Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure
Chapter 205: Cave Survival 15
After climbing out of the hole, Perry Yates suddenly felt a chilling sensation that made her blood run cold.
It was the feeling of being watched by a predator’s eyes while walking in the dark; a coldness that emanated from deep within her.
The burning sensation on her wrist was so distinct.
Without a moment’s hesitation, the Wargod Kai enveloped her entire body. In the next second—
CLANG!!!
The screech of grinding metal rang in her ears, and sparks flew before her eyes. The sudden, immense force sent Perry Yates flying until she slammed into a wall and finally stopped.
Thanks to the Wargod Kai and the plants she had arranged beforehand as a buffer, Perry Yates wasn’t seriously injured, but the tremendous impact still left her reeling.
Before she could even react, a black shadow flashed in front of her. A sharp claw seized her by the neck, lifting her straight off the ground.
With the Wargod Kai protecting her, Perry Yates didn’t feel like she was suffocating, but the sensation of her feet dangling in the air left her completely vulnerable.
She struggled for a moment and found that the hand gripping her possessed terrifying strength. At the same time, she finally got a clear look at the monster that had captured her.
It was green-faced with long fangs, its long hair flying wildly, and its tattered, blood-red clothes were in tatters. Most importantly, the monster’s eyes had no whites.
’A female ghost? Or a zombie?’
As Perry Yates stared at the creature, goosebumps broke out all over her skin one after another. A look of terror filled her eyes; she was petrified.
Seeing that it had Perry Yates under control, the monster opened its mouth, revealing a maw full of sharp fangs, and lunged toward the most vulnerable part of her neck.
SCRAAPE—
The sound of metal scraping against something rang out again.
The monster’s fangs ground directly against the Wargod Kai, creating a harsh, grating noise, which was immediately followed by the monster’s shriek of agony.
The hand clamped around Perry Yates’s neck loosened, and she dropped back to the ground.
’It feels pain, so it’s probably not a ghost.’
Seeing her chance, Perry Yates quickly analyzed the situation in her mind, her hands already in motion.
The moment the monster had grabbed her, she had already tried to use Dodder Seed, but it had no effect.
With a thought from Perry Yates, countless roses bloomed throughout the entire space.
The red roses burst into full bloom, and innumerable petals drifted down like rain. If one looked closely, they would see that the surfaces of the red petals were covered in fine, golden patterns.
Those golden patterns gradually multiplied and thickened, and finally, they began to burn.
"Go!"
At Perry Yates’s command, the petals seemed to come to life, surging toward the monster. In the blink of an eye, they turned the creature into a blazing fireball.
As the flames burned relentlessly, the monster let out continuous, agonizing wails.
It tried to extinguish the flames by rolling on the ground, but it was useless. Perry Yates’s flames weren’t ordinary; they were Sun Fire. Only she or someone else with a Sun Attribute Skill could put them out. Otherwise, they would burn forever.
Perry Yates herded the monster into the hole she had just dug out, preventing it from rolling around and destroying the Bright Mushrooms she had worked so hard to cultivate.
As for why she didn’t just kill the monster directly, Perry Yates wished she could, but she had discovered that this monster’s physical resistance was exceptionally high.
Being pierced or slashed didn’t seem to faze it at all.
It was a good thing the temperature in this space didn’t rise over time. Otherwise, with this burning monster around, the entire cave would have turned into Mount Ignis in no time.
"So, what exactly is this monster?"
Driven by curiosity, Perry Yates used Identification on the monster, which was now on the verge of death from the flames.
[Green-Skinned Ghoul
A monster mutated after being infected by an unknown virus. Its body is bluish-green in color, it possesses immense strength, and its skin is tough, immune to most weapons. It has sharp fangs in its mouth and enjoys consuming fresh blood and flesh, with a particular fondness for humans.
Weakness: Has a miraculous vulnerability to being burned by flames.]
"An unknown virus!"
Seeing this, Perry Yates subconsciously took a few steps back. She then checked her entire body from top to bottom and found nothing unusual, but she didn’t relax. Instead, she took out a water bottle from her inventory.
After turning the dial on the Divine Artifact Water Bottle to the healing setting, Perry Yates started chugging the water. GLUG GLUG GLUG.
But she wasn’t done after drinking the water. Perry Yates took out several candies and stuffed them into her mouth all at once. Then came a mask, and she proceeded to disinfect her entire body.
If conditions permitted, she would have even wanted to take a shower.
After cleaning herself up, Perry Yates began to disinfect her surroundings.
Countless burning rose petals materialized in her hands once more, then drifted toward every corner like fireworks.
"Explode."
At Perry Yates’s command, each petal detonated like a small explosive, blowing up in every corner of the space.
The high temperature generated by the explosions served to heat-sterilize the entire cave.
Only after completing this step did Perry Yates finally breathe a sigh of relief.
"This should be safe for now, right?"
「Day seventeen of the game.」
Waking up early in the morning, Perry Yates immediately went to yesterday’s hole.
The Green-Skinned Ghoul inside had been completely burned to ashes.
After extinguishing the flames, Perry Yates hesitated for a moment between expanding her space and disinfecting again, then decisively chose to continue disinfecting.
’For the sake of my own life, it’s better to be safe.’
With that thought, Perry Yates prepared to act. However, at that very moment, a dagger appeared behind her without any warning.
"Don’t move. Hand over all your food and cards."
Although this wasn’t the first time she had encountered other players since entering the game, it was the first time someone had managed to approach her so stealthily.
"How did you manage to sneak up on me without me noticing?"
"That’s none of your business. Hurry up and hand over your stuff, and I might just spare your life," the man said again, his voice vicious.
"Why are you wasting your breath on her?"
Just then, another person walked over and snatched the Space Backpack Perry Yates was using as a disguise.
Opening the Space Backpack, two unopened bottles of mineral water, a half-eaten piece of bread, and five or six mushrooms tumbled out.
"How is this all there is?"
The two players wore expressions of utter disbelief.
They couldn’t believe that with so few supplies, this person hadn’t chosen to leave.
Still, every little bit counts.
