Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2138: Big victory

Unless one truly reaches a certain level, one can never know what that level is actually like.

When Ye Zhongming used this ability, the others did not know whether this was what a top-tier expert looked like in action.

But instinctively, they felt that when a top-tier expert struck, perhaps this was what it looked like.

In substance, this ability differed from that of a top-tier expert in terms of power.

This difference manifested mainly in two aspects. One was quality. This ability was indeed powerful—each strike either killed or severely wounded a Level Nine or even above-Level Nine lifeform. Yet that did not mean it could compare to the intensity of a top-tier expert's ability.

Perhaps a top-tier expert's single strike could turn a lifeform of this level into a bloody mist.

The other aspect was the manner of execution.

Whether one was a top-tier expert or not, the form of their attack varied. Some top-tier experts specialized in single-target attacks, while some non-top-tier experts excelled at area attacks. The visual and practical effects could differ greatly. Often, a non-top-tier expert might appear more formidable, but this was merely a difference in form, not a reflection of actual disparity in power.

Regardless, Ye Zhongming's ability truly gave one a sense of world-shattering power.

Under Ye Zhongming's control, the Command of the Mountains directed most of its force at the densest parts of the two populations.

This maximized the number of enemies killed. Moreover, more mountains fell on the Double-Tailed Gouwo side—inevitable, given their greater numbers and density.

The terrifying attack brought not only massive casualties but also psychological pressure.

On the side of the cosmic races, morale soared. Seeing such an ability unleashed, their eyes lit up, and their offensive intensity multiplied several times over.

On the side of the mutated lifeforms, however, fear began to build as their companions fell.

At this moment, both the Huandu Wolf King and the Double-Tailed Gouwo were growing uncertain, unsure whether to continue because there might very well be a top-tier expert among their enemies.

Before the Double-Tailed Gouwo could make a move, the Huandu Wolf King had already chosen its course of action.

It had been hiding within the wolf pack. Now, it suddenly leaped out, its body fully extended, its mouth open yet silent. Its exceptional jumping ability made it seem as though it were flying through the air. Then, a pale gray mist emerged around its body, moving with it.

It chose to directly attack Ye Zhongming, who had transformed into the black-mist giant!

From within the gray mist, several dozen black shadows shot out first, followed by two enormous, phantom claws. After being launched, these energy claws merged with the dozens of black shadows, forming two sharp-fingered claws that seemed to possess many jagged nails!

As they neared the black-mist giant, the two semi-transparent claws had grown to a massive size. Combining together, they became almost as thick as the black-mist giant itself.

Every living being on the battlefield watched this moment, for they knew it could determine the course of the battle. If the Wolf King could shatter this giant with its sudden attack, then the countless mountains wreaking havoc would likely disappear, and the situation would revert to what the myriad races least wanted to see.

Ye Zhongming, in his mist-giant form, looked down briefly, then casually raised an arm.

The massive claws made contact with the black-mist giant's arm… but nothing seemed to happen.

The claws sank into the black mist, but could go no further, blocked there.

Then, the black-mist giant's other hand rose and swept down with a slap. With a sharp crack, it sent the Huandu Wolf King flying from the sky. The crisp sound seemed to land like a slap on the face of every mutated lifeform.

With a thunderous crash, the Wolf King struck the ground, kicking up clouds of dust and the blood and flesh already spilled there.

The black-mist giant was not finished. It raised its massive foot and stomped toward that spot.

The Huandu Wolf pack went wild. They surged frantically in that direction.

They themselves could die, but their king must not fall.

Countless abilities were hurled at Ye Zhongming.

The First Regiment warriors were not about to let the wolves do as they pleased. They launched continuous, fierce attacks from the side, killing countless wolves.

Before a resolution could be reached on that front, the Double-Tailed Gouwo-led mutant horde at the rear began showing signs of retreat.

The black-mist giant's slap had jolted the Gouwo awake. It decided that this place spelled trouble—it should not linger.

But the moment it moved, the black-mist giant, whose foot had not yet descended, abruptly changed its action. Instead of stomping, it brought its foot down early, kicking from the side!

The Wolf King, along with the other wolves at its landing site, was sent flying by that kick. They traveled a great distance, most crashing into mountains, some landing among the Double-Tailed Gouwo's mutant horde.

The desperate wolves immediately turned and rushed toward where their king had fallen.

The entire pack's ferocious assault on the First Regiment vanished.

"Everyone follow, but don't press too hard!"

Cheng Liujin ordered his men to apply pressure on the wolves without pushing them too tightly. He also reminded them to watch both flanks, leaving the wolves no opportunity to break out.

Now, the First Regiment once again saw the dawn of a great victory.

Ye Zhongming directed the mountains to focus their attacks on the Double-Tailed Gouwo side and kicked the Wolf King into their midst. His goal was to prevent that group from retreating. When the Huandu Wolf pack collectively turned and some among the Double-Tailed Gouwo side, affected by the Zhi Zhuo meat, fought to the death without retreating, a direct, all-out conflict between the two sides became inevitable.

To protect their king, the Huandu Wolves erupted with a ferocity and willpower even greater than when they had attacked the First Regiment.

Though the wolf pack's numbers had already dwindled to half of what they were at the start, their combat power was formidable. Under their assault, the rear mutant horde fell back step by step. They could neither stop the wolves nor halt the mountains still rampaging through their ranks.

A peculiar situation formed on the battlefield. The wolves fiercely attacked the Double-Tailed Gouwo horde, while the latter struggled to defend, all the while trying to destroy the mountains that had cut off their retreat.

The First Regiment followed from behind and the sides. When they saw the Double-Tailed Gouwo side faltering, they tightened the pressure on the wolves, forcing them to divert some forces to respond. When the wolves' attack seemed to stall, they eased off, allowing the wolves to reinforce their assault.

When Ye Zhongming's transformed state ended, and the Command of the Mountains' duration expired, little remained of the combined force of over one hundred thousand mutated lifeforms. The First Regiment then launched a full-scale assault, and the remaining mutated lifeforms scattered in all directions.

The battle ended in a decisive victory for the First Regiment.
