The Command Hub was hushed, save for the low, rhythmic hum of the central servers and the soft, intermittent clicking of Sun Hao’s mechanical keyboard.

Outside, the thaw continued its relentless work, sending trickles of meltwater down the thick concrete outer walls, but inside, the air was dense with anticipation.

The data drive Ye Lin had brought back rested in a high-speed interface dock connected directly to the main terminal. Green lines of code cascaded down the glass screens as Sun Hao ran layered decryption algorithms across the drive’s heavily encrypted firewalls.

"The security encryption on this drive is thick," Sun Hao muttered, his bloodshot eyes fixed on the progress bar crawling slowly across his display.

"They used a triple-layer quantum key. It’s going to take several hours for the server array to crack the deeper files and unlock the full tactical schematics. We’ll have to work with what we know for now."

"We don’t need to wait for the full decryption to build our foundation," Han Zheng said, stepping up to the center of the table. His broad frame stood tall, casting a heavy shadow over the map layout. "We have the people who were inside."

Gathered around the glass table were the primary planners: Han Zheng, Lin Qing, Ye Lin, and Su Yun.

Ye Lin, his face freshly washed and his minor burns bandaged by Dr. Zhou, leaned forward against the edge of the table. His eyes were sharp, reflecting the pale blue light of the monitors.

"If we want to hit Apex where it hurts, we have to strike their primary operational hub in Sector 4," Ye Lin began, his voice raspy but steady. "I know its geographic location. It’s built into a hollowed-out mountain ridge twenty miles behind their forward defense line. But taking it down isn’t going to be a simple siege. It’s fortified with automated rail-turrets, heavy armor platoons, and at least a dozen power-holders guarding the inner perimeter."

Ye Lin shook his head grimly. "I managed to break my mother out because I knew the outer guard rotation, but I couldn’t get deep into the core facility. The internal layout is a blind spot for me. Attacking a fortified underground base without knowing the internal structural corridors is suicide."

A quiet, heavy silence settled over the table as the squad pondered the hurdle.

Then, a soft, quiet voice broke the quiet.

"I know the internal structure."

Everyone turned their heads in surprise. Su Yun stood at the far end of the table, her hands wrapped tightly around a warm mug of tea. Her face was composed, though a subtle tension tightened her jaw.

Lin Qing looked at her friend with wide, astonished eyes. She had spoken very little about her time inside Apex. Even during their private late-night talks in the residential suite, Su Yun had never detailed her actual duties there.

"You worked inside the main facility?" Lin Qing asked softly, her tone gentle yet surprised.

Su Yun gave a single, firm nod. "Before I escaped, I used to work as guard and sometimes a junior research assistant in the central logistics and containment wing. I spent a lot of time moving between the lower labs and the administrative corridors."

Setting her mug down on the table, Su Yun reached into the side supply drawer, pulling out a stylus and a digital drafting tablet. She connected the tablet to the central display, and with practiced, fluid strokes, she began to draw a detailed, multi-level structural blueprint.

"The facility is divided into three primary subterranean tiers," Su Yun explained, her stylus tracing sleek white lines over the map. "Tier One is the surface landing bay and heavy armor garage. Tier Two houses the officer quarters, communications array, and Commander Lu’s central command suite. But Tier Three... Tier Three is built directly into the mountain’s bedrock."

Su Yun paused, her stylus hovering over the bottom section of the sketch. Her eyes darkened slightly. "Tier Three is where Dr. Sterling keeps the specialized research laboratories."

Lin Qing leaned closer, her eyes scanning the detailed corridors Su Yun had drawn. Suddenly, a familiar structural pattern caught her attention—a series of reinforced, circular containment cells lining a central observation corridor, heavy energy-shield conduits feeding into a central collection manifold.

"Look at these containment cells," Lin Qing said, pointing to the lower wing of Tier Three. "This layout... it’s identical to what we saw in Block C."

Han Zheng’s eyes narrowed as he examined the drawn cells. "Block C?"

