Apocalypse: Grinding EXP through Hunting
Chapter 433 - 305: Being a Scumbag is So Boring
Chapter 433: Chapter 305: Being a Scumbag is So Boring
Lightning flashed like writhing silver snakes.
The darkness was torn asunder.
Tang Wen smiled.
’It seems the reason these Sixth Grade Trial Takers dare to hunt a Fifth-Grade Stone Dragon...’
’...is the same as mine: they plan to use the power of the lightning here.’
Tang Wen and his group, concealed by invisibility, ascended to a higher vantage point.
Dust billowed and rubble flew.
The commotion was caused by a Stone Dragon thrashing about.
Surrounding the Stone Dragon were twelve people—the entire force of a single faction.
On the battlefield, amidst the flying sand and stones, a blue light flared.
Feng San Niang was more familiar with the various families of Ganshan City. Watching the scene below, she said, "It’s the Boat Gang. Should we?"
Tang Wen smiled. "Should we take them out while we’re at it? No rush. A commotion this big might attract others."
The Boat Gang inherited the Water Department Technique.
The Stone Dragon, on the other hand, resembled a giant earthworm and was an Exotic Beast skilled in manipulating rock and earth.
Their Attributes countered each other.
ZZZT—
Silvery-white lightning flickered across the Thunder Rock Crocodile Turtle’s body.
This was a sign that the Exotic Beast couldn’t control its emotions.
Tang Wen turned to look at it.
"I know that guy well," the Crocodile Turtle said in a booming, muffled voice.
It was normal for two Fifth Grade Exotic Beasts in the same Thunderstorm Mine Area to have a connection.
They either fought often or had some kind of friendship.
The Crocodile Turtle and the Stone Dragon were the latter.
"What a coincidence. I really don’t like those humans over there."
The Thunder Rock Crocodile Turtle quickly nodded. "If we help it, I’m confident I can get it to follow you for a while."
Tang Wen’s heart skipped a beat, but he asked, "The Stone Dragon is Fifth Grade. It can burrow into the ground and escape at any time. These people shouldn’t be a threat to it, right?"
A group of Sixth Grade cultivators surrounding and trying to kill a Fifth Grade Exotic Beast was an extremely dangerous situation, even with their superior numbers.
"But I feel something is wrong," the turtle continued. "The Stone Dragon’s condition isn’t right."
"Hm?" Tang Wen focused his senses to get a better feel and found that the Stone Dragon’s aura was only at the level of a Senior Fifth Grade.
"What’s not right about it?"
"Its strength is about the same as mine. When we used to fight, neither of us could do anything to the other."
Tang Wen was moved. He had seen the Crocodile Turtle’s power for himself.
For the Stone Dragon to have fought it to a standstill, it must have been at the Peak of Fifth Grade at least, yet the one before them was much weaker.
"Alright. White Tigers, control the field. You," he said to the turtle, "talk to the Stone Dragon via voice transmission. Prepare to make a move."
With that, Tang Wen strode forward, extending his Stealth Technique over a wider area, gradually enveloping the battlefield.
The Thunder Rock Crocodile Turtle and the two White Tigers stood before him.
Ahead, the twelve Sixth Grade members of the Boat Gang and the Stone Dragon were locked in a heated battle.
The twelve people were spread out in all directions, moving flexibly with disciplined advances and retreats.
Only after getting closer did Tang Wen realize that the Stone Dragon was trapped by a black net.
Well, ’trapped’ wasn’t entirely accurate.
A giant net lay upon the ground where the Stone Dragon was.
It was thrashing on the surface, seemingly trying to burrow into the earth to escape.
But the large black net was, to some extent, severing its connection to the earth.
It seemed to be extremely wary of the net, unable to use its full power, and was desperately trying to dig underground.
The black net also seemed to have an adhesive property, sticking to the Stone Dragon’s body no matter how it rolled or thrashed.
Tang Wen narrowed his eyes. "Looks like a Curiosity?"
Feng San Niang also shook her head. "The Boat Gang are ferrymen. I’ve never seen them fight either."
"They came prepared!"
"The Boat Gang is on good terms with the Huang Family. They could have gotten advance notice that a Stone Dragon was in this area."
Before the two could finish speaking...
A lightning storm descended.
A frenzied torrent of silver lightning poured down like a torrential rain.
Half of the twelve people fell on the spot.
The Thunder Rock Crocodile Turtle had made its move.
The Boat Gang’s lookout was horrified. ’An ambush, and I didn’t even notice? It must be a Fifth Grade expert!’
He turned to flee, not forgetting to shout at the top of his lungs:
"Watch out, there’s another expert here!"
"Young Master, run!"
"Run!"
"..."
Unfortunately, what pursued them was a Fifth-Grade White Tiger.
Faster than the sound of thunder.
Its claws were like sharp blades. A cold light flashed, and a head hit the ground.
Blood gushed like a fountain, spraying several meters into the air.
After the lightning passed...
Tang Wen saw clearly what had happened.
Eleven corpses had fallen, and one person was still fleeing.
"He knows Instant Step!" Feng San Niang exclaimed.
Hu Niannian flickered forward a few times to catch up, executing a White Tiger Heart Stealing technique from behind to finish off the Boat Gang’s last survivor.
"Bring it back. We need to destroy the bodies and eliminate all traces."
The Stone Dragon quieted down, no longer struggling.
The dozen or so corpses were piled together. Tang Wen went forward to loot them and found three Void Stones.
Judging by their clothing, the Void Stones belonged to three heirs of the Boat Gang, one for each.
The Thunder Rock Crocodile Turtle summoned a bolt of purple lightning. After one strike, the bodies were turned to charcoal.
Tang Wen was cautious. "No, we can’t leave even a single trace."
"I... can... help," a strange voice sounded. The Stone Dragon, shaped like an earthworm, had no discernible mouth or nose and could only speak by vibrating the air. "First, help me get this net off. Be careful not to touch it."
Tang Wen looked at the Thunder Rock Crocodile Turtle. Only after it nodded did the White Tigers take action.
A fierce wind rose from the ground, and the Stone Dragon began to float.
The black net, whether due to barbs or stickiness, was firmly attached to the Stone Dragon’s body.
The White Tiger used the wind to slowly peel the wrist-thick black ropes of the net off its body.
The very cooperative Stone Dragon showed a clear expression of both pain and intense relief on its massive face, which was essentially one big mouth.
It was as if a festering sore that had been endured for years was finally being scraped off.
Painful, yet satisfying!
The giant black net was removed.
Strangely, there was no slime or barbs on it.
There wasn’t a single wound on the Stone Dragon’s body either.
Tang Wen looked at the Stone Dragon, which was several tens of meters long. "What’s the deal with this net?"
The black net was collected by a White Tiger. The Stone Dragon rolled comfortably on the ground and said, "It caused me spiritual pain! My whole body felt like it was being pierced by steel needles."
"Anything else?"
’A little pain shouldn’t be enough to make a Fifth Grade Exotic Beast submit.’
The Stone Dragon burrowed halfway into the ground, its voice muffled. "The more I struggled, the more Spiritual Power I used, and the more intense the piercing pain became."
