Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 1989- Book Hider

"Ask Jie Bang from the Manufacturing District."

The old Dean spoke to the person who had been standing in the corner of the room. That person, who seemed not to have moved a muscle all day, immediately disappeared from the room.

"Still using human messengers? It consumes time, the efficiency is too low..."

"But it's safe."

Before Zizi Kaba could finish, the old Dean interrupted him. He could only spread his hands and say nothing.

Since the librarians' intentions had changed, it was natural to be wary of the other people working in the Library Palace, so this approach was not unreasonable.

Soon, that person returned and said that Ye Zhongming had indeed changed books, and reported the names of the book he was reading before and the one he was reading now.

The old Dean's previous anger and disappointment vanished, replaced by an unprecedented hope.

Zizi Kaba did not understand manufacturing and, as a result, had not heard of these two books. He looked at the old Dean, hoping he could explain it to him.

"The book he finished reading was an intermediate theory on manufacturing, very basic. However, for someone who has just come from his home planet, it is considerably difficult. He should have learned the primary theory with the Star-Eye Clan. That Jikesu person, his talent is passable. He might have had better development in another major race; being in an assassin's land delayed him."

Zizi Kaba was not surprised to hear the old Dean say this, but if others heard it, they would be extremely shocked.

Because, how insignificant was the person responsible for technology in a small race on the verge of extinction? Yet he was known by the highest leader of the Library Palace, the old Dean. This at least indicated two things: first, the Library Palace had an external intelligence source system, and it was very timely. Second, the Library Palace paid attention to almost every race among the cosmic races.

"The second book he is reading now is still an intermediate theory, but more profound than the previous one. The two books have a sequential relationship."

Hearing the old Dean say this, Zizi Kaba understood that Ye Zhongming had understood the first book and then proceeded to read the second one, rather than randomly discarding one he couldn't understand and picking up another.

The old Dean's earlier anger and disappointment were likely due to this.

Now, even Zizi Kaba became interested and watched Ye Zhongming on the light screen with the old Dean.

Half an hour later, Ye Zhongming changed books again.

This time, before the old Dean could ask, Jie Bang, responsible for the Equipment District, proactively sent someone to report the name of the book Ye Zhongming switched to.

"Another intermediate theory book, the difficulty has increased further."

The old Dean sighed upon hearing this and added, "They are all related to equipment manufacturing. It seems his purpose is very clear."

Zizi Kaba nodded. Coming to the Library Palace and immediately entering the Manufacturing District, then only reading books on equipment manufacturing, clearly showed he wanted to improve his manufacturing level.

"It's just, theoretical knowledge isn't something that can be learned and mastered completely in a single day or night." The old Dean muttered this and then said nothing more.

Knowing what Ye Zhongming was doing, the anticipation in their hearts grew stronger. However, they couldn't just stare at him the whole time. The old Dean still played chess with Zizi Kaba.

On the other side, Ye Zhongming was rapidly reading intermediate manufacturing theories at a pace of almost one book per half hour.

The old Dean believed that Ye Zhongming was reading, not studying. Even with the brainpower of a top-tier evolved, it was impossible to thoroughly grasp a complex and profound theoretical book in half an hour.

It would be beneficial if he could draw inspiration from it and understand its content if he encountered it in the future.

When night fell, Ye Zhongming had already read over twenty books. The old Dean and Zizi Kaba had also played six games of chess, and Zizi Kaba still had not freed himself from the embarrassment of a complete loss.

"Oh ho, he's starting to read advanced theories now."

The latest news came: Ye Zhongming had begun studying advanced theories.

However, when it came to advanced theories, his speed noticeably slowed down. From about half an hour per book before, it now took about fifty minutes per book.

Zizi Kaba no longer wanted to play chess. Looking at the light screen, he suddenly said, "Do you think he might be memorizing them?"

The old Dean looked at his friend, despite their age difference, and asked, "Why do you say that?"

Zizi Kaba then told the old Dean about some circumstances regarding Ye Zhongming from the time on the Novice planet, specifically mentioning one thing: the strange death of the Nether Region Star person.

"At that time, because both sides were in the midst of a fierce chase, the corpse of the Nether Region Star person, which had almost turned into a layer of skin, was left there. It was discovered and brought back by our cleanup team. I looked at it; it should have been the appearance after the origin power was completely drained."

The old Dean listened, nodded, and said solemnly, "Drained by a pure spiritual energy entity?"

"Yes. And before this Nether Region Star person died, the targets he was tracking were Ye Zhongming and a trainee warrior from the Star-Eye Clan, Jie Kui."

Zizi Kaba said, "I know about Jie Kui's situation. He couldn't possibly possess such means. Then it could only have been done by Ye Zhongming. To achieve this, either one must be a great expert like you, or..."

"A Blue Soul Herder?!"

The old Dean uttered the words Zizi Kaba was about to say.

"Right, the extinct Blue Soul Herders." Zizi Kaba said, "Only this can explain the death state of the Nether Region Star person. But Ye Zhongming is from Earth; he can't be a Blue Soul Herder. This is very contradictory."

The old Dean nodded. Zizi Kaba's confusion was also his confusion. The Nether Region Star people's special energy constitution had a natural enemy race, the Blue Soul Herders. But Ye Zhongming wasn't one. So, how to explain that corpse?

Both of them simultaneously thought of one possibility: that Ye Zhongming had mastered some secret technique of the Blue Soul Herders.

"Although I don't know how he learned it, I think this is the only possibility left, right?" Zizi Kaba said.

"Yes, only this one possibility." The old Dean's excitement began to intensify. "You said, if what Ye Zhongming mastered is that 'Great Soul Refining Art' of the Blue Soul Herders, then his... current actions... could be explained, right?"

The latter part was no longer directed at Zizi Kaba but was the old Dean's muttering to himself. He knew that Zizi Kaba, knowing about the Blue Soul Herders was already considered knowledgeable; he couldn't possibly also know about a specific secret technique of an extinct race.

Probably only an old fellow like him, who had lived who knows how many years in the Library Palace, would know.

"So, he really can memorize a large theoretical book in such a short time. Heh, interesting, very interesting."

The old Dean was now as happy as a child.

He walked in place for a couple of circles, his brows occasionally furrowing and then relaxing. He looked at the light screen one moment, and the list of books Ye Zhongming had read the next. Finally, he clapped his hands together and said to Zizi Kaba, "It seems I need to go see this little fellow."