"Yes," Lin Qing confirmed, her clear voice carrying a sharp, analytical edge. "In Block C, they maintained a massive human holding lab where they forcefully imprisoned power-holders, keeping them locked in energy-draining pods to harvest their core energy. They are doing the exact same thing here."

Lin Qing looked up, her gaze meeting Han Zheng’s. "If they are holding dozens of coerced or imprisoned power-holders in Tier Three, we don’t have to fight the entire Apex army alone. We can redo the plan we used in Block C."

Ye Lin’s eyes lit up with sudden realization. "A two-phase infiltration."

"Exactly," Lin Qing nodded firmly, her fingers tracing a path along Su Yun’s drawn map. "We don’t launch a frontal assault against their surface turrets. A small, elite strike team sneaks into Tier Three using the lower ventilation or drainage shafts Su Yun mapped out. Phase One is freeing the imprisoned power-holders. Once we break their containment pods and arm them, they will cause massive, uncontrollable chaos inside the base."

"That distraction will completely draw their heavy security platoons away from the upper tiers," Lu Feng added from the doorway, having stepped in to listen. "Leaving the command suite exposed."

"And that leads us to Phase Two," Ye Lin said, his knuckles knocking against the glass table with quiet intensity. "The high-value targets. To permanently collapse Apex’s regional network, we need to capture two people: Commander Lu and Dr. Sterling."

Ye Lin looked around the table, his expression setting into a hard, ruthless mask. "Doctor Sterling is the brain behind their core-harvesting technology, but Commander Lu is the real threat. Commander Lu possesses a centralized neural control transmitter—a master remote device linked directly to the bio-transponders implanted in their bio-engineered elite hounds and coerced power-holders."

"The same transponders like the one in Su Yun’s head?" Lin Qing asked, her voice dropping into a cold register.

"I think so," Ye Lin nodded. "If we secure Commander Lu’s control device, we can instantly sever his command link over their entire force. Better yet, we can turn those very Apex hounds and automated defense units against their own facilities. We start with the main facility, and then we use their own war machine to dismantle Apex across every surrounding sector."

Han Zheng stood quietly at the head of the table, letting the details of the plan settle in his mind. The strategy was brilliant, logical, and hit every strategic vulnerability Apex possessed. It combined stealth, internal sabotage, and an aggressive, decisive decapitation strike against the enemy command structure.

For the first time since the siege began, a tangible, real ray of hope illuminated the room. They were no longer just surviving behind blast doors or reacting to incoming vanguards; they had a clear, actionable blueprint to destroy their greatest enemy.

"It’s a solid plan," Han Zheng declared, his deep voice filling the Command Hub with absolute, unquestionable authority. "It requires meticulous preparation, precise timing, and flawless coordination. We will spend the next two days prepping our gear, calibrating the Power Core Rifles, and studying Su Yun’s blueprints down to the inch."

"I’ll keep the decryption running continuously," Sun Hao called out from his station, a rare, confident grin touching his tired face. "By tomorrow morning, we’ll have their full digital security codes ready to flash into their network."

Around the table, a shared sense of purpose and renewed determination spread among the squad. Old Wang, Ah Hua, and Song Yan, who had gathered near the doorway, exchanged firm, confident nods. The long, exhausting defensive battle was finally transitioning into an offensive war.

Yet, amidst the quiet optimism washing over the room, Su Yun remained strangely silent.

She stood at the end of the table, staring down at the digital blueprint she had drawn. Her slender fingers rested on the cold glass surface, completely motionless.

Deep inside her chest, a strange, suffocating instinct was gnawing at her mind—an inexplicable, instinctual dread that whispered to her, warning her with terrifying intensity not to return to Apex.

Su Yun closed her eyes, taking a long, quiet breath to steady her racing heart. She forced the creeping dread down into the dark corners of her thoughts, reassuring herself with quiet, desperate conviction.

’Han Zheng is with us. Lin Qing is with us. We have the new power core rifles, and the signal in my head is suppressed... Nothing will go wrong.’

She opened her eyes, meeting Lin Qing’s warm, supportive smile across the table. Su Yun offered a small, gentle nod in return, burying her dark premonition deep within her heart as the squad prepared for the greatest battle of their lives.
