Chapter 1358: Chapter 1034: Seeking Help from Others_3
"For the sake of an old friend, I can agree. But I’ve never done it before, so I can’t guarantee the effect. So, this doesn’t count as a condition, choose another one."
"How about the Bone Planting Pool of Hundred Eyes Village?" the Elder said. "If you have no other use for it, letting us use it once would be enough."
"Alright."
Huai Shi nodded. "Even if I can’t give it to you, I’ll compensate with something of equivalent value."
After a brief silence, the Elder sighed softly and respectfully prostrated on the ground.
Offering loyalty and praise.
"Go armor up, children."
When she returned to the front of the city gate, she brought the command from Huai Shi, "The time for war has come."
.
.
An hour later, under the burning high tower, the stern fortress was already close at hand.
The Dog-headed Men from Dragon Scale Village sang hymns loudly throughout the journey, completely unaware of any need for stealth, yet their eyes occasionally flickered with a devotion and fanaticism that made their allies, the Undead Army, somewhat on edge.
Even in the crude Steel War Chariots, a desperate melody could be heard.
Leading the charge was Grey Blade, who used the protection of several villages to act with extreme arrogance in the past; now, when it was time to rebel against their protectors, they seemed to have completely forgotten past favors and terror, as they held the banner fanatically at the forefront.
"The day of destruction has come!"
"The Envoy of the Ruler has descended. His spirit moves through the void, bringing the end and destruction."
"Repent! Sinners, touch your wealth, embrace your offspring, go torment your slaves to enjoy the last pleasure, for the day of destruction is here!"
The fanatical cries were endless, echoing through the clouds.
The vast dragon-like formation stretched on, drawing the attention of countless villages along the way, yet upon noticing the strange sight, no one dared to stand in the way, only secretly spying from the shadows.
And beside Huai Shi’s chariot, the Elder riding the Giant Lizards surveyed the surroundings, finally turning her gaze towards the distant fortress that had already been alerted.
"Sir, why did you choose here first?"
She said, "Hundred Eyes Village is one of the five united rulers of the Rusty Tower Forest, with the presence of the Crowned. Depending on these Dragon Scale Village pawns might not be effective and could instead alert the enemy."
On the chariot, Huai Shi thought seriously for a moment and then raised a finger. "Two reasons."
"I would like to hear them." The Elder listened attentively.
"First."
Huai Shi solemnly said, "The Hundred Eyes Village has been tyrannical and unkind, causing the people to grumble, leading to many human tragedies in the Rusty Tower Forest.
Today, we raise the banner of resistance to overthrow this oppressive and hellish rule and regain the right to freedom."
"..."
In the silence, the Elder puzzledly scratched the scales over her auditory perception, feeling like something was off.
The right to freedom?
Did such a thing ever exist in Hell?
"Then..." she puzzledly asked, "what’s the second reason?"
"Because it’s close to home."
Huai Shi answered, "It’s convenient for cleaning and tidying up."
"..."
For some reason, the Elder felt, compared to the excuses even Huai Shi himself didn’t believe, this probably was the real reason...
Just as she was about to say something, she suddenly heard the sound of the wind exploding.
In a piercing scream, something fell from the sky.
Nearby on the city wall, a gigantic Bed Crossbow pulled its trigger, and immediately, a hefty arrow shot towards Huai Shi at the forefront.
The Elder’s expression changed drastically, wanting to draw her sword.
But then, she saw a gray-black iron light flash across the clouds.
As if picking up something amusing.
A steel Flying Bird dove down, its sharp claws grasping a giant crossbow arrow as thick as an arm, pulling it, and the terrifying momentum enough to tear through walls seemed to vanish in an instant, easily crushed into three pieces of debris.
Quickly, the Iron Crow, holding the heavy arrowhead, rose again and disappeared into the clouds.
This was when the difference between the two sides became apparent.
Unlike the chaos of the Dog-headed Men, even with the support of faith, their poor soldier quality was evident. The Steel War Chariots even, without orders, began firing back autonomously.
Burning, viscous asphalt sprayed from the massive cannon barrels like huge fireballs, soaring through the air, crashing against the city walls, turning into splattering sludge.
It created no effective lethality.
The side of the Snake-men remained calm, with Undead Army cavalry already spreading out in formation, while White Scale Guards, holding shields, began to quickly assemble, pushing forward like an iron wall. The accompanying Shaman sprinkled what might be sweet dew or poison onto every person.
Ready and waiting.
Without enough Mystic Ritual support, these Dog-headed Men could only serve as cannon fodder for war of attrition. The Evergreen Village’s Undead Army and White Phosphorus Heavy Guards are the effective forces for besieging cities and capturing territories.
Anyway, Huai Shi never had any expectations of those Dog-headed Men, being able to make up numbers and do chores was good enough, marginally better than Rat-men.
As for those truly handy and considerate, one could only blow the horn to summon people from Paradise.
Wonder how many upgrades Little Cat has done for the good brothers after not seeing them for so long?
Huai Shi suddenly felt some anticipation...
"Well, at least no need to say hello."
Huai Shi shrugged, gazing at the settlement hundreds of meters away, blowing the horn, thronging with countless heads, examining their obviously heavily constructed solid city.
The thick walls were enough to withstand the impact of battering rams, with protruding bastion towers on both sides still emanating the eerie glow of Mystic Rituals, clearly brewing counter-attack power at any time.
Moreover, there was a deep moat, where layers of shadows surged, long since filled with bloodthirsty aquatic life.
"It seems the opponent’s vigilance hasn’t relaxed at all." The Elder sighed lightly. "Sir, without large-scale equipment, we might find it difficult to take down the outer defenses in a short time."
"It’s okay."
Huai Shi clasped the Iron Mace, suddenly revealing a peculiar smile, "We have a river on our side, don’t we?"
At that moment, he held A-Fang’s wrist, gently twisting.
A loud boom roared.
The sound of tides surged to the sky!
