Mo pushed open his car door, got out, and walked inside.

The main hall was empty. A few documents and miscellaneous items were scattered on the floor, the reception desk was deserted, and the propaganda posters on the walls had faded.

Xu Mo’s gaze swept across the hall before freezing on a glass wall near the entrance.

A large sheet of paper was posted there—no, it was several sheets.

They were taped to the inside of the glass wall. The paper had yellowed with age, but the words on it were still clearly visible—blocky, black, printed characters that conveyed an official formality.

Xu Mo walked over quickly and leaned in for a closer look.

The title on the top sheet of paper was—"A Notice from Ming Pearl Port to All Survivors."

"I knew it!"

Xu Mo couldn’t help but clap his hands, an excited smile spreading across his face. This was the first time he had come into real contact with information about Ming Pearl Port.

Ever since leaving Jiang City, Xu Mo had been rushing all this way just to find Ming Pearl Port and establish contact.

Now, here in Linchuan City, he had finally found something written about it.

Xu Mo took a deep breath and began to read carefully.

The notice was long, filling three whole pages. Xu Mo started from the top, reading it word for word.

"A Notice from Ming Pearl Port to All Survivors"

To all our fellow human beings stranded in the world:

We are the combat forces of the Ming Pearl Port Shelter. Our troops are currently executing "Operation Reclamation," a systematic culling of the zombies in surrounding cities and towns to carve out a living space for the continuation of human civilization.

Since the beginning of the apocalypse, the Ming Pearl Port Shelter has been operating stably for over two years. Through the efforts of all our survivors, we have established a comprehensive defense system, restored basic production, and ensured the survival of millions of people.

Today, our strength has solidified, and we possess the ability to expand outward and reclaim lost territory.

In the first phase of this "Operation Reclamation," we have successfully reclaimed the following cities and towns:

At this point, Xu Mo saw a long list of names. He counted them and saw that, including Linchuan City, there were eight cities and over a dozen large towns.

The main zombie clusters in the areas listed above have been mostly eliminated. Survivors may return or establish new settlements as they see fit. However, please be aware that the culling operations cannot guarantee a 100% removal of all zombies, especially those hidden inside buildings, basements, sewers, and other such areas. Please remain vigilant when returning or entering.

During our operations, we have witnessed many heartbreaking sights.

Here, we solemnly inform all survivors:

Do not think that the apocalypse gives you license to do whatever you want.

No matter when, where, or how difficult the circumstances, humanity must hold on to its moral bottom line. We have already recorded the cases of those degenerates who have lost their humanity and committed all sorts of evil during the apocalypse. Once "Operation Reclamation" is fully complete, Ming Pearl Port will form a special law enforcement team to bring these degenerates to full account.

Justice may be delayed, but it will never be absent.

Regarding the zombies, we need to remind all survivors of the following points: ...

Xu Mo glanced over it; this information was similar to what he knew from Jiang City.

...

We are well aware that not all survivors have the ability to travel to Ming Pearl Port. For our compatriots who choose to remain in their local areas and rebuild their homes, we offer the following support and assistance:

1. Material Support: Material supply points have been established in each reclaimed area, stocked with basic supplies such as food, medicine, and tools. Survivors may go and collect them, but please take only what you need. Do not waste or hoard.

2. Technical Guidance: We have left basic survival guides and defense recommendations in each reclaimed area, including how to establish safe zones, how to defend against zombies, how to find water sources, etc. Please read them carefully and follow the instructions.

3. Contact Method: Information points have been set up at the sites of official government buildings in each reclaimed area. We will send personnel to patrol and update information periodically. If survivors have any needs, you may leave messages at these locations, and we will respond as soon as possible.

4. Settlement Construction: We encourage survivors to establish new settlements locally. Once a settlement is built, you can contact us through the information points. Ming Pearl Port will provide further support depending on the situation, including but not limited to weapons aid, personnel training, and medical support.

Finally, we want to say:

The apocalypse is harsh, but humanity is indestructible. As long as we are still alive, as long as we remain united, the flame of civilization will not be extinguished. Ming Pearl Port is willing to join hands with all survivors to rebuild humanity’s home together.

May the light guide our way forward.

Ming Pearl Port Shelter

Autumn, Year Two of the Apocalypse Calendar

After reading the last word, Xu Mo looked up and remained silent for a long time.

’Ming Pearl Port is even stronger than I imagined.’

Reclaiming so many cities and towns... Even just clearing the main areas of each city would require a massive investment of troops and resources. Moreover, these cities were scattered in different directions and at various distances, which meant Ming Pearl Port’s sphere of control was already considerable—far larger than Jiang City’s, at the very least.

Jiang City’s current range of control was only a radius of about five hundred kilometers. Beyond that distance, they couldn’t guarantee supplies and support. But Ming Pearl Port was capable of clearing out cities hundreds, even over a thousand, kilometers away. This showed that their logistical, organizational, and mobilization capabilities far surpassed Jiang City’s.

Furthermore, Ming Pearl Port’s understanding of the apocalypse was deeper than Jiang City’s.

They weren’t just studying zombies; they were also contemplating the problems of humanity itself.

This indicated that Ming Pearl Port’s leadership was very farsighted. They knew that while zombies were terrifying, humans who had lost their moral compass were even more so.

This notice gave Xu Mo a preliminary impression of Ming Pearl Port—it was a large, well-ordered, and tightly organized shelter with clear goals and plans.

’But why would such a powerful shelter suddenly lose contact?’

Xu Mo’s gaze fell back on the notice, carefully studying every word, trying to find some clue.

"Autumn, Year Two of the Apocalypse Calendar..." ’Which means this notice was written a year ago. Back then, Ming Pearl Port was still operating normally, still carrying out "Operation Reclamation," and still thinking about clearing zombies and rebuilding civilization.’

’Only... they lost contact right after that.’

Xu Mo read the notice from top to bottom one more time to make sure he hadn’t missed any important information. Then he went back to his car and took out something that was almost useless in the apocalypse: a cell phone.

After taking photos of the documents to preserve the information, Xu Mo nodded in satisfaction.

’It’s impossible for me to take these documents. What if someone else comes by later? I can’t just read it and prevent others from seeing it. And copying it all down right now isn’t practical. The best way is to take photos.’

Taking photos wasn’t just about preserving the information from Ming Pearl Port. More importantly, it was proof that Xu Mo wasn’t going in the wrong direction, proof that Ming Pearl Port truly existed, and proof that his entire journey had been meaningful.

Putting his phone away, Xu Mo turned and walked out of the government hall.

The sun was harsh outside. Xu Mo stood at the entrance, looking out at the once-thriving but now desolate city, an indescribable feeling welling up inside him.

Hundreds of thousands of people once lived here. But after the apocalypse descended, everything changed. The city had now become a city of the dead.

A year ago, a military unit from far away passed through here and cleared out the zombies. They left this notice, some supplies, and a measure of hope.

But in the end, that hope was never realized.

Xu Mo didn’t know what had become of the cities after they were cleared. Did the survivors who were told they could go back actually return?

He didn’t know.

Taking a deep breath, Xu Mo turned and walked toward his SUV.

’In any case, I now have a clear objective for my next move: the information points and supply depots that Ming Pearl Port set up in each reclaimed area, just like the notice said. I should be able to get some information about Ming Pearl Port at those places, right?’
