Chapter 312: Chapter 243: Sky Like a Dome (Part 3)
’Just pour energy in and—BOOM—let it explode out. It’s all about maximizing kinetic energy.’
’But as for what Ye Qingzhou suggested—splitting one stream of energy into two and making them detonate in different locations simultaneously... I’ve never tried that before.’
"Interesting..."
Lin Fan stroked his chin. Seeing as Ye Qingzhou’s last fantastic idea—the "vacuum cleaner"—had been perfectly validated, he was now filled with anticipation for the "scientist’s" next wild concept.
"Wait for me to finish sweeping up. We’ll give it a try."
Lin Fan agreed without hesitation.
With that, he gripped his sword with both hands and, like a diligent sanitation worker, began dragging the two-hundred-pound "giant vacuum cleaner"...
SCREECH—CLATTER—
The heavy blade scraped across the concrete pavement, producing a grating, teeth-cringing sound.
Lin Fan skillfully laid the wide blade flat against the ground and swept it from side to side.
The pile of metal spheres, steel wire, and rubber blocks scattered on the ground vanished the instant they touched the edge of the blade.
In the blink of an eye, the materials that had been strewn messily across the ground were cleaned up completely, all of them now lying in his inventory.
"Alright, Teacher Ye. What were you saying before?"
...
Cheng Qi, ever perceptive, reversed the massive assault vehicle some distance away, parking it in a spot that was safe from the experiment but offered a perfect view.
The vehicle’s headlights bathed the clearing in light, making it as bright as day.
Chu Zhaozhao and Su Qing sat on either side of the roof, leaning against the roll cage, while Ye Qingniao sat cross-legged on the hood.
The V8 diesel engine served as an excellent dryer. The heat rising from it at idle was enough to envelop them, drying their soaking clothes and chasing away the post-sunset chill.
"The frequency was off that time! The two sides were off by 0.3 seconds!"
"You’re off. Too much forward thrust."
"Adjust your breathing. Try a pulsed ignition."
...
Time slipped by in a cycle of "BOOM!", "CLANG!", "WHIRR—", and "Again!"
At first, the girls on the vehicle watched with great interest, occasionally applauding and cheering for one of Lin Fan’s spectacular "sword flights"—which usually meant him being sent flying along with his sword.
But gradually, as time wore on, the monotonous explosions began to have a strangely hypnotic effect.
Combined with the steady warmth rising from the V8 engine, the cozy feeling was like being a frog in slowly boiling water, making their eyelids grow heavier and heavier.
Su Qing leaned against the roof rack and yawned, her eyes growing hazy. Chu Zhaozhao had lost her energy long ago. Her little head nodded again and again, until finally, her body slumped sideways and she fell asleep in Su Qing’s arms. A glistening trail of drool escaped the corner of her mouth, a sign she was likely dreaming of a grand feast.
Only Ye Qingniao was still fighting to stay awake. She hugged her sword, trying her best to see Lin Fan’s every move, even secretly channeling her own energy into the blade. But her eyes, too, were starting to glaze over.
「An unknown amount of time passed.」
WHIRR—SCREECH!
The sound of screeching brakes interrupted Ye Qingzhou and Lin Fan’s experiment, startling the drowsy girls on the truck awake.
"Brother Lin!"
"Colonel Lin!"
Four men clambered out of a vehicle one after another, calling out greetings to the two up ahead. It was Chu Zhaotian, Xu Qian, Wang Zhong, and Hu Chen—the four who hadn’t been at the camp.
"Brother, you scared me!" Chu Zhaozhao shot upright, nearly rolling off the truck’s roof. Seeing who it was, she kicked her foot out impatiently in their direction. "Shh! They’re trying to develop a new skill..."
