Apocalypse: I Can See Health Bars
Chapter 295 - 237: Rendezvous and Sweep 3
Chapter 295: Chapter 237: Rendezvous and Sweep 3
Ye Qingzhou could only straighten up and give Lin Fan a helpless look. It wasn’t that she wouldn’t cooperate—she simply didn’t have the ability.
"Ahem... Yiyi, why don’t you stay with this auntie for now?" Lin Fan had no choice but to rub Yiyi’s head as he pointed at Li Wan. "We’ll go find that young lady outside in a little while."
"Okay..." Yiyi clutched Li Wan’s clothes and nodded emphatically.
"We’ll talk about this when we get back," Lin Fan said, holding up the hard drive caddy in his hand. He turned to Ye Qingzhou and asked, "Do you guys have a computer?"
"We do." Ye Qingzhou nodded. ’She’d heard from Ye Qingniao that there were two hard drives, but she didn’t know what was on them. Judging by Lin Fan’s expression, he already did.’
"Then I don’t have to lug this computer tower around anymore." Lin Fan looked around at the group. "The survivors are all downstairs. Let’s go together and get them out of here."
...
"Are the conditions for a Mutated Zombie’s creation accurate?"
"I don’t know. I’m just guessing. The hard drives might contain the specific process and criteria."
The group retraced their steps. When they returned to the workshop hall, which was still full of hanging zombies, they paused.
Li Wan, however, pulled Yiyi back, leaving just Lin Fan and the other three.
Su Qing and Chu Zhaozhao had probably lost their weapons. Su Qing was empty-handed, and Chu Zhaozhao was only carrying a few steel bars—not her two precious "Flying Swords."
Lin Fan simply took out his long spear and handed it to Su Qing, letting the two women clear the zombies in the hall from either side.
He himself stood in the middle, collecting the drops while chatting with Ye Qingzhou about the zombies, the Mutated Zombies, and the factory itself.
"An isolation zone..." Ye Qingzhou murmured, an unreadable light flickering in her eyes.
"Mhm, an isolation zone..." Lin Fan agreed softly, watching Chu Zhaozhao’s and Su Qing’s Life Value tick upward. In less than two minutes, the zombies, which had been lambs to the slaughter, were all corpses.
It was a good thing Su Qing and Chu Zhaozhao were there to take advantage of the situation; otherwise, it would have been a waste for Lin Fan to kill all these zombies himself.
"All done!"
Chu Zhaozhao said, wiping her two sharpened steel bars clean on a corpse. She tucked them into her belt, walked over to Lin Fan and Ye Qingzhou, and spoke as if looking for praise.
Su Qing stood nearby, spear in hand, lightly flicking the blood from its tip.
’This spear is only forty-four pounds. With Su Qing’s physique, she handles it effortlessly.’ Seeing how proficient she was, Lin Fan thought he might as well just give it to her when they got back.
"...Next up, a few more Mutated Zombies." After scanning the hall to make sure no zombies were playing dead, Lin Fan led the three women deeper into the factory. "You guys really have a knack for timing."
They dealt with all five Mutated Zombies. Lin Fan only stepped in for the Stealth Zombie, and that was just to stop it from screaming. Even so, the two women still got their share of the "experience points."
Only Ye Qingzhou didn’t understand why he’d waited for them to make the kills. ’She just assumed Lin Fan wanted them to get some practice. After all, the few crystals they dropped had gone straight into Lin Fan’s pocket; he hadn’t let them consume any...’
...
「Ten minutes later.」
Out of a small door on the north side of the meat processing plant, a total of sixteen women and eight men filed out quietly. Li Wan organized the women, while Liu Heng organized the men.
The survivors clearly remembered Lin Fan’s command. Even though they had truly escaped and were seeing the sky again, they didn’t dare speak loudly. They only muttered quietly amongst themselves, heads bowed, stealing cautious glances at their rescuers.
"Yiyi—" Ye Qingniao called out, squatting and waving. The little girl who was clutching Li Wan’s clothes brightened up and immediately ran over to greet her.
"Brother Lin, not many zombies on the road. I’ve already contacted them." Cheng Qi held up his walkie-talkie and pointed north. "The transport is on its way. I told them to wait for us just past the intersection over there..."
"Good. You handle the arrangements." Lin Fan swept his gaze over the sallow, emaciated survivors and sighed. ’It’s been hard, but at least they survived.’ "You all should get going..."
Then he looked at Liu Heng and Li Wan. "Lead them out. The ones who are too weak can get in the vehicle; those who can walk, just hold on a little longer. Help is on the way."
"Brother Lin, this debt for saving our lives..."
The man, Liu Heng, had bloodshot eyes. He walked forward, about to bow and kowtow to Lin Fan. "If it weren’t for you, sir, we..."
"That’s enough. None of that." Lin Fan waved his hand impatiently, cutting him off. "I’ve saved plenty of people; you’re not the first. Now hurry up and go, this place isn’t safe. We’ll be heading back too, once we’re finished here."
He then waved Ye Qingniao over. "Take them away. After you drop them off, you and Cheng Qi come back here. Wait at this intersection with the car to pick us up."
Ye Qingniao, who had been dejected over the "lack of further action," instantly perked up when she heard she could return. It was like she’d been "revived to full health."
Her eyes lit up. She SNAPPED to attention and gave a crisp military salute. "Yes, Colonel Lin!"
She then began waving her arms, herding the crowd toward the vehicle. "Hurry, hurry! Let’s go! The monsters will be out soon!" Her words scared everyone into picking up their pace as they headed north.
"That girl..." Lin Fan turned back, shot Ye Qingzhou a helpless smile, and then waved to Chu Zhaozhao.
"Zhaozhao, take us up to the roof. A soft landing, please."
He put one arm around Ye Qingzhou, and with the other, he pulled a piece of scrap metal from his inventory. Clutching it tightly, he raised it over his head like the Statue of Liberty.
’Is this little piece really enough...?’ "Alright, Sister Qing, let’s go." As she spoke, she and Su Qing grabbed onto the spear. She simultaneously controlled the piece of scrap metal and the spear, lifting them all high into the air and setting them down gently on the roof.
