Apocalypse Escape: Day One of Survival
Chapter 449 - 445: Heard the System Crashed
With the sky full of yellow sand these days, not a sliver of sunlight broke through.
But at least it was still bright for a few hours during the day.
Xie Ning planned to keep the small plant with her and carefully cultivate it to see just what kind of flower would bloom.
"I think we were destined to be friends," she said to the Little Spider.
"Otherwise, why would it have popped out on my very first ten-pull? It proves we’re fated to be together."
"Just like with you, my friend, we were fated to meet! Right?"
The Little Spider didn’t seem to answer her.
If it could roll its eyes...
"Come here, Little White." Xie Ning flashed into the farmhouse Space and beckoned to the little White Tiger not far away. "I’m going to take you out to meet our family."
The little White Tiger scampered over to Xie Ning’s side, circling her feet.
The girl and the tiger emerged from the farmhouse Space.
Xie Ning glanced at the time—it was already almost ten o’clock.
’Holy crap! Without even realizing it, I’ve been organizing things on the terrace for almost two hours.’
The moment Xie Ning emerged with the little White Tiger, the entire family surrounded them, staring.
Su Xiyue happily ran up to the White Tiger. "Sister, can I shake its little paw?"
"Go ahead. Can you communicate with it?" The White Tiger still had some trouble communicating with her mentally, its words coming out all jumbled.
’If Yueyue can communicate well with the little White Tiger, that would be a great thing.’
"Mhm, I can." Su Xiyue happily shook the White Tiger’s paw. "You’re so majestic, little tiger."
The little White Tiger immediately puffed out its chest and held its head high.
"Where’d this come from, Sis!?" Boys have a natural fondness for impressive-looking animals, and Song Shijun, Ji Taixian, and Wang Zongxuan couldn’t take their eyes off the little tiger.
And this was just its cub form.
"Grandpa, Grandma, from now on, the little tiger will live in our farmhouse Space. This isn’t its true form."
"It’s a mutated White Tiger, much larger than a normal one. At its full size, it’s about three to five meters long."
"So if you see its true form, try not to be scared."
The two elders’ eyes went wide. Before they could say a word, they heard the young rascals start yelling excitedly, "WHOA! WHOA! WHOA!"
"Really? I really want to see the White Tiger when it’s big!"
"Isn’t it just adorable like this?" Song You’ai and the others also gathered around, reaching out to ruffle the little tiger’s head.
Surrounded and petted by everyone, the little tiger let out a couple of yelps and looked up at Xie Ning, its head held high.
Su Xiyue hurried forward to pull the women’s hands away from the tiger’s head, calling out in her clear voice, "Okay, okay, stop messing with its head!"
"Sister, the little tiger says it wants to go back. It says it stinks here."
Xie Ning couldn’t help but laugh.
Compared to the abundant, flowing energy and fresh air in the farmhouse Space, this underground shelter naturally felt stuffy and uncomfortable to it.
"Alright, you’ve met the family now, so no scaring anyone in the future." Xie Ning patted the tiger’s head and gestured toward the two elders. "Quick, say hi to Grandpa and Grandma."
The little White Tiger, very human-like, lifted a paw and waved, which made the two elders chuckle with delight.
Smiling, Xie Ning sent the little White Tiger back into the farmhouse Space.
Su Xiyue quickly piped up, "Sister, Sister, let me go in too! I want to play with the little tiger for a while."
"Okay." After sending her in, Xie Ning turned to Song Shijun. "I said I had something good for you. Come over here."
Song Shijun’s eyes lit up, and he quickly squeezed through the crowd. "Sis, what is it?"
"Ms. Ning, where did the little tiger come from? We haven’t seen it before," Ji Taixian asked, his face full of curiosity.
"Do you even need to ask? Ms. Ning must have gotten it from the Krypton Gold Roulette," Xiao Huang Mao chimed in with a smile.
"Holy crap, the Krypton Gold Roulette can even give out a mutated tiger?"
Xie Ning touched her nose and waved a hand at the boisterous crowd. "Let’s keep it on the down-low."
"Line up in a bit. There are presents for everyone, and everyone gets a share of the loot, ahem."
Hearing this, everyone’s spirits lifted. They exchanged winks and knowing glances before making a "zip-the-lips" gesture.
"Shijun, this fan is perfect for you." Xie Ning slapped a high-tech fan into his hands. "This fan can create gales. Figure out how to use it. I have a feeling that if you coordinate it well, it’ll have some unexpected uses."
"Mhm, thanks, Sis." Song Shijun happily took his new gift and squeezed out of the crowd to play with it.
Xie Ning took out the V8 Homemade Superpower Guns and handed one to Wang Zongxuan, Ji Taixian, and a few others.
Then, she took out the rest of the gifts she had previously sorted, handing out each pre-assigned, seemingly unremarkable item one by one.
Everyone got something, their hands overflowing with new treasures.
The great "loot distribution" lasted a full half-hour before it finally concluded.
The teammates all held their new high-tech gadgets, studying them with lowered heads as smiles involuntarily crept onto their faces.
"There’s a commotion upstairs." Cen Yun, who had just returned after collecting food and water, reported the news as soon as she walked in the door.
"Captain, they said that from now on, the second basement level will get daily distributions of food, water, and some daily necessities." A grateful smile touched Cen Yun’s eyes. "So you can all go without worry. I’ll stay here with Xiao Fei; we’ll be perfectly fine."
"Great! How’s Xiao Fei’s health?"
"Thank you all for your concern. Xiao Fei is much better. He even had the energy to sit up and eat and drink by himself today." As she spoke, her face flushed with excitement, and tears welled in the corners of her eyes.
"That’s wonderful, that’s wonderful." Song You’ai and the others were all delighted.
"We’ll be leaving soon, so you take good care of Xiao Fei. If things go smoothly, we should be back in about seven to ten days."
"Okay." Cen Yun nodded gratefully. "Oh, right. Things are really chaotic upstairs. When I went to get our meals just now, a staff member told us to stay down here and not go up for the time being."
"It seems to be a group of foreigners making a ruckus. They’ve already dispatched the base patrol and security."
Everyone exchanged glances.
"Did you hear what it was about?"
Cen Yun thought for a moment. "I didn’t really understand, but they were saying something about a ’system collapsing’? I think that was it. They said a few of the foreigners were furious! Something about having poured a lot of money into it."
Cen Yun scratched her head, looking a bit embarrassed. "I don’t really get it."
But how could the others not understand?
All the teammates turned to look at their expressionless captain.
"Does our captain have anything to say?"
Xie Ning glanced at Song Shijun, who was struggling to hold back a laugh. "What can I say? Everyone got a share. I wasn’t playing favorites, was I?"
With that, she walked over and stuffed a pack of Nutrient Liquid into Cen Yun’s hands. "Keep this safe. If something unexpected happens in the future, one tube of Nutrient Liquid a day will be enough for you and your daughter to get by for a while."
Song Shijun almost burst out laughing. "Hush money, received."
Cen Yun, oblivious to the inside story, was moved beyond words after her repeated attempts to refuse were unsuccessful.
’I must have saved the Earth or something,’ she thought, ’to be able to join such a great group like the Starfire Team.’
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK. A rhythmic knock sounded at the door.
"Captain Xie."
