Chapter 271: Highway Survival 3

Perry Yates picked up all three orbs of light from the ground.

Once in her hand, the orbs’ outer glow quickly faded, revealing three different items.

A light blue Slime Hairpin. When worn, Slimes will see you as one of their own and will not attack you.

A bottle of blue Healing Potion. When consumed, it fully heals all injuries and restores the user to peak condition.

A white Slime Seed.

That’s right, a Slime Seed. Both the item description and the result of Perry Yates’s Identification skill confirmed it was a magical Slime Seed that, once planted, could endlessly produce Slimes.

Perry Yates stared at the seed in silence. ’What on earth is this thing for?’ she wondered.

’Endlessly produce Slimes? And then what?’

Then, a system prompt appeared: The current player does not possess soil suitable for the Slime Seed’s growth. Planting is not possible.

’Oh, thanks so much for the reminder,’ she thought sarcastically. ’Besides, I wouldn’t plant it even if I could.’

She stored the seed and the potion, put the hairpin in her hair, and got back on the road.

To be honest, Perry Yates had been quite interested in this journey at first.

After all, while she had a driver’s license, her only real driving experience was in video games.

Driving like this—with no cars in front to block her, no cars behind to rush her, and not a single person on the road—meant she could drive however she pleased. The feeling was incredible, just like playing a racing game.

However, after a while, even days like this became incredibly dull.

For three straight days, she was on the road constantly, only stopping to eat, search for supply boxes, and sleep at night.

The highway seemed to stretch on forever.

By now, the player count in the chat channel had dropped from over nine million to eight million, and it was threatening to dip below seven.

And it had only been three days. The death rate was a little too high.

She also hadn’t encountered a single other person this entire time, which made her wonder. ’Are we all on different highways? Each person on their own road, destined never to cross paths?’

Soon enough, however, that theory was shattered.

「Day five of the game.」

Perry Yates had just finished breakfast and was preparing to get back on the road when she heard the faint sound of a car horn in the distance.

Looking in the rearview mirror, Perry Yates saw an army-green vehicle approaching.

Her first thought upon seeing it was, ’That thing is huge! The hood alone is almost as long as my entire car.’

As the vehicle drew nearer, Perry Yates realized it was even larger than she’d imagined.

This wasn’t just a car; it was a combination of a car and a house—even more impressive than an RV.

Behind the vehicle’s cab, it was towing a genuine, honest-to-goodness house. Judging by its size, it looked like a three-bedroom.

What’s more, the house even had a yard. It was tiny, but it had everything it needed.

The yard had a tilled patch of land, some livestock, and even two fruit trees.

From a distance, it looked like a moving castle.

Compared to their vehicle, calling her own car "shabby" would be an understatement.

Watching the behemoth slowly approach, Perry Yates glanced at her own car. ’Should I pull over and let it pass?’

Just as she was thinking this, the moving castle came to a stop about ten meters away.

The driver’s side door opened, and a girl in a cashmere coat stepped out. Her features were delicate and cute.

Who would have thought that the driver of such an army-green moving castle would be such a petite and adorable girl?

Trailing behind the girl was a parade of fluffy creatures: kittens, puppies, lambs, little foxes, and more.

Perry Yates’s intuition told her these weren’t ordinary animals. They had most likely hatched from Pet Eggs.

The ability to support so many pets at once was a clear testament to the girl’s power.

After getting out of her vehicle, the girl walked straight toward Perry Yates’s car.

A moment later, a knock came at the window, followed by a sweet voice from outside.

"Hi, my name is Anna Kane. I don’t mean any harm, I just want to trade some supplies with you."

Perry Yates was taken aback by the request.

’Trade supplies?’

’How does she know I have supplies?’

Despite her suspicions, Perry Yates lowered the window. She was confident in her own strength. Besides, the "Perry Yates" behind the wheel wasn’t the real her—it was just a Clone.

Meanwhile, Perry Yates’s true body, transformed into a fist-sized crystal, was basking in the sunlight on the dashboard in front of the steering wheel.

"What supplies do you want?" Perry Yates asked.

Anna Kane peeked through the open window at the car’s spartan interior and couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed.

If Bun-Bun hadn’t told her that the supplies she needed were here, she never would have bothered stopping to ask. She wouldn’t have given this tiny little car a second glance.

"I’m looking for some meat and animal pelts."

Perry Yates gave Anna Kane a surprised glance when she heard her request.

Every night since the game began, beasts had attacked her car. And, of course, those beasts had ultimately paid a heavy price for their actions.

Perry Yates had butchered the carcasses of all these beasts. She hadn’t used Ascension on them yet, instead listing some of the materials on the trading hub and keeping the rest for herself.

"I can do that. But what are you offering in exchange?" Perry Yates asked.

Anna Kane was surprised she had agreed so readily. ’Bun-Bun was right,’ she thought. ’This person isn’t short on food.’

"What do you want?"

’It wasn’t a brag; all the other players combined probably didn’t have the variety of supplies she possessed.’

Perry Yates thought for a moment. "I don’t really know what I want."

’After all, it’s just food. It might be precious, but for someone like her, it’s probably nothing special.’

’Most importantly, she didn’t know enough about this world yet.’

Anna Kane, however, was very pleased with Perry Yates’s attitude. She wasn’t making exorbitant demands like the others she’d met.

"How about this? I have a few items and blueprints that are pretty useful. Take a look and see if anything interests you."

With that, Anna Kane took out several items and blueprints.

The items included a Wolf Fang Club, a Chopping Blade, an Axe, a crossbow, flint, and a trap. The selection of blueprints was much larger: Plantation, Bathroom, Kitchen, Living Room, Crafting Station, Water Purifier, Animal Pen...

Perry Yates wasn’t interested in the items. The blueprints, however, definitely caught her eye.
